NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

Also, THIS.

I know we're all frustrated, but the amount of bew hewing is a little extreme. Software breaks, the life cycle sometimes fails, and sometimes fails poorly. If anything, we should be happy EA actually gives a crap to come to our forums, LISTEN TO US, and help do something about it.

They've acknowledged our frustrations on many fronts also (forums, FB, Twitter). They could just ignore us. Thankfully, the devs actually seem to care. Berating them doesn't help, nor make us look mature.

We want to hold EA accountable and keep them aware that we're not thrilled with the way they've botched this product. This games #1 selling feature for me and many like me is totally ruined and needs patching, which hasn't come out yet. It's almost September. This is entirely unacceptable and I think I could go without people making excuses for EA.

I fully get your point that a b*tchfest isn't the best thing ever but... what do you expect? Honestly? People lined up to get htis game, tried to get the game early thru almost any means necessary and waited for this game with baited breath for weeks; and we get this mess.

So no sir I don't accept your post. Let the masses speak so long as it's not profanity riddled tirades.
And that is a fallacious comparison, if you wanna go after fallacies. I get what he is saying, it's getting old seeing the same old 'this game sucks' 'wont buy evar' 'EA sux' 'fire ben haumiller' posts in repetition, to the point where I don't even need to read this thread to get the basic parts of the post. People overstate OS's influence on EA. It's a vocal minority, nothing more. Posting here constantly bashing EA isn't doing anything. At the least, email or call EA and complain. Otherwise don't buy the product and hit them where it would hurt, their wallet. But sitting here downgrading the board experience with the same repetitive complaining gets old. We all realize the issues and constantly throwing them at people won't do anything besides annoy people. It's not going to get the patch down sooner, it's not gonna make NCAA 13 the perfect game. State your two cents and move on, if it's been said before we don't need ten of the same topic springing up like it has been. It gets old.

Yes, because this is FANTASTIC logic to use as a consumer.

Wow if this is how EA acts like when they care, what happens when they dont? Kick to the groin?

Here we go again...at least that false alarm allowed for a little breather.

*returns to OS Real Time until next false alarm*

Just as I and im sure most rational adults here are tired of your painfully flawed logic. When you go out to dinner with your significant other and the food arrives at your table cold/undercooked do you tell her and I qoute "u dont like the food.....TOO F'en BAD....deal with it"?

Conventional wisdom tells me you dont, but I wouldnt be surprised if you did.

You should apply for a job at EA in Marketing.

I thought that was funny too. Like EA is doing us a favor by patching the game or getting ideas for future features from websites. Its their job to keep us buying and improving the sales numbers.

Every person who tells another poster to just shut up and don't buy the game is not doing EA any favors, they are only doing themselves a favor. Do you really think EA would prefer to have say 400K happy customers who do not say a word or 550K customers with 150K bitching? They'll take the 150K extra any day of the week. At the end of the day, sales are sales. Most of the complaining will just end up being white noise in the end.

EA patches to keep enough happy to buy the next version.

Hardly my point.

My point is that while the conglomerate of EA itself could care less about us besides how quickly we open our wallet, part of improving our own experience, satisfication, and overall happiness is that a devoted community such as this should be constructive about our criticism.

Outside of a few other development teams that listen to the community (Bungie, Blizzard), it is pretty awesome that our complaints don't fall on dear ears. We should be taking this opportunity to provide meaningful criticism, just that which is limited to petulant whining does none of us favors.

Is it unfortunate, sloppy, and easy to lose customers when your product isn't thoroughly ready? Sure. But, it's pretty clear by the 1000+ responses in this thread that there are many people, like myself, that love this game. Many of us that have favorite versions, some we abhorred, and maybe even a couple revs we skipped when the quality was sub par.

I'd much rather have a development team that drops the ball on a release like this, but is quick to respond to the community. It's better than the alternative.

As someone said earlier: vote with your wallet if you're unhappy. I, just like many others, am tired of the wailing and gnashing of teeth. Why waste the energy there when you could be constructive?

Up to 10 now. Can't get past the game of the week loading screen in OD. Here's to hoping the patch is on its way.

That's your prerogative but I happen to think that's a bit crazy.
I was certain that I would be waiting on a patch for NCAA 12. Because I've waited on a patches for every sports game that I've played the past few years. Notice I said, "sports game" not, just "EA game". Even the highly touted baseball and basketball titles had issues that were described as "game breaking" or that the "franchise/association modes were unplayable".

Unfortunately, it is what it is with sports gaming this day and age. One thing EA could learn from the other two is to be a little more open with their customers. I mean, we all know that there's going to be a patch. The least they could do is say whether or not it has been submitted for approval or not. People hate being left in the dark. I believe if they just communicated and showed that they actually care, that they could keep most of these guys as customers.

# 916 Buster6 @ 08/25/11 06:02 AM
Hey guys we paid $60+ for this game, we should just accept the fact that it's broken and get over it. I mean haven't we become used to the same crap? It's been the same game for the last 7-8 years. Oh wait, they added arm bands, neato lights, and some other totally sweet features.

Don't worry though, they'll have gameplay fixed* when the patch comes out in October.

*Meaning they'll take care of about 1/3 of the glaring issues with the game.

Keep up the good work EA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

# 917 cujo0622 @ 08/25/11 07:32 AM
untill someone does somethign drastic agasint EA, we will have this every year..and what i mean drastic is take legal action for selling crap of a game and false advertisement of "if its in the game, its in the game"

# 918 ukredskin @ 08/25/11 07:39 AM
i just want to say thank god to the slider gurus on here who make this game playable, without them NCAA and Madden would be a nightmare.
so thanks guys!

# 919 inojoking @ 08/25/11 07:46 AM
You know what, I knew the moment Ben bragged about the pylon that something was terribly off with this game. Who the hell brags about a damn pylon in a game when you supposedly have added tons of new features and this was to be the "BEST VERSION EVER". I have learned my lesson though this is more than likely the last time i buy this game. I skipped some before and didnt miss it some ill wait until they do something to really improve this game before buying it again.

# 920 i_am_turner @ 08/25/11 08:41 AM
Sorry if this has already been answered in here, (but I'm reading 104 pages ) Can you get the patches in the UK?
