NCAA Football 11 News Post

Chris Gunter will be doing the E3 impressions and answering questions for OS on this front. He had some good conversations with Russ Kiniry from the NCAA team today, and will be able to speak more in-depth with the team in the next two days. Here is what he found out today:

-CPU Recruiting has been tweaked and updated. Not completely sure if they will specifically draft to their team strategy as I didn't get too involved in dynasty yet, but I was told that it will not be possible for a 1-2 star school to just sign everyone like it was in years part.

-No conference realignments this year, as it wil not be hapenning until next year. They will look into this as a possibility for 12.

-No changes to the camera options. Still has the reverse lock cam on defense.

-The window of time for the hand off on the option has been slightly widened due to the reanimating of the hand off.

-Speaking of the option, the CPU seems to run it much better. Played some extended time with Navy versus Army, and the Army QB was pretty good about when to pitch, when to keep, and turning the ball up field.

-The CPU will cut the ball upfield on a much more consistent basis with the running backs. Gone are the days last year of the a CPU RB cutting the ball outside and losing his blockers. From what I have seen, it seems like the CPU run game will be something to keep qqqq

-No major updates to Road To Glory outside of the gameplay changes already known.

-The Speed Bust is now an option to turn on or off. You can change this from the menu system.

-Line play is still up for judgment. I saw some very good things, and a couple of iffy things. The offensive line seems to pick up blitzed well, but I did see some missed assignments on sweeps and such.

The playbook now allows you to scroll up and down between formations while looking at the list of available defensive formations.

That's it for now. Please leave any new questions, or something you may have not gotten answered, as I will be seeing more NCAA tomorrow.

1. Are Pro-Tak and sideline catches different than in the demo? If so how? More frequent?
2. What's with the sliding and lack of foot planting?

Closing this thread to get questions and answers together. I don't have answers for everything (we could only do so much on the floor), but I will answer what I can.

Yes, you can. Matter of fact, with the online dynasty interface on the website, there is no real need to do an offline dynasty anymore.

No accelerated clock this year.

Have any more cut scenes been added for the intro? Seems like the same thing over and over in the demo with the exception of one team touching a rock and another linking arms.
There are about 30 or so "Specific" team entrances for the most popular teams. Outside of that, you get a couple random generic entrances.

Its the same problem we have seen for years, when the ball is on a hash the defensive secondary has a tendency to cover spots on the field that are not based on the actual positions of the WRs. The hook zones are borked on this demo. I have had mutiple instances of throwing deep pases against the AI in which the deep cover man in zone is clueless on the football field as to where his man is. The new locomotion system is benefical and more realistic, but has changed the reaction time and cutting ability of cpu controlled AI DBs in a negative fashion. Unreal reaction times prevented big plays from happening in the secondary, now they are ubiquitous. 10 was more balanced in the defense/offense offsetting one another, I hope this demo is an early build because the gameplay reminds me of 09's scorefest. This demo has huge issues with streak routes, and honsetly pass defense as a whole is broken as is.
I will answer this to the best of my ability:

Zones are better than in the demo, but still not 100%. I still notice linebackers in zones with a man right in front of them allowing the guy to stand open. That being said, this can be fixed with the gameplan, and I noticed more of an effect on the defense when changing it.

I'm still not happy with DB/WR play, but good WR's do tend to beat DB's more from what I could tell, which is better than last year. The WR/DB play doesn't have the polish that Madden does this year, but it is better than 10.

I know for one I don't want to see all the linemen making every block.
And they don't make every block. Before each play you can see the assigments each lineman has, it even changes as defenses move around. But I did see lineman miss blocks at times.

Not huge things but just curious ....

It SEEMS like psychic defense is gone. I ran multiple 3-4 wide draws on 3rd down, and the defense spread out with me.

To answer the presentation questions:

There are some more stat overlays, just not a ton. The biggest upgrades are the presence of ESPN banners/end of quarter images.

I didn't get a chance to see any of the dynasty presentation upgrades such as halftime shows, etc.

Personally didn't see any while I was playing. But I did see one interception warp on a ball that technically should have been intercepted anyway, but the DB got turned around in a single spot.

Is the pass rush at all different than what we've seen in the demo?

# 116 flustercuck @ 06/19/10 04:58 PM
Did you get any games in against CPU? What were the avg scores in your games? vs CPU and vs another user.

Also, I know your time was very limited but did you find any money plays?

I noticed time in the pocket was reduced. Still felt a little long at times (without looking directly at the ratings of the teams I was using I can't attribute that to gameplay or team usage) but it was less time to throw then in 10.

No full games, unfortunately. But I did play halves vs CPU and vs another player. I noticed CPU's having extended drives due to an effective rush attack, which is a good sign.

Is cpu v cpu still in the game? It was missing from the demo but if my memory serves me right it was last year too.

Plus if you got chance, during dynasty are we still able to select any game to play/watch?

Thanks.

That is a very good sign. Good to hear. Thx!

One more question...Can you guesstimate a % of scoring drives you had vs the CPU?
