Looks like they fixed the DNA facemasks but not the revos.

Dang, I thought it would have been actual in game footage of the game in motion. Other than that the lighting look's amazing!

These are just the first shots released. I'm sure they will release more, many using the pre-snap camera angle, before the game releases in July.

What exactly is gamers suppose to be patient about?

Are you asking folks to ignore the history of this title?
Issues from '08 version are still in the game, and never get addressed.

When someone posses a question when the opportunity arises, characters always want to say "Too Early or Be Patient".

Let's bring in the most recent history with this game.
Tuners were dropped that messed the game up more, then the community that continued to try and make the game playable after their Tuners, got left High-n-Dry without a word to discuss how things were worse.

Here we are in March, the first peep about the game, and I guess those folks should get behind the '08, '09, '10 crowd to try and push the issue of addressing constant problems that continue to plague the game.

Truth be told (per EA Dev on EA Forum years ago)
By May, what's in, is what's in.
And whatever problems there are, "Might" get patched.
That's the history my friend.

We're still waiting for '08 issues to be address, but hair, facemask, bands etc... get first dibs.
So while the water is hot, you got to jump in while you can, because it will become cold very soon and everyone will be saying maybe next year.

There is about 6 weeks left until May.
Guess it's still too early

In the video, he says "If you think about the gameplay, when your playing in the shadows you don't want your player to be too dark..."

So they are talking about how it improves gameplay, but don't want to show it in action in the one view players actually play the game in? Why should I have to wait for this info since the lighting is what is being put on display here?

How about we wait until we know all of the improvements and features are revealed before we start complaining about what's not in.

I love the new grass look but more excited to here dynasty mode improvements.

# 89 PVarck31 @ 03/16/11 02:27 AM
The skepticism is certainly warranted. But lets not take it to the umpteenth degree, just yet. There was a marked improvement from 10-11, its hard to argue that. If and they can continue on that path then we might see a very good football game. So lets just wait and see if this is or isn't the case.

For all we know there could be real time physics, consecutive hit tackles, and razor sharp defense this year. Or we could have none of that. Either way, we have to wait to find out. So all of this over a screenshot more less, its kinda silly.

What they really should do is release a schedule for when different bits of information are going to be released. Example: 1st Gameplay video coming on April **. They would be like mini-release dates to look forward to and put on the calendar.

That way you could also tell the people that think they neglected all gameplay issues to put dreads in the game "chill out, wait until April **" when the gameplay video is out.

For me personally I just can't wait to find out about dynasty mode. I wish I knew what day they were going to be releasing that information -- or at least when the next blog post is going to be.

Good steps forward with 11, keep it rolling with 12

Love that 3D pop, hope it's in the game and not just a "perfect world" presentation that artists love so much (vs. real world).

Speaking of 3D, you gotta wonder when they are going to go down that road. The game could bog down for years if they're trying to get it to work for 3D TV sets. But 3D NCAA would be cool.

After that, holograms. Can't wait to see what NCAA '21 looks like.

Anyway, congrats to the design team, looks like an amazing upgrade to the visuals, and yes that matters plenty.

Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay...I more or less ignore everything that anyone says about a game until the retail version is out. It's easy to get sidetracked by the uber-efficient EA marketing freight train, but until July, the dev diaries, cherry-picked screenshots, feature additions, random promises about gameplay, and all the hype in the lead-up to release doesn't mean anything. It's the same song-and-dance routine every year.

It's cool to get excited (they suckered me into watching the vid), but as always, wait-n-see is most prudent...

Maybe I'm nitpicking but I'd rather have a 3D crowd and live sideline than enhanced lighting (which we get every year) and 3D grass. I'm tired of the clay robots that sit in that same position on an infinite loop on the sidelines, it really degrades the overall quality of the visuals imo.

ummm clearly ncaa 12 doesn't look at all like madden 07 (which was the first real next gen madden )so i don't see your point...the game has undeniably been upgraded visually.Ofcourse they were going to say "its the best looking" back then that's marketing. all that matters is that the game looks gorgeous now.

Sure there are more pressing issues, but I'd love this. Especially when it comes to a college game. Often times after breaking a big run, or catching a long pass, the crowd acts like nothing happened.

My friend, you should re-read my post.
It has nothing to do with improvements or features, as you put it.
It's about the process of never addressing the issues that a very select few have labored hours/days/weeks tweaking sliders and player ratings in an effort to minimize some of the same issues that remain in the game since '08.

So if:
Jan-Feb is too early to address prior years issues to make the game better.
Mar-Apr is the showcase of Visual and Accessory inclusion/upgrades.
May is the too late to add/change anything date.
June is the buildup to release push.
July is the release.
Aug-Oct consist of issues threads and Patch/Tuner attempts to fix "some".
Nov-Dec must turn focus towards next years release. (the game is, what it is)

Then a recycle of the same process that's been done the past 3 years.
So, when can we stop avoiding what really needs to be talked about in depth?

I'm simply asking those who say "It's too early or be Patient", when is the right time that the tough questions can be asked/answered to help make this game what it should be?

Because folks aren't tweaking and editing Visuals and Accessories come November to make the game better or more playable.

These things were found long after the Visual/Accessory folks left town:
-Awr decides the pecking order of passes to players on Offense.
-High Play Recognition caused DL to jump and kill PA Passes and screens.
-High Hit Power was more so an Aggressiveness to the Ball, than tackling.
-High Agility for OL had a Major impact on fluid blocking.

There are many other findings, but time has never been given to discuss these findings and how they impact the gameplay.
Because it requires some in-depth discussion about "Gameplay", which has NEVER been given the due time it needs.

So when folks want discussion about Gameplay, it's not that they are as you say Complaining.
It's that history shows they will see some of the same gameplay issues after release, when remedies have tested and made known and are available, yet still remain absent.

It's too early, it's too late.
When is the right time?

Oh, well.
Can't beat life into a dead horse.

Maybe you should re-read the thread title.

The subject at hand is "Visual Upgrades". If you have something to say on that subject, please do. If, otoh, you want to ramble off on to some other subject(s), do us all a favor and start a new thread.

Thanks.

I like seeing the new visuals released this time of year. But maybe EA should release two "first-look" blogs. One showcasing the new visuals and one addressing some of the glitches they fixed from the previous release, since those are fresh in our minds.

For instance, while I'm admiring the photos and video in the blog, I'm wondering if they addressed the recruiting freeze that killed my dynasty....prompting me to trade the game. Cool new graphics don't do me much good if my dynasty is going to keep crapping out.
