There is no difference Pre and post patch with growth. EA said on the official forums that all they did was fix the emails regarding growth so there aren't inconsistencies.
Player growth and CM in general are a total joke at the moment - i just had one of my top substitutes, who is both young and hi potential, drop -1 in OVR!!

They did do something to selling players. I like to play with Chelsea, and I always put some of their older players up for sale. In my CM that was started before the patch, Anelka was listed as "for sale" for over 3 years with never a single offer. It also took years to find takers for Terry, Alex, Lampard and others.
I started a new CM and sold Alex, Terry, Anelka, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, and Sturridge during the Summer transfer window. Huge, huge difference.
So, at least we have that going for us.

Good to know they fixed the issue with selling expensive players though i thought I'd read some people still having that problem. Def could be mistaken and i only play with smaller teams so i hadn't noticed this myself.

I'm still having problems selling players with high OVR ratings. Arshavin and Rosicky went the entire transfer window at the beginning of the year without an offer, they aren't even too expensive either, both under $25M.

Curious, you seem to reflect my dim view of FIFA's offline game modes. Are you familiar with the inability to apply acquired attributes to your Virtual Pro?
I had to delete my game twice now and both times my VP reach a point where I could no save my progress. After viewing my VP, I could no longer back out of that screen and I had to Y out to the 360 main menu.
I may pick-up PES2011 for some offline fun.

Fellas, Im having a hard time downloading the patch. Everytime I try, it stops at about 10% and then it says something like "Operation Failed" or something to that effect. I can't even update rosters if I wanted to because I can't sign online without updating the patch first. Im on PS3, by the way. Anyone know whats causing this or how I fix this?
Did the patch fix any of the tackling issues where the CPU tackles flawlessly?
What about the player growth going negative?

I may be still drinking the "Fifa" kool-aid, since I just recently traded in World Cup to buy this but the gameplay so far, to me, has been phenomenal. Yeah, the back&forth tackling issue is a little annoying but on World-Class it's made me play smarter and not just press "a" button on defense.
I saw a lot of posts complaining about "hard to score", "hard to create space", etc. This game made me realize that I was basically abusing my sprint button in Fifa 10 & World Cup to "create space" or usually just run towards the goal by constantly running past slower players.
I feel like I'm truly having to work hard to create goal opportunities against equal, or tougher opponents but in a good way. Lots of back passes, changing sides of the field, careful short passes around the 18-line, etc.
As far as CM mode, I'm just diving into that, after playing Football Manager Demo for a few weeks now. I was wondering if there are training options within CM, to help w/player growth? I didn't see any in the CM menu. Also, I noticed some previous posts complaining about player growth. What is directly attached to growing your young players? (Player ratings? Playing time? on-field performance? Again, is their a way to train players? If there is already a thread about this, sorry.
I know I have been spoiled with FM but just curious about what I can do as a manager in CM.
P.S.- I would HIGHLY suggest to anyone that has a PC to download Football Manager Demo (or just buy it) if you enjoy a deep, manager mode and keep FIFA 11 for BAP, online play, FUT, or just enjoy a more simplified manager mode. I get both my fixes this way. Just my .02

No Kool aid thats a really good assessment. Ive hated Fifa up until 11 i even traded in pes for it . Best footy game ive ever played bar none and it all because of the manual controls and how hard it is to create a chance.
I can play on 15/20 minute half's and still have realistic amount of chances.
Love live season cant get past that mode.
I can look past any short comings(and there are some for sure) as i feel the control and the tight game play on the pitch makes up for any of it.

I needed a deep MM fix, so I've reinstalled FIFA 11 for PC with Hybrid's gameplay tool mod. Results are fantastic, and I'm enjoying a struggling CM with Leeds at the moment.

I liked pes but it felt like i wasnt in control sometimes where as with Fifa i feel im in total control on all manual.
Still loving this game and havnt even played one game online.

I skipped World cup so i cant compare and was fed up with 10 real quick and traded it.
I play on all manual and slow and the best endorsement i can give it is that it plays like i would expect the premier league to play if i was a player on the pitch.
Very little time on the ball when it counts, if you miss control it expect to lose possession, having to probe around with passes forwards and back just to gain some ground. Stuff like that.

patch or no patch..everytime I come back this game is as frustrating to me as it gets..I play only vs CPU..teammates AI stupid..foul calling inconsistent..annoying substitution cinematics..repetetive cutscenes..poor replays..esh

however i am trying to edit it, hoping for some miracle, its just defensively this game gets me annoyed
Sadly this is my experience as a single player gamer as well. I usually throw it on every week or so hoping for a better experience but it only takes about half an hour for me to become frustrated. The game engine is beautiful, I love the ball physics and it looks great but the CPU just feels really one dimensional and every opponent feels exactly the same to play against. Not to mention that the manager mode is really, really dry.
I'm sure its a blast in multiplayer against an opponent who loves football though.
