Madden 12 News Post

Jon Robinson of ESPN The Gamer takes us through the team overall ratings for the NFC North in Madden NFL 12.

Green Bay Packers: 92
No surprise here as the Super Bowl champs are the highest-rated team in "Madden 12." Aaron Rodgers falls just one point short of "Madden" perfection, with a 98 overall, while Charles Woodson (93 overall) and Tramon Williams (92 overall) will keep the corners on lock.

Chicago Bears: 85
Combine Jay Cutler's 98 throwing power with Devin Hester (98 speed) and Johnny Knox (97 speed) going deep, and you have a very fun "Madden" team. Throw in the running of Matt Forte, and you have an offense to be feared.

Detroit Lions: 76
The overall team number is a little low, but I can see the Lions being a popular team this year for the simple fact that this defensive line is going to give people headaches. Suh (95 hit power) and Fairley (88 hit power) are going to abuse virtual backs so bad, "Madden" might need to bring back the old ambulance.

Minnesota Vikings: 74
Ever since Adrian Peterson stormed the league, the Vikings have been a popular pick to play as in "Madden." But if you're still playing as them this year, it's really only because you want to run the ball down your friend's throat as All Day. And why not when the back boasts a 97 overall rating with 97 speed, 97 acceleration, and 90 trucking.

No need to take it to a personal level.

You stirred the hornets nest. No need to talk trash when your team hasn't held the Lombardi trophy.

And I thought all Eagle fans were the nicest fans on the planet.

The better team went to the SB and won, bottom line.

Based on last year's season, those ratings are fairly accurate.

Rodgers is obviously more accurate. But Vick is accurate as well, and Rodgers can make plays with his feet when the opportunity presents itself. That's what makes them close, and in that situation I'd rather have Vick because he's a homerun threat. You can't really drop everyone in coverage because he (and LeSean McCoy - I believe he was a Pro Bowler on the Eagles too ) can kill you with their speed all game. And if you blitz, the possiblilty of a deep pass to Jackson/Maclin is there.

What truly seperates Rodgers from Vick is the fact that Vick tends to tire himself out over the course of the season, causing himself to sort of fade late. Rodgers numbers are inflated because they basically use a spread philosphy, which goes away from the traditional run-the-ball mentality in the NFC North. The Packers can't really run the ball consistently, they proved that last year (Note I said consistently) so they basically use a pass-heavy offense.

Also, let's put this to rest - if Chicago wasn't so stubborn (Seriously, they lost because Chicago ran a vanilla offense for whatever reason) they could have easily won. The Bears shut them down running the ball and Matt Forte couldn't be stopped. So, yes they should be the best rated team in the NFC North, but not the game. They don't even have a rushing attack. Ryan Grant better be an 82 at BEST. Starks should be around 72-74, had a nice run in the playoffs but dissappeared eventually.
What in the world would make you say he is an 82 at best when he got hurt Week 1 and missed the hole season? He neither should increase or degress.

2 Straight 1200 yard season in 08 and 09 is an 82 at best? Just horrible opinions.

Not sure how they can have team rating even close to accurate yet with all the players still moving around and being signed. :P

I'm sure they will be re-adjusted with opening day rosters just like in the past.

Yeah, an Eagles fan talking smack to Green Bay fans is like a Titans fan(me) talking crap to Colts or Patriots or Steelers fans in the AFC....it is just funny. Win a Super Bowl and then get back to me Eagles fan.

Are you serious? The pack are no where close to the patriots. They have one good season and now they're compared to the Patriots? LMAO.

he's talking about the week 16 game also to the bear fan. You beat us the first meeting because of 18 penalties and only won by a FG. We beat u week 16 granted vanilla offense but u guys went all out in then nfc title game and lost. 2 wins for us 1 for u a fluke win which was the bears slogan last year

I love Packer fans. It will be an interesting year, usually a team as lucky as GB was last year doesn't sniff the playoffs the year after. I would rate the division as GB, Chicago, and Minnesota all being equal, just who stays healthy, who doesn't self destruct and who has some luck on their side. Detroit, get real, your still not even close to a contender, still no offense and still no secondary. It doesn't matter how good your two DT's are, if you can't cover guys.

# 111 authentic @ 07/30/11 05:55 PM
Oh and by the way, Vick is THE most dangerous QB in the league, mainly because you have to spy him, meaning there's one less cover guy to help with deep and crossing routes. Anyone who says Rodgers is anywhere near as dangerous as Vick is out of their minds. The Eagles are the front runners in the NFC by far, and I can say that as a NFC fan that's not the Eagles. They have options as for wildcat formations with Vick and Young, and with that defense, look out.

Wow justttt wow. Lets tack on 1 more person to the bias/crazy train.
Do you watch football? Do you know anything about the NFL? Because it seems from what you wrote that you do not. A TEAM AS LUCKY AS THE PACKERS? are you serious? Are you saying 15+ Injuries lucky? How about a 3 game AWAY sweep in the playoffs 1.of your obvious Bears 2. A domination of the falcons 3. and defeat of the eagles...is that lucky? Please do research or know anything before you post, please. And btw, why bash the lions when they actually can be a threat,Stafford stays healthy in the season and they can be a nice presence. But I don't have to tell you that do I?...And I'm assuming your a Bears fan from that funny Cubs logo, A.K.A Week 1

LOL. "As lucky as GB was last year"? Are you serious?!?! I think just about everyone but the most delusional Bears fans recognizes that Chicago had all the bounces go their way last year. Where do I start; both Lions games, the first game against Green Bay where the Packers committed a world record for penalties, having the worst playoff team ever (Seattle) come to their house for the Divisional round...I could go on and on.

And I haven't even touched the rest of the post. Minnesota equal with GB and Chicago? They're going to be awful this year. I actually have Detroit contending for a Wild Card, provided that Stafford can stay healthy.

Once again, that's I love Packer fans. Don't go hide yourselves when your in 3rd place in week 6 and then jump back on as a fan if you turn it around. By the way, not a NFC North fan, I just like the Cubs, not from Chicago at all.

Every year a team makes a big splash in FA and gets their *** crowned before snap 1 of even the pre-season. The Eagles are that team this year. Just remember, all it takes is one freak play and Vick or Aso's season can be over. Happened to us a whole bunch last season, fortunately we were able to overcome and get our backups huuuge amounts of playoff experience, plus we get Finley back this year. I prefer GB's method of developing drafted talent and locking up core guys contract wise, you guys can have the pre-season Dan Snyder trophy, I prefer the silver shiny one we just got.

Yeah, ok all Packer fans are fair weather fans like Cub fans. Didn't notice how much hatred their are for winning teams. A team wins the SB for the 1st time in 15 yrs and there is hatred.

Well, at least Packer fans don't have to say, Wait till next year every year or worry about goats and have Steve Bartman type fans.
