NCAA Football 11 News Post

The NCAA Football 11 patch #3 is available now for the PS3. Will update this post when it is available for the 360.

*UPDATE: The Live Tuning Pack 3 has released for PS3, will update when it is available for the 360.

Here are the details, for those of you that don't know what is included.

Quote:
Title Update 3 (TU3)

* The pump fake exploit was resolved. The entire defense will no longer rush the QB after a pump fake.
* Resolved an issue with setting SS/ FS to QB Spy and then blitzing, virtually unblocked.
* Increased the Overall rating for incoming freshman. This resulted in one and two star freshman coming in at a higher overall rating.
* In Season Progression is back! Players once again have the ability to get a slight boost to their ratings during the season.
* There was an issue with Hawaii's home schedule causing conflicts with particular teams. This has been resolved. In particular, teams in the Pac 10 and the WAC will now have the correct number of conference games.
* Resolved an issue with the Rush Defense slider where they were only impacting defensive line special moves. They have been adjusted to also impact win/loss chances for blocking.

Live Tuning Pack 3 (LTP3)

* Kick Power/Kick Accuracy progression for Kickers and Punters was adjusted to be in line with the new incoming freshmen. Kickers and punters will now progress in line with other players, but will start with a higher average overall due to the improved recruit ratings in the patch.
* Increased Awareness progression for all positions.
* Increased progression slightly for Elusiveness, Spin Move, and Juke Move for Wide Receivers.
* Increased progression of the Tackle rating for Corner Backs to be in line with WR skill ratings (Juke, Spin, and Elusiveness).
* Reduced the frequency of defenders successfully jumping the snap. Also adjusted how frequently they would jump early when the offense performed a fake snap.
* Tuned Man Coverage so defenders will not jump in front of routes so early. They will still jump the route, but not as early, or frequently, as before.
* Adjusted in season progression to be in line with higher rated incoming freshmen.
* Tuned Incoming freshman to better match the spread on the default rosters.
* Tuned team prestige progression to be in line with the changes to incoming freshmen.

ooh.
I'd like to that I'm a decently smart play caller and I call for it in the right situation. Since the game has came out, I haven't ran a successful read option play... maybe it's just me or something

I really have to suck on purpose to have a bad YPC average, even on QB designed runs. Lewis from Pitt averages 5-6 yards a carry for me, most of these runs bounced out to the outside.

Something I've been able to do in NCAA 11 compared to any other football game I've played is to call a draw, try the middle, read the blitz/blocker, and bounce it out. Such a great feeling

Man coverage seems to work alright with regards to corners matched up on WRs, but in terms of LBs and safeties guarding backs and TEs, it seems awful to me. I get that I shouldn't be able to consistently cover a slot receiver with my LB, but there has to be a better middle ground here. As it is, pretty much all that you have to do is use a spread formation and then throw to a slot receiver or TE who is being guarded by a weak CB or a LB/Safety. Thus the complete dominance of 5 wide.

But really the bigger problem here is that zones are just bad. You essentially HAVE to use the MLB because otherwise he is completely useless and won't make any plays on passes thrown to his area, but other players (deep safeties in particular) also do a poor job. Zones are terrible over the middle from short to deep.
That's somewhat realistic in that you want to iso your favorable matchups but LBs need to be more physical in coverage at the line. Not saying they need to play tight press coverage but they need to at least bump the WRs/TEs to try to get them off their route. Way too many clean releases for TEs in this game.

There are still some interesting "money plays", at least against Alabama and other teams. Hopefully the coverage fixes at least help. I got all the way to the title game against them, put up 4 wide with two going deep, two doing crossing routes.

The left slot receiver was always open across the middle for a good 30 yard gain or so.

If that is the case, then i'm glad they did, because the game is GREAT now.

It's clearly busted. I've ran it about 10 times total and every time It's busted up for a loss.
Works fine for me

The read option out of spread flex works great because the running back runs up the gut as oppose to off tackle so if the DE stays home and you give you waste no time getting up field, not to mention if the DE crashes big yard for the QB.

This is true. I wonder why there aren't more like this in other formations.

Yeah, I think that draws have been excellent in NCAA '11. They don't work every time, but I've converted a number of long 3rd and longs with the draw. I also love that they give you an achievement/trophy for getting a TD on a draw that is 3rd and longer than 6. I busted a 50yard TD on a 3rd and 8 which I was planning to just churn some more clock with and I was happy to get an extra reward.

Pretty cool.

I've had effective an identical experience with zone coverage. You can freeze it down to replays and watch the coverage break down. Defenders are either slaves to their zone or when they do finally make a play on a guy who is in their zone and open, when the ball is about to get there they do something completely ridiculous. I've seen defenders break off coverage on a thrown ball because the player is now out of their zone, and it's a wide open play. I find more effective zone coverage to call a QB spy and control the LB and just try to shade any players that come around the middle of the field.

I think EA should have EA Canada do the NCAA (and maybe even Madden) franchise. Hell, just get rid of Tiburon all together. They already had some laid off, just lay them all off or send them to get schooled by EA Canada.

Or take MSU All-American LB Greg Jones for instance. He's an absolute beast in this game and will likely set MSU's career record for tackles in real life. He was a 3 star recruit and his best offers were from MSU and Minnesota. Rivals had him as the #34 LB in the nation in his class. Now he's arguably one of the two or three best LBs in the country. He was first team All-American as a junior and the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year. This certainly shouldn't be the norm, but there needs to be some rare diamonds in the rough.
Yeah this works at a position like FB. But all the 3 star prospects that ive seen at more important positions are low 60s and 50s. Lower level teams have a lot of 2 stars rated higher than the 3 stars they sign.

But I will vouch for your FB deal tho. I saw a 1 star fullback rated 60 OVR. You arent going to see any QBs, RBs, WRs, or any other big position like that.

Why? This is the best NCAA ever! People need to quit whining!
