NBA 2K11 News Post

IGN has just posted their NBA 2K11 preview, as well as some new screenshots.

Quote:
"Physical play (bodies jostling in the post or when a player drives to the lane) is getting an overhaul this year as well. If you played last year's FIFA game from EA Sports, you'll know what to expect from NBA 2K11. In other words, you're always able to have a sense of control even if your player is bumping into someone else on the court. No matter the collision, the goal of the development team is to ensure that players always feel like they're in control of their player's weight and momentum. I didn't get a chance to get a feel for the feature yet, but I'll be sure to dive a bit deeper the next time I get my hands on the game.

In case you haven't figured it out by now, there are a lot of gameplay changes in NBA 2K11. Far too many to be dished out in a single preview. Rest assured, if you were someone who hated the feeling of being out of control in last year's game, you shouldn't have that problem with NBA 2K11. From spin moves that branch into one-armed pump fakes to those that end in jump shots to dribble animations that can branch into any number of moves, 2K11 seems to have really nailed the look and feel of the NBA with the gameplay revisions."

I read in the Live forums that Off Ball Control in Live 10 are exploitable in that you can score everytime down court. Is this true?

Dual player Control in 2k10 is not Off Ball Control in Live 10. The latter is much better control system. If you become good at the control. you dominate the game.

That's why I said adding live 10' control system is gonna kill or might be killing the gameplay, cause 2k have poor defense logic, especially for paint zone.

If you want to understand me, just try Live 10. You will understand why last year Mike Wang showed up in a video where he was kind of proud of explaining this special control.
Total Control Passing and Off Ball control are two different things though lol.....If were talking about Off Ball Controls they are in BOTH games; they perform the same function. In 2k10 its a little more cumbersome (IMO) to access, but its definitely in there.

Actually they both had their advantages and disadvantages...though Lives is alot more fluid. Thing about Lives is... its smooth and all, but you can get a wide open jumpshot 90% of the time ....The only thing that saves it from being abused in that way is Lives shooting logic...where youll just miss shots no matter what the situation is.

It can also be used as a paint exploit if your good enough at it...If someone is, all you can hope for is to suck the cutter in that contact animation. All we can hope for is that.....having dabbled in both games, Wang can come uo with a system that works and is least exploitable as possible...

That's the risk with too much control. You control too much aspects of the game, and at the end it might turn into "cheating" on the AI. 2K10 had an off-ball control, but I admit I hardly ever used it. What I used mainly was the Icon-Lead-Pass, which is one of the best feautres 2K ever implemented in their games. Was it cheesing? Maybe, but the fact is that you didn't have as much control over the Icon-Lead-Pass, I mean it's not like you could really move players to anywehre you wanted, it was limited.

The Euro Step is still what worries me since I don't remember it done in the NBA that much, but 2K11 might turn into a Euro-Step fest, and that's awful!!! Not only that it's not that common in the NBA, it's not even as powerful as video games might make it.
As I said, I really hope there's a slider for this step, I don't want seeing the CPU doing it every second posession. I also hope it's not as effective as cheesers would want. Think of the hop-step in Live 2004 compared to Live 2005. I want it to be like 2005's hop-step. In other words, not 100% successful and causing you TO's if done by the wrong guys, or at the wrong time.

I doubt the Euro-Step is that powerful. The only thing that might be is if they incorporate the fake passes into ball fakes while attacking. You'd probably see people online during the majority of there drives try to do some sort of ball fake.

2k really has to step up the defensive AI..because with these new controls, it means the difference between really good, or really bad.
