MLB 11 The Show News Post

Okay everyone....this is the O.S.F.M. Opening Day set.

LINK.....http://www.sendspace.com/file/tckbk5

It is in the Roster Vault under
O.S.F.M. Opening Day....creator Knight165

This set includes....but not limited to:

-All teams 40 man players are correct(in some cases new players created)
-Approximately 80 new players added to replace players no longer in a teams system and to bring AAA(in most cases) up to date
-All players moved to have AAA/AA as close to possible. In most cases all players in AAA are present(some may have had to be put in AA). AA in some cases are exact....most cases though will have filler players from Single A...in some case quite a few from Single A
-MLB lineups/rotations as close to Opening Day as possible(rotations are not set up 1-2-3-4-5 according to how pitchers are percieved, but as they PITCHED to start the season....please don't say that so and so is not the #1 starter on a team, why is he in the first slot?(unless it's an error on my part)
-MiLB lineups/rotations set as to their Opening Day(as above). I tried to get AAA perfect, but I did not create/replace players at the expense of removing prospects....even fringe ones in most cases. I have about 35 players that would make AAA perfect...I will create them and release a player pack for those interested in that.
-Some minor tweaks(minor league players only!)

This is not a magic roster(nor is ANY), so if you don't use 30 team control the lineups and rotations will reset!!!

-For DL'ed players when the season started.....they are in Single A....use the DL feature to injure them or move them up if you like.
Here is the injuries to START the season...

Kevin Goldstein says Bryce Harper might have historically bad makeup:
“It’s impossible to find any talent evaluator who isn’t blown away by Harper’s ability on the field, but it’s equally difficult to find one who doesn’t genuinely dislike the kid. One scout called him among the worst amateur players he’s ever seen from a makeup standpoint, with top-of-the-scale arrogance, a disturbingly large sense of entitlement, and on-field behavior that includes taunting opponents. ‘He’s just a bad, bad guy,’ said one front-office official.”
Sounds like you have a point....not trying to continue anything here, just not sold on this kid until he humbles himself and hits MLB pitching...or even AAA pitching for that matter.

What about all of the other scouts and people who know him who think that his mental makeup is his greatest attribute? This can go both ways.

After thinking about this Bryce Harper stuff some more, I think this is a great reason to have a potential rating in this game. One that is adjustable of course.

Either way, I'm loving these rosters ....

Opinions are like...nevermind. That ESPN article was from today. Proof is in the pudding my friend.

I'm not saying he can't rake against HS, JUCO and low A pitching and that he has some very serious talent, but this is not the first and probably not the last case of this guy having a maturity issue.

If you think that is "proof" then you need to reevaluate the way that you disseminate information.

Do you think that ESPN is a legitimate source for stories like these? Do you think that they fairly report these types of stories?

Most of the people who get caught up on these issues do so because they've been conditioned by the tabloid mainstream sports media where things are never put into context, large portions of stories and many important parts of stories like these are often ignored due to hack writing and poor reporting due to ignorance of the facts.

Sure, it would be better for everyone if Bryce just ignored these things, but major leaguers usually don't get knocked on for retaliating and standing up for themselves on the field like Bryce has. Bryce doesn't initiate these things. Even if he did, it's not an indication that he is a "bad guy" or that he is "very mentally unstable" as was stated about him in a couple of previous posts.

Can you import a player from the Player Vault once you've started a franchise? I was wondering if it was possible to edit a player, export him to the Vault, and then import him over draftees.

I actually just saw a story on espn that showed Harper blowing a kiss at the opposing pitcher after he hit a homerun. They said the nationals MLB players said they think Harper is too cocky and needs to go through the process to be humbled and get his mind straight. No doubt he's going to be unreal, just how he does it.

What I stated in my previous post was in direct response to how that story is being reported.

Should Harper have blown him a kiss or stood there admiring his home run? No, he shouldn't have blown him a kiss and standing there admiring a home run is debatable, but the other team started all of this. Harper was hit the day before, thrown at in the first inning of the game that he blew the pitcher a kiss in and stared down by the pitcher while he was in the dugout on more than one occasion.

You probably won't find that information on ESPN or the majority of the other sports networks. That's one reason why everyone should stop getting their sports "infotainment" from ESPN.

This Harper hating and criticizing is getting real old real quick, just like the LeBron hating.

I respected what you said Jason, until you compared this to Lebron. There is nothing good about Lebum, yet Harper still has potential to be great.

And seriously.. toss your bat.. swear at him.. flip him the finger.. but he blew him a kiss?

PS. I dont want this thread to get locked or whatever so try to keep it on the whole Stats and Attributes discussion

I didn't compare this to the LeBron situation. I compared this to the LeBron hating. Those are two completely different and separate issues.

While there's nothing personal going on here, I do agree. This shouldn't even be discussed in this thread.

I did know he was thrown at, didn't know he was hit the day before. What he's going to learn is that these things aren't helping his cause. What he'll learn is just to let his actions that are resulted on the scoreboard speak for itself. I don't hate Harper, I honestly want him to be very successful because he's worked his tail off to get where he is. I just want to see him do it in all the right ways, ya know? I won't even start with Lebron being a hardcore NBA fan. Either way, Harper is going to be a great player, probably starting in the OF in 2012, I just hope he makes a positive showing on the national stage when he dos get the call up.

Today's article from the very respected baseball man, former GM Jim Bowden. The timing is uncanny if you think about it.

http://espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-offi...ce-harper-back

FYI, I'm a BoSox fan and truly could care less about Harper. We have a Bryce of our own who has been raking pretty well himself(currently on the DL ), and that's who I'm paying attention too atm...

Anyway, I apologize for hijacking the thread here Knight. I'm walking away now. Again, thank you for these rosters!

No problem and you're welcome!

Harper certainly does seem to have some issues....

He's just young...and really, really good at the game. He'll level off once he realizes how quickly he can get to the show if he levels his head.

# 656 Jason_19 @ 06/08/11 06:31 PM
People shouldn't be trying to psychologically analyze and diagnose Harper. That's not right or fair in any way.

What about the pitcher that blew a kiss at him first, stared him down in the dugout on multiple occasions and then threw at him? What about all of the other incidents that Harper's been involved in that he did not start? Everyone needs to ask themselves why you and most of the sports media are ignoring that part of the equation.

Should he have reacted the way that he did? No, he shouldn't have, but this isn't basketball or football where the person who usually reacts to something is the one who gets "caught" and penalized. This is baseball where the instigator is the one who typically gets knocked by players, fans and the infotainment sports media. Hmm. I wonder why that hasn't been the case with Harper. The answer is blatantly obvious.

I agree.
He's a kid...getting a lot of spotlight......it's certainly a factor in some of his actions which IMO are a little bush. If as Jason is saying...the similar things were done in his direction....that too is bush IMO.
I'm a firm believer in acting like a professional when you are practicing your profession. Beer leagues?...pull your pants down if you like, but when you are representing the people that pay you....act like a gentleman....REGARDLESS of what is tossed your way.
He's young...he'll learn.

That being said....I don't think that his actions will effect his abilities one iota. He is a beast...will be a bigger beast quite soon. I think my initial ratings show that to be true!
If he loses the support of his teammates and/or fans...that may change. Hopefully he gets a coach who talks some sense into him when he is young and convinces him that letting your play do your talking for you is the best thing.

Just my take.

I agree. I don't think he's this bad, but think of Milton Bradley. That guy had amazing potential, not Harper's potential of course, but he still could've been very very good, and he's thrown it away by having a big head and thinking he's superior to his teammates, now he's unemployed. I know it's NFL, but the same thing happened with Ryan Leaf, he had great talent but had a terrible attitude and was ran out of the league. Know a lot of people will say Leaf was really bad, but he started out at the highest level possible. Harper still has to prove himself in the show. I think he's too talented to struggle, but Brandon Wood average in the minors is in the high .300s and in the pro's he can't break .200. Just some things to think about, but I think National fans can surely say they are excited about 2013 or 2014 when their prospects are in their prime. They have some potential.

I haven't played this game in a while and I'm just getting started with my franchise. Has anyone created and uploaded a base franchise file?
