I think they just throw rosters together, focus on the key players, and fill in the blanks around them based on the school. Michigan is still a big name. Their D should be a C or C+ at the best but that just won't happen without custom rosters

I think your right....but like someone else said no big since we can edit.

How is it that LSU is an A overall while A- teams have better offense, defense, and special team ratings? Could it be an error on the TSO staff? Even the other A rated teams have significantly better offense, defense, and special teams ratings.

sorry for no link but apparently I need 5 posts.

Thanks!

Army and Harvard have a lot of tradition too...if it wasnt for ND's well known name they would be a 3 star at best based on recent results....

There may be others I didn't see

Also, I noticed Wazzou is the only 1* AQ, not Duke. And Texas is still 6*?!?! Houston, a 4* last year, went 5-7 year, dropped a star. Texas, a 6*, went 5-7 and didn't drop a star.

Also, thanks for posting!
Complaining that Texas is still a 6* is beyond stupid. We've had 1 bad year in the last 13 and somehow you think that justifies moving us down to a 5* school? I guess 3 straight top 5 recruiting classes, a streak of 10 straight 9 win seasons and 9 straight 10 win seasons, a National Title, a Rose Bowl Win, a Fiesta Bowl win and another appearance in the NC game don't really warrant a 6* prestige rating according to you.

I'm thinking that it is possible the Fresno State and Hawaii drops are in part due to the loss of Boise State and Nevada (in the future) to the MWC. The quality of their conference opponents will take a massive drop due to such movements. When your conference takes a massive prestige hit like that then it would make sense that the individual programs that are tied to it will take one as well.

Texas is the premier program in the Football State. It is the number #1 jewel to be had in competition to build super conferences. Despite a freakish 5-7 season I really don't think there is a team in the nation that is More deserving of 6* then Texas. I am not saying there are no equals but Texas is up there and it takes more then One bad season to pull them down.

As I pointed out when he posted this, his example was in error--Houston was a 3* program in last year's game, not a 4.

These ratings don't mean anything really. How can a team that lost all of their impact players on offense still be rated an A overall? Bama doesn't even have a starting qb right now. Alabama and Arkansas have the same overall offensive grade, now that is funny. Arkansas has arguably the best receiving group in the nation, we have a back coming off a 1,300 yard season and a quarterback who many say CAN be as good as Mallett. I really don't care what these grades look like, I'm just ready to see what the individual player ratings look like. Arkansas gained a prestige star as well. Let's go Bobby P. PIG SOOIE!!!

1. Alabama has 2 very good young QBs...not deciding on one yet does not warrant not having one. It might be a step down from McElroy but that's expected. That said, they do not need a good QB to win this year, just a game manager.
2. Alabama has a RB that is more physically talented than the one they just lost. Richardson will dominate, and their depth at the position will result in them running, running, and running over people some more this year.
3. They have a solid core of WR's returning and I think the Carter kid transfer from OSU will start and do well. None will be Julio that's for sure.

Arkansas definitely has the better offense though on paper, but Alabama will probably have the best D in football this coming year and has their two toughest games at home in Arkansas and LSU(IMO, these are the two toughest opponents for them). Arkansas is really the only team Bama will play this year that has an offense that should and will cause the Bama defense some issues throughout the game against them. I can't wait for that game to be honest.

The SEC West is loaded and will be brutal this year, on the game and in real life.

I can agree with some of that, but I don't think you can rate guys based on what you think they will become. Remove the team name off the players and rate them based on what they are able to do not on who they play for. Alabama will be good but they have some unproven guys in key positions on offense and I bet those players will be rated like they are all americans. Sept 24th Arkansas will shock the world in Tuscaloosa. SEC West is more than brutal this year as it was last year.

Pryor? Who is Pryor? There is no Pryor on NCAA 2012. OSU Qb# 2 will be there because the game is not based on real life. He's gonna run you ragged in ur dynasty unless you take him out. It really doesn't effect me considering I haven't started a dynasty with OSU ever.

Absolutely agree

You guys DO realize that in the game, in the actual game when you play a dynasty mode with Texas and you had as season like they just had you would go down a notch right?

The issue isn't about what is right or wrong, the issue is why do team ratings change outside of the box that don't the follow rules that dictate team ratings changes inside the box. All the fanboys need to relax. It isn't about Notre Dame, it isn't about Texas, nobody has a vendetta against anybody.

We are trying to figure out WHY changes were made and why some weren't due to a lack of consistency regarding prestige rules EA themselves set. Thats it, its an objective discussion, please stop being so defensive.

I honestly don't have a problem with the ratings (I do with the Prestige, but it really isn't a big deal)

I am pretty sure it is for balancing online. They gave us the ability to edit the rosters so we can play realistic Dynasties, but online they don't want the same 4 teams being used. With everyone rated high you will have more teams used Online and playing a game like Washington vs Alabama won't be an automatic win for Bama.

You probably nailed it right on the head here. I just still think it sucks. In real life you still see good teams getting blown out by better teams but with the default rosters you wont see that.

Hmm... looks ok for the most part. I'm curious how Michigan got B+ overall defense after how bad they were last year on that side of the ball. I like how they tweaked the prestige ratings a little, bumping Auburn up to 6 and Notre Dame down to 5 was nice.

# 256 He1nousOne1 @ 06/24/11 01:47 AM
Michigan really does have some quality athletes on the team. They are not the top notch calibre that Michigan has gotten in the past but they are by no means horrible. The problem lately has been the leadership and when that is the problem it doesn't matter how good the quality of individuals is. I'm hoping now that individual coaches are simulated and tracked that the leadership side of the equation will now be part of Dynasty. Without that Michigan will be a top 10 team every year in the game once again despite their lackluster performances lately on the real field.

# 257 Freakydeaky9 @ 06/25/11 12:45 AM
I think it's funny how if you have all B's and a C+ for special teams you get a 3 star prestige (Like Nevada) but get the c+ in specials teams to a B you get 4

Also does prestige really affect how well the team plays? Or is it just to tell people this program is this big nationally?

Yeah pretty much. In dynasty mode the lower your prestige, the least amt of top players are interested in your school. So your schools prestige plays a huge role in recruiting in dynasty. Outside of dynasty it has no real effect.
