It seems like I have a breakaway or have strung some passes together to create a good look and the CPU figures out how to stop me at the last. Not through warping or cheating, but through great defensive rotation or the keeper making a great save because he got into postion properly. I have to engage my mind to be successful on this game, I like that. Last year in this game, just like Fifa, you learned how to read the CPU team tendency and memorized an attacking strategy that was successful, more often than not. This game seems more of a chess match. Very organic, IMO.
The way the defense reacts differently according o the team you are playing with, or the player you are controlling is simply awesome. This game is going to be my addiction this year

Adriano used to be the PES God. WAY overrated, and almost impossible to take the ball from.

Has anyone had a foul called and the ref allow the play to continue? I have had some decent scoring chances messed up be cheap fouls and the ref stopping play. That would be about my only real complaint so far. The other is that I don't believe Ibrahamovic or Messi would be working that hard to get back on "D" and chase my guys to steal the ball, at least not as often as they do in the game.k

Absolutely love the new passing, love that I can't blame anyone but myself for a bad pass. The strategies seem to have more impact on the game than last year as well.

top player the past 2 years haven't been challenging enough.....it was far easier than the old PES5/6s were....How is top player level this year? is it more challenging? i'm glad the game has gotten great reviews for its gameplay, but if i'm able to consistently whip manchester united 3-1 using the likes of birmingham, renders everything useless.

hopefully, top player will be realistic AND challenging.....i've heard from some sites that a 6th difficukty level will be included in the final version...anyone hear anything regarding this?

thanks

Started having some stability issues with the 30 team mod. It would crash a little over halfway the last few matches. Found this new .exe that doesn't make you type in the teams, etc. Haven't crashed since. Gonna try the demo expander and see if everything stays stable. Also saw that there is going to be another mod next week with more/different teams. Still loving this game! Brian

Here's the link to the new .exe: http://www.pes-patch.com/category/pes-2011-demo-patches It's halfway down, the Stelios and Panos one.

Has anyone fooled around with linking moves yet?

I tinkered with it yesterday and it could be a great feature. If you can set these for the CPU players it could create some incredibly realistic option files.

I'm playing with that patch too...it's amazing!

The one area this game pales in comparison to FIFA is the penalties IMO. It might be using the stick, but I find it very unforgiving in terms of placement.

Is the system any different than PES 2010? I haven't gotten a penalty yet in the demo.

Yeah it seems real sensitive. I think i am going to try to hold the stick in the direction only for a brief moment, because it does say something in the control section about how long you hold the stick. Maybe an actual game play menu will help clear this up.

Check out this nice move I did against Portugal: Between C. Ronaldo's legs haha.

been playing more with the 30 team patch and loving this game more each time I play. Laying off the sprint and squaring up to shoot with some space will result in a nice shot on goal.

Also love that you can't just run end to end and expect to get a good chance on goal. Working the passing game and breaking down the defense is a must. Played a hard fought game vs ACM and I was Real Madrid. ACM beat me 1-0 on a penalty when I accidentally tackled one of their guys in the box on a mad scramble for a loose ball off a free kick.

^Nice story! Every game a new thing happens to me, be it a tactical change made by the CPU, having to adapt my game plan according to my opponent, or setting different player roles...awesome game, and it's a demo!

Also, I have to say, that for some reason I enjoy very much playing with Ronaldinho in ACM, even though he's not the player he used to be 3/4 years ago. Simply, his football IQ is great and I rely on his awesome passing vision with through and lofted balls.

That is how he is playing now a days, he is fun to watch, never got enough credit for knowing how to play.

You guys are playing on PC? I'll be on PS3.

This is an exceptional year for all the sports I love.

I'll be on ps3 as well but I'll most likely buy the pc version also again this year for the excellent mods available.

For the clubs and leagues that aren't licensed...Do they get modded in each year??(for PC)

yes. Most are done for the major European leagues, but if your interest is elsewhere you really gotta search around and hope someone comes through with an option file.

Yeah, stupid ol' Qb wasn't setting the control type to "custom", so I only saw the face buttons displayed...

They moved the strategy button from L1 to back/select, so L1 is now player switch (as it is in FIFA). I was able to set up the shoulders buttons how I wanted them -- L2/jockey, L1/1-2 & chipped through, R2/sprint. The only difference is R1 is for manual passes, not finesse shots. Much easier for me now.

Anyone else on the fence about the new angled camera? I think it looks gorgeous, but I'm not high on its functionality. I feel like I can't see enough of the field, especially ahead of the ball on the bottom half of the screen. Nevertheless, I'm sure I'll get more comfortable with it in time.
