Madden 12 News Post

IGN has posted details on Madden NFL 12 Superstar Mode with a Franchise Mode article coming tomorrow.

Check out some of the new Madden NFL 12 Superstar Mode screenshots, right here.

Quote:
"Practices now have a purpose because of the new experience points system. Each practice session gives you ten plays to rack up points. Using an improved version of Gameflow, Madden's computer-controlled play-calling option, you run through random plays you might see on game day. The better you perform, the more points you earn. And those points in turn are spent to improve your player. There are no silly focused sessions to improve specific abilities. It's simple and it should open up considerably more freedom in Superstar mode. As a result, Tiburon's hope is that no two Superstars will be the same.

To that end, there's more to your player than just his attributes. New this year are traits and tendencies, which you set to determine the mental aspects of your player. After all, two linebackers might have a high tackle rating, but one could always play it safe and wrap up the ball carrier while the other always wants to put a little hurt into the opponent."

Just like Emmit Smith, the o-line is the only reason they put up good stats.

He's a 57! Whats going to happen when he gets to be an 80? Hopefully it was on rookie difficulty. I like a challenge.

I understand. Hopefully it was on Rookie.

Anyone else see the problem in this? It would appear that no matter how bad you start off, it still makes you the starter, practice doesn't earn you your spot but just makes you better.

This guy is a rookie who is slower than Jones, weaker than Barber and only 57 overall; yet he's at the top of the depth chart?

i get that, but he was the first pick in the draft and the raiders didnt have an elite QB. i guess what im really asking is, if my superstar was in ryan malletts situation would i start of tom brady or an elite player like that? NO lol

Saw this earlier, but didnt notice that he was a starter.
THIS HAS TO BE FIXED!!!
I hope you dont start off as a Starter as a 57 OVR. My excitement for this mode will diminish if so

You're a 60 BEFORE you allocate your initial points. I don't know the mode terribly well because it's not my area, but I'll dig into it and see what I can see.

Well any little bit of info IGN gives tomorrow will keep me happy until Monday that is for sure. Embargo or not. Tomorrow can't come soon enough.

Wait a minute guys. This could be a good thing. See the flame in the top right corner? That could mean that he's been "hot" in practice and the game doesnt start players soley based on their overall rating. So if you have it on a high difficulty im guessing you wont be getting hot in practice. I may be reaching here.

Maybe he's starting just so the guy playing can check it out. Cause it doesn't look like a complete build, having the OVR SPD ACC info above the play info seems odd and would be kind of annoying look up then down to figure out which stat is which.

Obviously not a complete version of the game, so hopefully my 55 rated QB doesn't start over some 93 rated one. Or else I'll probably not play SS any and just keep to RTG.

Kind of hard to imagine how boring SS has been when RTG is so good and it only last 3-4 years! Madden should let you take it slow cause you have a long career ahead of you!

This is great news overall. Finally, giving some love to Superstar and Offline Franchise (hopefully with coaching).

As for the rookie HB starter issue, it's possible that this was shown for demonstration purposes only. Also possible, he is hot right now meaning that he had a great practice week. But also possible, it's preseason (which would explain the 0.0 YPG). It's possible that in this particular preseason game, this rookie HB got the starting nod over the veterans.

After reading the IGN article, I'm also presuming that there is actually more to this game mode than has been released to the public right now. They didn't mention importing draft classes, RTG players, effects of age, etc. This might turn out to me more of a teaser than the whole enchelada.

I fully agree.
I usually play almost all Be a Pro games(besides NHL), but Superstar has been TERRIBLE. I didnt play SS since 09.

Just because he starts doesn't mean ya gonna get starter snaps.

In the beginning i assume you have to take advantage of every time you line up

# 60 MrJ2006 @ 05/12/11 11:45 PM
Yeah, I hope this isn't gonna be like years past where if you're a QB drafted by Indianapolis, you start over manning no matter your stats. Very annoying!
