Czar,
good video, but what ever happened to the rest of the 2k10 vs Live 10 battleground, it seemed as though you stopped after round 3.
whats up with that?

Thank god...the off ball logic and settings used to drive me up the wall, but it looks like they have fine tuned the logic

How many times have we heard coaches talk about how they would love to give a good scorer/shooter, more minutes, but they are terrified that they will get roasted on the other end of the floor.
This is going to make online drafts for leagues a lot more compelling, instead of folks drafting for scoring and rebounding only.

I was on the bed watching this video and my girl rolled over and asked if I was listening to Barry White. I told her "Shhhhh, it's Professor Czar given lessons.". She commenced to roll her eyes and watch TV as I took notes. Man I can't wait until Tuesday.
Respect Czar
Great strategy session. It's absolutely amazing how deep 2K11 is. There's just so much under the hood of this beast until it isn't funny. I'm looking so forward to the remainder of these strategy sessions and hope we get some on dribbling and shooting, especially in the post.

One of the best things I have heard about this years game is the off ball settings. The fact that we can finally have our guys stay at home on the shooters makes me happy and all that good stuff.
That alone improves the strategy aspect greatly. And it helps with the sim style not playing on ball d debate. Many times I would play off ball D on the shooters to make sure they don't go off on me.
Your run of scoring 35points + against my Wizards is over Danny Granger

Nice video thanks czar.
Also Czar is the first person i know to not be a mainstream celebrity, or developer that made it into a video game. I hope and know you are very proud czar. The first person in the history of video game. some athletes and rookies cant even get in the game lol
Congrats

Oh quick note for all the serious hoop heads in here. I am going to make some of these very basic as I am hearing from a lot of people outside os who watch these that are new to 2k or new to the sport so there may be more basic stuff coming that you are already very familiar with. Just hang with me as I try to get the rest of the audience up to speed.
the more basketball literate we ( all of us) make the casual gamers that is one less excuse companies can use against adding more strategy to hoop games. Really glad you guys enjoyed this one.

It would be nice if having a low awareness caused a player to occasionally "forget" his assignment.
If I assign a player with low awareness to guard Ray Allen and set off ball to "Deny Ball" I would like to see that defender occasionally not actually do that if his awareness is low enough.
Or if their "hustle" rating is low they may be a bit lackadaisical once in a while in fighting through screens or leave the shooter open in another way.

Nice stuff! I like seeing those small tweaks since i last played. Also happy to hear that defensive ratings matter this year too. It looks all in all like a real basketball game, not a video game.

Preferred Matchups for the win.
I sure hope those don't work like the "Defensive Matchups" last year. In 2K10, if you assigned Kobe (SG) to guard Rondo, expect the bench SG's who will be put in the game to be guarding the opponent's other PG's as well. It was position-based not player-specific.
Czar, can you confirm that Preferred Matchups is player-specific?
