MLB 11 The Show News Post

I took these shots using the build from 12-15-10 no camera trickery both shots were taken using the in game photo feature. Same time of day as well. The only difference is one shot is taken in MLB 10 The Show, the other in MLB 11 The Show. The MLB 10 shot is the one on the top.

It looks like a huge deal to me.

I never really paid attention to them last year (they did not bother me), but after seeing this, there is a big noticeable difference. The player models look amazing now! Spot on to MLB players!

And yes, finally we can stop hearing the complaining about them!

Spoiler

Yeah, and you can see it in the feet as well! The whole model is redone and looks fantastic!

I like how the shadows have been softened up too... should do wonders for playing in places like Chase and Miller Park, in sunny conditions.

Indeed. The lead who is in charge of the lighting is a maestro, and pure talent! So darn impressed!

Someone here earlier metoned the option to change facial hair. I personally would want to go a step further and let us change a players hair. It's true players like people change it up during the year.

I want to know if by "full day/night cycle" they simply mean that now there is a dusk and the transition is more realistic for night games? Or if now there is a true 24 hour clock built in, which would mean a few things:

1. Afternoon games could stretch to dusk/night if they go deep into extra innings and depending on the time of year
2. Games can start at any time, as opposed to just 1 PM and 7 PM like in last year's game. So you could have the 3:05 start like some teams do on Opening Day, also you could have playoff games start in the late afternoon.

Those things would be great.

I think that they mean you could change facial hair on created players last year. If they made it to where you could change non-created players facial hair then that would be awesome.

I would love to be able to edit hair and facial hair on SCEA players.

Amen. It is quite annoying seeing Jayson Werth with a beard in the game, but clean shaved IRL.

Yankees just signed Feliciano who was on the Mets and always had a chin full of hair, thats a no-no crosstown. More then likley will still have beard in game.

Didn't The Show get rid of Swisher's facial hair though when he crossed over? So I think there is still hope. I think the SCEA guys know the Yankees facial hair rule and will probably change Feliciano as well.

Why are the Twins' 50th anniversary sleeve patches still showing up on the Twins players? Also noticed the ASG patches on the Angels jerseys in the trailer... Those will definitely come off in 2011.

Are you guys just capturing footage using last year's uniforms?

I am so incredibly envious of PS3 users right now. Brian Wilson's face is spot-on.
