NBA 2K11 News Post

IGN has just posted their NBA 2K11 preview, as well as some new screenshots.

Quote:
"Physical play (bodies jostling in the post or when a player drives to the lane) is getting an overhaul this year as well. If you played last year's FIFA game from EA Sports, you'll know what to expect from NBA 2K11. In other words, you're always able to have a sense of control even if your player is bumping into someone else on the court. No matter the collision, the goal of the development team is to ensure that players always feel like they're in control of their player's weight and momentum. I didn't get a chance to get a feel for the feature yet, but I'll be sure to dive a bit deeper the next time I get my hands on the game.

In case you haven't figured it out by now, there are a lot of gameplay changes in NBA 2K11. Far too many to be dished out in a single preview. Rest assured, if you were someone who hated the feeling of being out of control in last year's game, you shouldn't have that problem with NBA 2K11. From spin moves that branch into one-armed pump fakes to those that end in jump shots to dribble animations that can branch into any number of moves, 2K11 seems to have really nailed the look and feel of the NBA with the gameplay revisions."

I can't wait to get the game.
Is there anything about improving Defense?

Say what you want about the graphics, but the player faces look MUCH better even in this early build. They seem to have refined the hard edges on joints as well.

These are easily the best early screen shots that 2K has released this gen.

They've essentially added everything that was great about Live last year which 2K was missing. If they've made improvements to defense under the basket I'll be in hoop heaven.

Maybe you are not good at OBC. Even in Live, you can get over 60 points in the paint using OBC. Now, how about 2k's case their horrible paint zone defense? I'm not saying that control kills Live 10, but saying it's gonna kill 2k without overhauling their defense logic.

And actually when 2k had OBC like Live 10? 2k7? 2k8 2k9? 2k10? No. Maybe 2k5 or 2k6? I'm not sure, too old to remember.

A Cavs fan that cares about the Heat? I'm impressed

I know plenty about the game. But we're talking about video game controls. Not real basketball. If that was the answer I'd go to a playground.

in the Heat starting pic why is Joel Anthony starting instead of Big Z?

They have it right in the LeBron pic that was released weeks ago

enjoyed what I read. Not the biggest NBA fan, but after playing 2k10 at a friends house on several occasions, and the fact that Jordan is in this year's game, I am picking this game up. Actually, since it releases on my birthday, I'm getting it for as a present.

OBC was in 2k10.

One thing that I like about the physics-based aspects of NBA 2k11 is that there will be no more online players who can play off the animations all game long.

I just got dominated twice by two different guys who were able to blow me out and not allow me to score in the 2 quarter. I have never been shut out in any quarter before today, but it looks like some people have perfected it.

That is really frustrating and it is not as realistic as I would have hoped for this year. I'm fed up with playing NBA 2k10 online this year and it's about to get a trade.

The NBA 2k11 team should be able to clear up a lot of problems with this series this year.

Actually what you're seeing is K-Mart's left thumb.

It does look cut off in the smaller picture but at the full size and you'll see it.

No. I think some of you guys don't know what OBC is. Try Live 10 to use OBC which Mike Wang was kind of proud of last year. It's not semi or quick offense setting.

What is OBC then? If you're talking about switching to another player off of the ball you can do that in 2K10.

I'm assuming off-ball control Momentous, only thing that makes sense in my mind.

Lol, I know that.

He said that he doesn't think that we know what it is so I'm asking him what it is (to him).

Me fail...

Had to read back to see what the guy is talking about. Maybe his left bumper or L1 button was broken and he no idea it was in the game. Off ball play could have been better but it was there, AI logic hindered it in my opinion.

# 139 rangerrick012 @ 08/01/10 12:37 AM
Yes Off Ball Control is in 2K10.

# 140 parkinson @ 08/01/10 12:18 PM
IGN review said, "Total Control Passing, a feature that made its debut in NBA Live 10, is being brought to NBA 2K11. blah blah..."

Dual player Control in 2k10 is not Off Ball Control in Live 10. The latter is much better control system. If you become good at the control. you dominate the game.

That's why I said adding live 10' control system is gonna kill or might be killing the gameplay, cause 2k have poor defense logic, especially for paint zone.

If you want to understand me, just try Live 10. You will understand why last year Mike Wang showed up in a video where he was kind of proud of explaining this special control.
