MLB 10 News Post

Notes:

-All players (my players) are completed.....updated with faces....updated ratings...numbers. I randomized stances and in the instances I knew an actual stance...I added it.
-I did not get a chance to put Struts NEW stances he sent me yet. (the set contains his original updated stances)
-I did the most common lineups for the MLB teams from Baseball Reference. In some cases I just used "common sense" (what little I have left)
-I let the CPU dictate the minor league lineups/rotations
-I did not use the "extra" A rated player. It is Grant Desme of the Oakland A's and heard the higher calling and left the game. It is him on the FA list....so you're choice....give him his name...and put him back on Oakland....or make him the player of your choice
-I tried to get in as many requests as possible
-The Futures game starters look great for the most part...but for whatever reason...there are still some USA players being put on the World team. I cannot figure it out.
-I tried and succeeded for the most part in getting the AAA teams perfect
-Some of the early AL teams might have changed since I did them....heck...even some of the NL teams might be like that...there is a lot of minor league movement.

Of course....this would have been impossible this year without Ridin'...and KSig who really set the table and came through big time with this set this year.

Also thanks to Strut.....Mr Franchise....Razr....JaSnake...and the countless others who supplied us with info, which is invaluable to a project like this. As it is....it can be overwhelming at times.....having resources to pluck from is a GREAT help.

He will upload the file when he uploads it. Asking about an ETA isn't necessary

Yeah, I'm really loving the pitch edits too. The game plays like it was meant for these edits all along. I'm finally getting realistic box scores and balance without touching the sliders.

I'm still not entirely sold on starter stamina, but reliever stamina is perfect. After V4 comes out, I might change the starter stamina on my own. But I really love the pitch edits, they've completely changed the game for the better. Thanks again to all involved.

If you don't mind try the game out a bit with the slider tweaks that I posted on the previous page. I think you'll enjoy it.

Also as another alternative for the guys that do not like the stamina edits look at what bahnzo's ratings tool puts out and tell me if you prefer those. If you do when JaSnake edits I could just tell him to put out one version with the roster tools stamina edits for starters only in and another with Rod_Carew's stamina formulas.

If we make the slider tweaks, do we have to adjust it for simmed games like the injury frequency slider? Or are those sliders not accounted for?

And what exactly were the tweaks? Starter and Reliever stamina at 7, and manager hook at 3?

These are more for user vs cpu games.

Tweaks are these

USER
Pitch control 1
Consistency 7

CPU
Control 5
Consistency 3
Strike Frequency 0
Manager Hook 4

and
Starter Stamina 5
Reliever Stamina 0 for both user and cpu

I just did a game, Red Sox vs. Yankees, with the sliders and was able to knock out CC Sabathia after five innings, 4 walks, 6 ER. The problem was it was very easy to draw walks provided I didn't chase his slider, but I also know his slider like the back of my hand. By the end of the game I had drawn seven walks total.

I went six with Jon Lester, giving up 3 ER and a walk, which was fine but I consider myself a pretty good pitcher. The Yankees just have a jacked up offense. (No hypocrisy here!!)

Personally, I would like very much if JaSnake released a version with starter stamina edits, as currently the game plays perfectly for me on All-Star with default sliders except for the starters wearing down easily... really, it's amazing how realistic it is with the pitch edits. But that's really up to you guys. I'm very much looking forward to version 4 either way, as I'll finally be able to start my RTTS and franchise.

I got things to do, jeesh!! Besides, I truly am happy with default sliders anyway. That's my personal preference.

To be honest, he probably has, on default. Like I and others have. I LOVE the pitch edits, but I wasn't having issues with stamina in my game.

That being said, all I want to do is edit the stamina in the sliders to fix the editing issue. I don't need more walks or pitches thrown - I do that on my own by strategy when I'm at the dish.

Great news, Strut! Looking forward to it. I hope you used Jack Wilson for Marco Scutaro, that's the stance change I'm most passionate about. But I really like your work, should be fun to check out once it's done.

The only sliders you need to mess with for that are the starter stamina up (7-8 should do fine) and manager hook down (to compensate for CPU tendency to pull a pitcher too early after the edits) for the CPU. Make the same changes to stamina for the User if you are having trouble getting deep into games too.

I'm not using Knight's set, but I use a slight modification of Rod's formula for myself. This is what I have in terms of sliders (Just posting the ones relevant to the issue):

Starter Stamina (User): 6
Reliever Stamina (User): 3

Starter Stamina (CPU): 7
Reliever Stamina (CPU): 5 (default)
Manager Hook (CPU): 3

That's what works for me, but I also like the lowered stamina as a whole. It might give an idea at least of how to go about the changes at least.

If you are looking to get more towards default SCEA stamina, I'd probably go higher on the stamina all the way around (probably skip over 8 and go straight to 9 or 10).

I have noticed that these pitch edits have done a decent job inflating ERA in simmed games in comparison to V2. Here's my evidence:

As of right now, there are 25 major league pitchers with ERA's under 3. I have simmed 10 or so seasons up until this point with each v3 and v2, and with v3, I am lucky to ever get over 12 pitchers with an ERA under 3. With v2, I get around 25. Everytime. And this was with the slider adjustments for v3. I think the stamina issues are going to have a lot more influence in the long run of a season. I appreciate the work, but I am going back to v2.

Are you on CST?

To the person that asked about Harper, whenever Strut releases his roster, I'm going to add him to the roster, along with my Jason Heyward, Stephen Strasburg, and Aroldis Chapman.

Here is the link to my Harper thread.

Just to point out, there are currently 26 players with 8 or more starts that have ERAs sub-3. Will there be the same at the end of the season? Probably not, but it's possible. These pitch edits are not for everyone, as of course they make the game much more challenging. So, if they are not realistic/fun for you then use a set that does...simple as that .

I honestly don't think that I can thank you guys enough. Is there anyway I can help with player movements?
