FYI.. for those stating why was Madson in there against Smith, I believe Thorn mentioning the Phillies going to there closer as in Madson. If anything it makes you wonder how old this build is or how outdated the rosters are

Have asked him this question of Twitter. He seems pretty good at getting back, has to me a couple of times, so will post an answer if I get one here.

This is probably the most negative community I've ever looked at. Seriously? That video is already so much better than 2K10. Many of you might not remember 2K10, but I actually just played it yesterday (no lie.)
It's not the community but rather mostly those that come out of the woodwork during pre release information.
The core community here is awesome.

I'm sold.
From all the videos and information, I've decided to get MLB2K11 over Fight Night Champion.

Should be a good year for ball fans.

That video looked great, and this is coming from a Show user. I'm going with 2K this year.

This sums it up perfectly IMO. It's like 2 weeks before release date the forum becomes filled with 12 year olds who have yet learned that just because THEY think something, doesn't mean WE do. Wish we could add a age limit to boards etc to weed these morons out.

Anyway back to the video, it seems that basing on what other people have said, this could be an earlier build. Either way, I love a lot of the things shown in it but I don't think it was the best representation for what the new things they have implemented play like.

I actually like the batting view and fielding view with the ball off the bat. The graphics may not be up to par with The Show.... but the gameplay might be right up there after seeing this video.

The pitch to home tracks so much better than what I'm used to on The Show.

Wow... I'm actually second guessing which game to get now. That looked absolutely fun.

Well, looking at the video i came away slightly happy and slightly sad. The same things that have annoyed me for the past years still show, like lack of emotion from players and crowd. And since they really didn't show that much fielding i couldn't see any noticeable changes.

For the life of me for a first gameplay video, there marketing team is either clueless or really just does not care. Cause for the life of me, wouldnt there first video want to show things that are new? or improved? Just dont get it.

I hear ya. I really wish they had a marketing guy who was passionate about baseball, or was at least mindful enough to realize that he should let someone else make the video who knows the game better and can spotlight the improvements.

Thats incredibly good to hear. Ronnie did a terrible job showing any part of what was talked about in any of the DD's

To expand on that tweet, seeing the game on a big-screen HDTV helped to show off the improved color palette, and that even just the colors really do a lot to improve the graphics in the game. Plus, as some have mentioned earlier, day games look great in 2K, and I played in a day game.

In addition, just seeing the presentation over the course of a couple innings helps to show how everything is syncing up.

the game is shaping up very well.....

I have already pre-ordered the other game, but I am going to be very confused when March 8th rolls around. I am really tempted to get both, but I may just wait until I get sick of one and then trade the other game in for this one? Ugh I can't decide. The whole fielding system looks great and the analog hitting in this game (for me) is much more intuitive.

He may be up against impossible odds (I don't know what the culture is like inside 2K Games), but Ronnie seems to hurt games' perception more than he helps. That's a problem.

I'm astonished that, with all the criticism that this series has received, THIS is the gameplay video they released. A no-doubt, opposite field grand slam by Seth Smith and commentary that made no sense in relation to the situation? Come on.

I'm very, very disappointed, and I actually had a modicum of hope for this year's version. I actually have faith in the developer, but only if they COMPLETELY scrap every single line of code that has ever been written for this series and start entirely from scratch.

# 136 elfdutch @ 02/25/11 05:17 AM
I am disappointed too. But on the other hand, i just noticed some new vids regarding defense. They look much much better.
Seems to me the difference between night and day games is still too big.
On the ps3 version the day games (of mlb2k10) look fantastics, whereas the night games have ps2 graphics.

I hope this is solved.....

I wish they would note on the video what build it is and when it was recorded. That way we could better relate to it and understand that it was older and things are still being worked on or this is what we get. I think that would solve a lot of the discussions of frustration we all have. Some of the new screens and video seem to be way better looking that this video. Even the trailer they released was really impressive to me. Some of it was hard to determine if it was an actual MLB game at times.

THIS! I really hope they get this right.

I can't speak too much to this at this point. I only played half of one game, and it was low scoring -- Pirates vs. Rays. You could definitely see a lot of pitcher animations in terms of them getting fired up or shaken up a bit though.

Are you going to write a preview article?
