MLB 11 The Show News Post

Okay everyone...this is the initial release of the Operation Sports Full Minors.

We'll call this one the "Spring Training" version.
I will caution that the MLB should be entirely correct and the minor league levels will be a bit "raw" until the actual minor league teams get their assigned players and we can incorporate it.

The lineups are projected...a lot from you and a lot from other sources...for the "Opening Day" set...they will be more precise.
The minor league lineups will be set when their season begins.
We will also fine tune the FA list for the Opening Day set if necessary in the second release.

*************NOW HEAR THIS....NOW HEAR THIS...************

I have never reported a post. NEVER. I have no "ban hammer" mod status either. But I'm just putting this out there right now......that if there is one post that that in any way demeans one of the editors....by saying "this is ridiculous"...."what a joke"....or anything that isn't presented as a constructive criticism or suggestion I will bring on my own version of an e-nuclear bomb. If it's my work...blast away, but these guys have done a TREMENDOUS job in getting this set out in "record" time....and IMO each and every one has done top notch work.
You can criticize....but keep it polite...that's all I ask.

Each and every one of these guys deserves a hand......and Ridin' and I couldn't have done it without them this year.
In no particular order
alexbraun, the blackbra, bodhiball, TNKNGM, sink4ever, El Mayimbe, oldgoldnblue767, sweett310, Vin, theaub, CWPalehose, tribefanisu2003, PSULions, GreatNorther47, Karle, Ivanhoe, Rwings, mhag4f, cnelly, bergie56, juicer240, MNPuckett, Apostle, Throwback, WB1214, ltw0303cavs, authentic, KJWilliams, TripleThreat, athomp, SergioRodriguez13, bdolski, Qb, ChaseB, GoBucs, tree3five, ilstu, GTATrifecta, slthree, cmorris25, nkrause, franch1se....and I simply cannot stress enough how much Ridin' did once again on this set. Everyone....TREMENDOUS WORK
That being said....this is also the first time we've had so many hands working on this and it's tough to catch anything and everything that might be noted when it's just a few guys working on it. We'll need a little latitude towards errors that would need fixing....

I also want to thank Steve_OS and of course Operation Sports for allowing us a venue to bring our work to ...and have others share in it. Kudos all around.....

....and finally ...thanks to you guys for all your feedback and patience throughout the process.

Okay....now the nice thing about a "beta" release is being able to fix things and with player import...that's easier than ever. So we will be open to hearing suggestions and fixes. Bring it to our attention and we will fix it.

OFFSHOOT
Here is a link to the O.S.F.M with only 25 players on the 40 man rosters...this will be your first step in no lineup shuffling ....with either 1 team or 30 team control. Keep in mind....with 1 team control...there is no way to add the 15 players to the 40 yourself...and with 30 team control, you'll have to do it on DAY 1 of the regular season(or any time after before the Rule V draft)...
Thanks to HUSTLIN' OWL for these!

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xu89ou

Here is how to keep the CPU from shuffling your lineups
There are 3 ways with using 30 team control.
First...you must create a profile that gives the lineups/rotations MANUAL for any team you want lineups to be under your control.

1.- Use a roster that has only 25 players on the 40 man roster. Hustlin' Owl has created one and the link is above...With this....if you use only 1 team control......you are locked into having the CPU teams having no more than 25 men on the 40 man roster. If you use 30 team control at any time AFTER spring training is over...you can add the 15 players to the 40 man roster and the CPU will not juggle lineups/rotations. In all cases....the CPU will still sub in lineups for fatigue

2.-Using a roster with the 40 man roster full....play/sim Spring Training until the day BEFORE the final day of ST.....go through each team and manually send down 15 players(make sure none are in any lineups/rotation) for the CPU teams.....No need to take them off the 40 man roster. The lineups will remain intact when going into the season now.

3.-The obvious....wait until DAY 1 of the regular season and set the CPU team lineups/rotations....they will stay and only be changed for fatigue.....be aware...you will have to reset them due to injuries for the CPU teams...

Here is how to manually injure players
-You must put INJURIES on MANUAL....and INJURY MANAGEMENT on AUTO for the CPU teams(if one team control...it is already on AUTO)
-Go to the DISABLED LIST.....Use L2/R2 to cycle through the teams(1 team or 30 team control)...use the L1/R1 button to go to the roster for injuring players....click on a player and give him an injury....
-With 30 team control...if you have injury management on AUTO...the CPU should put the player on the DL.....you can do it by going back to the DISABLED LIST screen and placing them yourself. With just 1 team control.....the CPU will put the injured player on the DL...you cannot do it yourself.

No, there's no way to extend players with roster control in RTTS that I can see. I was able to put the selected player in FA and keep the bad player on the roster, but you can't sign FA in RTTS. You might be able to use Import Player to import a player with the correct contract, and edit them into the player you want, but I have my doubts about that.

Scott, it took me about 15 minutes to do that with Drew Stubbs. I expect it would take 30 minutes to extend all the players on a 1 year deal on your favorite team. It's mostly switching players in roster control, cutting the substituted players, and signing them out of FA. It doesn't take long to do 1 team, but it might take a long time if you want to do it for all 30 teams. There's no problem extending players, but it might be difficult if you want to make the contracts accurate to real life.

I've had some luck, but it's been hit or miss. Having to go to the 3rd page of free agents and I go way down the list to a random guy and swap them and then swap back.

In Franchise mode, if i use 30 team control, can i have it so that the computer will still make their own trades? i want to start a franchise with the Jays but i like playing the odd game or two with other teams. I also want the computer to wheel and deal throughout the season. Keeps things interesting for me. So is there anyway for me to have the best of both worlds?

This interests me too.
I want the CPU to make reasonable trades without going overboard.
It starts looking like the fantasy draft after the first year.

i like playing with realistic lineups too, but i mean it can only go one year. after you get through the first year, then it gets a little boring if the computer isnt switching things up.

Not sure if this was caught or not, but on the Jays Edwin Encarnation is #10

Looks like the Indians have released minor leaguer Preston Mattingly.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=310403105

That should free up a minor league spot on the Indians for someone else. If anything I'd add Hector Rondon there for future use if no suitable replacement can be found.

Does anyone else think that the opening day roster set should be back dated to 4/1?
Personally, I'd prefer not to begin a season that incorporates changes that haven't technically occurred yet.

# 809 Mike10693 @ 04/03/11 05:37 PM
I thought when you downloaded HustlinOwl's rosters the CPU wasn't supposed to mess around with their lineups?? For example I started a Red Sox franchise and the Yankees had Jeter hitting 7th and the Twins had Morneau hitting 2nd. What am I missing?

Personally, I'd prefer not to begin a season that incorporates changes that haven't technically occurred yet.
They will be as of actual Opening Day. So Matt Holliday will still be on active roster and such.

im sorry if this has already been discussed in the past 87 pages but when/will there be a set released with pitch edits and player edits for that matter for the MLB?

Has not been decided if they are going to do it this year.

The Giants Double-A affliate Richmond and Single-A affliate San Jose have announced their rosters. The bold players are currently not in OSFM Spring Training V4 and would be good candidates for player packs. I'll list Triple-A as soon as it's announced. There may be players cut from the organization that are in the current set. Knight, I'll be making many of these players for my own set. If you would like me to save you some time, I can send them over to you for player packs or last minute substitutes. Just send me a PM and let me know. Last note, Ehire Adrianza is unconfirmed as being on the roster. EDIT:Confirmed Adrianza will be in Double-A

Getting the roster correctly without lineups being scrambled after ST is one of the most aggravating things I've ever done. Why can't a mode be made where you don't have to go thru the spring training crap and go straight to regular season with a downloaded roster without having to deal with all this mess? Jeez

You know, an easier work around for your roster's to remain intake is to just set them and save them before you start. Then run a test sim, go to transactions and see what incorrect moves were made and write them down. Then start over with your saved roster and just drop those players from the 40 man. Plus you have the list written down and can quickly go back through and add them to the 40 man. Without dealing with nearly 500 players to put back on the 40 man throughout the league, you have about 50.

I only did it for 1 team control and I only had to remove 3 players from the 40 man roster. I'm not going to trouble myself with the rest! But it should work the same for 30 team control.

You still need to set batting orders, 25 man, 40 man to opening day.

The CPU will always move players around based on giving guys (stamina) days off and injuries. The best work around I found in years past, was to set notifications to manual (never Auto-fix) and every other day just skim the CPU lineups for awkward CPU induced changes and fix.

I always felt spending an extra minute or so before each of my games was moot relative to my desire of realism.

It starts looking like the fantasy draft after the first year.
You can veto unrealistic trades.

Thank you, I will try that.

I'm wondering if there is a way to let the CPU optimize the minor league rosters, for I don't really care if the minor league rosters are identical to real life. I'm using 30 team control and the only mode options I have set to manual are lineups/rotations, 40 man, and injury management. By having roster moves set to auto, I thought maybe the CPU would reshuffle the AAA and AA rosters after spring training but this isn't the case. In another test I tried setting lineups/rotations and 40 man to auto and the CPU still didn't promote/demote anybody in the minor leagues. Is this because the CPU only makes promotions and demotions when an injury occurs?
With 40 set to manual, you can 'auto-fix' minor league injuries / player shortages for CPU teams, and manually perform call-ups for MLB teams. The caveat is that yes, you'll loose the CPU calling players up based on performance. This also becomes a rather involved process for September call-ups.

With injury notifications on, you get the chance to scroll a CPU's roster across all levels and see who would be a good call-up. Beyond that, the CPU is typically pretty good on managing the minor league rosters (and moving players between them, as well as setting those lineups).
