NCAA Football 11 News Post


The NCAA Football 11 patch #3 is available now for the PS3. Will update this post when it is available for the 360.

*UPDATE: The Live Tuning Pack 3 has released for PS3, will update when it is available for the 360.

Here are the details, for those of you that don't know what is included.

Title Update 3 (TU3)

* The pump fake exploit was resolved. The entire defense will no longer rush the QB after a pump fake.
* Resolved an issue with setting SS/ FS to QB Spy and then blitzing, virtually unblocked.
* Increased the Overall rating for incoming freshman. This resulted in one and two star freshman coming in at a higher overall rating.
* In Season Progression is back! Players once again have the ability to get a slight boost to their ratings during the season.
* There was an issue with Hawaii's home schedule causing conflicts with particular teams. This has been resolved. In particular, teams in the Pac 10 and the WAC will now have the correct number of conference games.
* Resolved an issue with the Rush Defense slider where they were only impacting defensive line special moves. They have been adjusted to also impact win/loss chances for blocking.

Live Tuning Pack 3 (LTP3)

* Kick Power/Kick Accuracy progression for Kickers and Punters was adjusted to be in line with the new incoming freshmen. Kickers and punters will now progress in line with other players, but will start with a higher average overall due to the improved recruit ratings in the patch.
* Increased Awareness progression for all positions.
* Increased progression slightly for Elusiveness, Spin Move, and Juke Move for Wide Receivers.
* Increased progression of the Tackle rating for Corner Backs to be in line with WR skill ratings (Juke, Spin, and Elusiveness).
* Reduced the frequency of defenders successfully jumping the snap. Also adjusted how frequently they would jump early when the offense performed a fake snap.
* Tuned Man Coverage so defenders will not jump in front of routes so early. They will still jump the route, but not as early, or frequently, as before.
* Adjusted in season progression to be in line with higher rated incoming freshmen.
* Tuned Incoming freshman to better match the spread on the default rosters.
* Tuned team prestige progression to be in line with the changes to incoming freshmen.

I'm sorry that these progression issues have resulted in the game becoming broken for some of you. I'm honestly not trying to tell anyone how to play the game, I just think people need to at least try playing games, and perhaps wait a few days until Patch 3/Tuner Set 3 hits the 360 before rushing to judegment- for all we know this may be an issue isolated to the PS3 right now for some reason.

Again- let's get a separate thread going to talk about this and keep impressions ONLY on the patch in this thread.
Ok, I understand where you're coming from. It would be easier to read and more organized, since progression has kinda taken over this thread.

It's not a BIG deal to YOU man, but to some of us its a HUGE thing. Nobody is asking to have A+ across the board. Im also sick of hearing that, Were asking for it to work as intended. Does it make sense to you that You can make a Team go from 1* to 6* prestige and have the team actually get worse..no sense of "Growth".

I dont mind the players coming in low 60's/high 60's , usually freshmen dont play. But Progression after a red-shirt and things like that actually have to work to balance that effect. Im using Syracuse, there's no way for me to recruit players to keep the talent level on the team around the same. That doesnt make sense to me, Syracuse doesnt have ALOT of talent to begin with, so I improve my prestige and my talent level gets worse? Really?

This is how I like my game, How it's actually supposed to be intended. Don't hate on it.

The game is fine your team is probably getting worst because of your recruiting skills. Those diamond in the rough 3 star recruits still perform on the field. Everyone wont be a 90 overall. Play the game you guys and stop worrying about NUMBERS!

I know what you mean man. Until all the original players leave which is way down the road (5 seasons) if you have a bad team/older team its pretty hard. In my dynasty (link in sig) Boise State was in the top three for two years and went from a 5* to 6* after year one but has fallen off the cliff because they have no original players left in year 3+. They have some really good recruits but I'm guessing they are not winning because of their awr/ovr compared to all the redshirt senior original players left on other teams rosters.

I'm week 6 into the first year of my Boise State dynasty. It looks like 90% of my recruiting class are going to 4 stars and the rest 3 stars. Should I wait for patch #3 and restart my dynasty or should I continue on knowing that next year's recruits will be more highly rated?

I'm at a crossroads here.

The problem is without those NUMBERS simulation DOES NOT WORK. It may be just fine in gameplay but if I just wanted to do gameplay I wouldn't play dynasty and just be playing play now or online.

I agree I have been waiting for the cpu to be able to be able to run the option and last night air force ran it and ran it well. To me by fixing the cpu run game the game fills more fun because I don't know what cpu is gonna do next cause I cant always stop option rus for -2 yards. the only thing I'm mixed on is I like how zone d is more effective but they loosened up man coverage a little to much maybe lower qb acc and higher pass def slider will help. anyway I'm glad to get the patch

From what I have seen so far, the people who are able to play off man coverage and/or press coverage, are doing it. Those who cannot, are getting beat..which is how it should be.

Do you think they havent put out the patch for xbox 360 because they wanted to see what people said about it on ps3 and make it better for xbox?

if that is the case, i anticipate new patches for both systems. i don't think 360 will get a "better" patch than ps3. hell, i don't even think 360 will get a patch at all!

They are probably looking at the backlash on the ps3 patch and are deciding to put the patch back into the over because it is not even close to being ready then they will release it in 3 months and re-release it for ps3.

I just wish they would fix the read option.

It's clearly busted. I've ran it about 10 times total and every time It's busted up for a loss.

Let the conspiracy theories begin. Actually, I think somebody dropped the ball, but we'll never find out the real story. Doesn't matter though, it will come when it comes. Nothing we can do about it.

It pretty sad though, it looks like week 2 of college games will be in the books before I can even start to re-test sliders and then start a dynasty.

Next year, just wait until October when you can find the game at a discount. It will save alot of frustration.

Except for when people can put backs and tight ends out on simple routes that really ought to be fairly easy to cover, and then defenders flat run the wrong direction for no apparent reason.

Man coverage seems to work alright with regards to corners matched up on WRs, but in terms of LBs and safeties guarding backs and TEs, it seems awful to me. I get that I shouldn't be able to consistently cover a slot receiver with my LB, but there has to be a better middle ground here. As it is, pretty much all that you have to do is use a spread formation and then throw to a slot receiver or TE who is being guarded by a weak CB or a LB/Safety. Thus the complete dominance of 5 wide.

But really the bigger problem here is that zones are just bad. You essentially HAVE to use the MLB because otherwise he is completely useless and won't make any plays on passes thrown to his area, but other players (deep safeties in particular) also do a poor job. Zones are terrible over the middle from short to deep.
