NBA 2K12 News Post

Back by popular demand!

In case you don't realize, the thread we all helped out on for NBA 2k11 was certainly used in fine tuning some details for the game. Let's get this party started for NBA 2k12.

Some rules:

This thread will focus on things such as the following:

Arenas
Player Faces
Player Accessories
Jersey Mistakes

Let's keep the topic focused in these areas. Compiling this information only benefits us.

Now to start and expand on something 2k added this year:

Buzzer beaters
There has to be better emotion out of things like this. You can see 2k put in a variety of fist pump animations and such and it was a great start. Before that, 2k10 had a rare few, including this one:

If you can't view the embedded video, click here. (SIDE NOTE: PLEASE have someone look at the flash player for your site. Embedding videos does not work with the code provided and you get the gray box as seen above)

We need more like this with players running to the other side of the court with the number one finger up or running and stopping and staring at the crowd.

Here is a GREAT reference video.

If you can't view the embedded video, click here.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE CROWD!!

Add yours and we'll put them all in this post.

Player Specific
- Body Types - There need to be more body types in the game. Players like Duncan, Pierce and Glenn Big Baby Davis just don't look right chiseled. Examples:
Wiry - Skinny and long - Tayshaun Prince, Kevin Durant, George Hill
Normal - Undefined muscles - Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, Anderson Varejao, Samuel Dalembert
Muscular - Very defined - Dwight Howard
Hefty - Big and bulky, a little "chunky" - Glenn Davis, DeJuan Blair

-Player faces in need of updates: Carmelo Anthony, Danny Granger, Matt Bonner, Andrew Bynum, George Hill, Andray Blatche, Javale McGee, Deron Williams, James Harden, Kendrick Perkins, Carlos Boozer, Bill Walker, Wilson Chandler, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng is bald, Andrew Bogut, Monta Ellis, Nick Young, Andrea Bargnani, David Lee,

Carlos Boozer - Signature motion after dunk, scream and head bob up/down
Wesley Matthews - Signature taunt after a three.

Tatoos - Wilson Chandler is in DIRE need of an update. References: 1, 2, 3, 4

Signature Shots - Bargnani and Calderon were changed by the 2k Insider over the course of the season to a better shot. PLEASE don't change it back to their sig's, which were actually off.

Accessories
-Calf Sleeves - Half size and Full size (There is a SLIGHT difference here. At first they look the same but HALF doesn't reach ankle and FULL does.) Don't forget the sleeve pads.
-Small Knee Pads
-BIG Knee braces - As seen on Duncan and Bosh.
-Adidas license - Especially Dwight Howards double arm braces. (We know it's a license issue - but get it anyway. )
-Elbow Bands - You have them below the elbow (probably b/c of graphical glitches). They go on the elbow. One thing you can do is take the arm sleeves and modify that. Less work and solves the problem quickly.
-Player warm up jackets - Randomly add them to players that come back to the bench after playing.
-Mouth guards
-Head bands - be able to position logo (front, angled L/R, Back) The NBA should be ok with this. If possible, try to sneak in upside down as well.
-Baller Bands - able to select two different colors
-Please make accessories specific to player's in-game injuries (SimBaller - this may require your help! )
-Oakley Goggles

Shoes
-Higher Res. shoes, please!
-Add more of 'em. 'nuff said. Even if it is through DLC!
Nike - Kobe Zoom 5/6, KD2/3, Air Max Fly By, Flight Lite 2010, Huarache 2010, Sharkley,
Adidas - Pro Model 2010, Infiltrate, Super Beast, Adizero Rose 1.5, Speedcut, Atitude MC's
Converse - EB3

Arena Specific
-Camera Angles! Create a camera angle setting called "Arena" and make it specific to that arena. Don't think your customers can't handle a slight change in angle - we can!
-New Orleans - Benches are reversed; Home is on the left, Visiting on the right (if you are facing the scorer's table)
-Verizon Center: Please fix the arena lighting. You guys have them playing in lights out lighting, and it's not the correct lighting used when watching their games on TV. The crowd should be very visible and the court lighting should be much brighter. The lighting you had in 2k10 was correct.
-Staples Center: Not dark enough on the crowd.
-MSG was very well done!
-Staples Center (Clippers) - Red needs to be more red. Looks more pinkish than red.
-Oracle Arena (Warriors) - Colors are off, especially the blue. Real life vs. In game.
-America Airlines Arena (Heat)

Jerseys
-Nets logo must be larger on the front (as opposed to this).
-The Raptors jerseys all have the maple leaf above the name on the back of the jersey now. In 2k11 it still only had the leaf on the black alternates. Ref. 1, 2, 3.

Other
-Pre-game shootaround in warmups
-Different gear on players during pre-game intro (Beats headphones, backpack, non-suit attire)
-Injury cut scene to the "tunnel"
-Injured players should get helped by at least one or two other teammates, not back away.
-Have the CPU send players to the scorers table for substitutions ... they always seem to run on the court in between FT's or during TO's.
-Different jersey fittings (tight, regular, loose)
-Accessory color selection right before tip-off (for players that wear "team specific" gear)
-Post game interview? Can make it just a cut scene as the announcers wrap up the game.
-Crowds wearing team-specific jerseys.
-Arena court "scuffs" as the season progresses.
-Players falling into fans and interacting with them
-Fans catching the ball and throwing it back when it goes out of bounds
-News from around the league during gameplay
-Other scores and stats from different games showing up in a ticker!
-CAP Tattoos need to be updated: Options for a sleeve, etc.
-Clear the bench on a game winner!

accessories have been covered as far as i can see... as long as player's appearances, especially hair and facial hair are fully editable then i'm good

the simple fix to all this is to try and make console play similar to pc play as possible is to add more options and allow us to edit and fix everything.sometimes there are licensing issues, like shoes on certain people.but just add more hair, more accessories, and allow us to edit more cosmetic things, like hair, facial hair, more shoes, more accessories.get rid of the glitches like the no sock when u add a mid calf sleeve.

add color to socks that we can change for home and away.sometimes teams where team color socks or black shoes/socks for home games.this isnt possible with the current system of automatic white socks for home and black for away in most if not all cases.

let us choose the color for sleeves and also have the option for automatic colors.not just the automatic team color one team color two options.

player faces that need work should be addressed.start with the superstars first.like kobe, melo, basically players that arent just the face of the franchise they play for,but for the nba as a whole.

add an animation for a forward leaning shot.if a player is running full speed or if they just want to avoid a block, adding this type of shot would be great.

one of the biggest things that needs to be added is the ability to use post moves when not engaged in the post. being able to jump hook or any other post move would be great.sometimes you are forced to disengage while in the post and you're left with the a reduced array of shots to choose from and become basically stuck in the post.

all in all...2k11 is a great game, and we just gotta keep suggesting great stuff like whats in this thread for the devs

DeMar DeRozan's Face.
Whole Raptors Squad needs a revamp.

Give us the ability to choose alternate and retro jerseys in my player mode this year. I get sick of wearing the same home and away jerseys all season.

It's been said many times before but here, I'll explain again.

The Developers are fully aware of the mods and capabilities of the PC version, it's no secret. Typing in CAPS, yelling at them, does nothing. You're not telling them something they don't already know. We, PC users, have been modding their games for years, and they're aware of it.

It's not the fault of the developers that console users cannot mod their games or consoles. So stop putting the blame on them. That is a problem that falls on the shoulders of Microsoft and Sony. They, Microsoft and Sony, do not want users to have full control over their consoles and games to allow modding capabilities. Until Microsoft and Sony change their opinion on this, not likely anytime soon, modding for console games will continue to be very limited to simple tricks, such as hex editing. A handful of developers have approached Microsoft and Sony to try and allow user content and some modding for console games, but have been shot down almost immediately. Valve (Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Half Life, Counterstrike) and Bethesda (The Elder Scrolls) come to mind here, they have tried multiple times with zero success.

See when we mod our PC games we are modding the core files of the game by extracting them and viewing them through other applications like Photoshop, GIMP, NIFSkope, etc... etc... Console users simple do not have access to those files, and it would be illegal and a breach of the TOS of said console to alter them anyway.

heres one.

very small addition but it would be a neat eye catcher. in the 4th quarter, players that have low stamina should be drenched in sweat. dark jerseys should have those dark stains on them.

Also how about when guys shot free throws (make or miss) all players (not just 2 or 1) fist pound/5 the player at the free throw line like they do in real life. Also after Dwyane Wade goes up for a dunk/dunks on somebody and he gets fouled (only if he makes and there is a foul) he does the cabbage patch dance. As well as LeBron James if he dunks/dunks on somebody and gets fouled he flexes his muscles towards the crowd, while yelling.

Noah and Bynum have had the same face since 2k8...come on son

1.) Not all players walk over to give their teammate a fist pound at the line (make or miss) in real life.
2.) Wade cabbage patched ONE time in 96 games played (playoffs included). It's not something as signature as his pregame rim pull-ups.
3.) LeBron does flex his muscles towards the crowd (or whichever way he's facing post-dunk). The yell would be nice, but that sounds like something for the wishlist thread here.

It would be nice if players wear towels, warmups, team shooting shirt, team jacket or even in a suit if they are injured while sitting on the bench. I know injured players in a suit is already in the game but I`ve just seen it once happening to me.
Here are some references:

Shooting shirts Lebron and Zydrunas

Kevin Durant Towel

K.G On a suit.

Magic Bench (Best Picture, Just how it should be. Nelson on a suit, Dwight uniform, Earl Clark with the warmups and towel, Quentin with the Shooting shirt and Bass with the warmups.)

i never said anything about files of any sort.ive played basketball games on pc and i am fully aware of modding capabilities and what you can do.if u notice i said make it similar.i suggested doing this by adding more accessories to diversify the options we have to create better players.and allow us to edit things within edit player that arent normally available to edit except on cap.like hair, facial hair, things of that nature.just the same way they now allow us to edit players shots and adding custom colorways on shoes.i was just suggesting that they add more options like this to close the gap between console play and pc play.i know there will always be a gap with things the way they are,but i was just suggesting that they keep expanding on these types of things so that even if they dont get to work on all the players faces or all the shoes or whatever,we can do it to a certain extent with what we have available to us. if u download the 2kshare rosters people would create players over again that were already in the game just to get the faces right, but sometimes the hair would be off or something because they just had to use what was there.so once again.all that i was asking was that there be more options to do things like this so that we can make things as realistic as we can,we will find a way, just give us the avenue.

Guys - if you don't provide pictures, your specific requests won't be added to the first post.

The point of this is to make it as easy as possible to get these updates into the game. Pictures help provide that immensely.

If we have a season and the NBA does what they did last year with two teams playing a couple of games in Europe during the regular season. The announcers should talk about that, and they should play in a neutral arena so it doesn't feel like a regular home game or away game.

# 155 teebee @ 06/29/11 01:02 PM
Holy crap, someone please delete the post with the gazillion shoe pics, that was BRUTAL

Headbands should be able to be adjusted so that the logo is in the place you want it
Ex:
Back of head

You should be able to layer accessories
Ex:
Notice the sleeves with the baller bands under them

Fix the calve sleeve so that you can wear it with socks
Ex:

The addition of the small knee bad and big knee brace

Ex:
Small

Big Knee brace

Brandon Jennings & Stephen Curry need to be updated. They didn't update them at all last year. Also, add Brandon Jennings' tattoos.
