MLB 2K10 News Post

2K Sports has just posted patch v1.2 notes for Major League Baseball 2K10.

Quote:
UPDATES
Lack of errors and injuries
For the patch we investigated all possible options for getting errors and injuries working properly but were not able to find a solution for the patch. There are limitations on what we can change in the game for the patches and this was too complicated and large of a change to implement. The proper fix for errors and injuries requires additional animations and we are unable to add animations into our game for a patch. Our team is currently working on implementing both errors and injuries into the game for the upcoming year.

Clarification to above point
To properly fix errors we require additional animations which can’t be added to the patch. To properly fix injuries was too complicated to implement in the patch.

PC Patch
To ensure the PC community can play online together we need to release the PC patch in coordination with all our digital distribution partners such as Steam and IGN. We are currently in the process of testing builds from all the partners to ensure that our PC community maintains full connectivity online. Once we are through this QA process we will coordinate the release of the PC Patch with all our digital distribution partners.

• When your season goal was to be the MVP the landing screen was showing your MVP score instead of MVP rank. It is now showing the MVP rank so it is clear.

Online
• Online divergence bug caused by split stats being enabled in online games.

CLASSIC!!!!!!

I am cursing EA's stinking exclusive licensing deals, 2K's MLB deal, and SCEA's exclusive console deal.

I believe kids are making this game. What a bunch of technology lacking people at 2K Sports. They need their exclusive baseball rights stripped immediately if not sooner! Geez!

Also don't see any mention of fixing pitchers walk ratings as they age.

Looks like I'm officially done with 2k baseball.
No doubt, can't really support a game where the franchise is only good for one year. I don't intend to support 2k baseball next year because the game is literraly not playable past year 1(hell, septemeber of year 1 causes issues) unless you get rid of all the drafted players(which IMO, takes fun out of the game). Really dissapointed they did not fix this, let alone errors and injuries(wasn't really suprised they weren't included though).

I'm done. I only played about 10 games before stopping to wait on a patch to fix the errors and injuries....and all the rest of the other crap. Selling game, going back to play 2K7 or just bucking down and getting a PS3 to try The Show.

Maybe it is time to try OOTP or a game like that.

Is the freezing in both the PS3 and XBOX or just one of these. I have the 360 and so far so good.

Still a good game, but franchise mode wont work after season 1 because of the freezing unfortunately. It will be good for MLB today and MyPlayer I guess. But franchise mode...hopefully next year.

I say cancel mlb 2k11 and instead create college hoops 2k11, unless they're not allowed. Seems unfair though if EA has the license on ncaa basketball but doesn't even make a game.

It's unfortunate that I spend $60 a year on a game I only play for a couple weeks, yet I picked up college hoops 2k8 (for ps2) for $20 and have played it going on 3 years. It was also the first game I bought for ps3 a couple months ago (10 bucks) and love now more than ever.

Seriously I'd rather see them make a high school game than put out another MLB game.

Wow, 2k Sports sucks bad. I waited over a month to find out they never had any intention of addressing errors and injuries, and why? Because they never built the animations in the game TO BEGIN WITH!!! What in the freak were they thinking? Two major factors in baseball and they left out them out. "We'll add them next year." Sorry, dufuses, you had your chance. You stole my money and you're never getting another dime from me.

# 29 Smallberries @ 05/21/10 01:04 AM
Back in March, when 2k was making all kinds of promises to address these big issues, I could have traded this game in for over $40 at GameStop. Now I'll be lucky to get $20. I can't wait until their MLB exclusivity deal is over.

These guys should be embarrassed about the effort on this game. I know if I did this poorly at my job, I would be truly and deeply ashamed. But then, that might be because I have the burden of actually caring about doing a good job.

HAHAHAHA all I can do is laugh at this. I am incredibly pissed off but wow this is funny! To not have errors or injuries when the game ships is beyond belief. I was calm about this problem because I figured this would have been the easiest thing to fix. Boy was I wrong. This is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard! When making the game how the hell do you not test it out enough to see if there are errors. How can this possibly be that difficult. I just can't even believe this. Errors are one of the most important events in a Baseball game. You would think if 2k got one thing right it would be ERRORS because they have made plenty of them the past few years. This would be comparable to an NHL or NBA game where a player would never lose the puck or ball. Imagine a game like that. I liked this game for the most part from the start so all of these fixes will be nice but jeez I just can't stop laughing at this.

Fully agree! I just can't believe they ship an untested game out. Where I come from you work hard regardless of the job you have. It's called pride, apparently they don't have any. I wanna know if these peoples jobs are decided by sales or if there is actually a head honcho who plays the game and realizes these people are stupid and fires them. I can't stop laughing at the injuries and errors part of the patch notes. Unreal!

I am so glad I did not buy this game when it came out. Before season started, I picked up MLB 2K9 and starting playing it again and have not put it down. I played the demo for 2k10 and I was just disgusted. The only thing I liked was the ability to protect the plate and foul off pitches.

No errors, injuries and game freezing when you play your rookies? are you fawken serious! This has got to stop you guys. We keep giving these guys our money and for what, for a game that is only going to collect dust?

I will never again buy a game especially a sports game when they 1st come out. I am tired of spending my money on an unfinished game that will just sit on my dresser collecting dust. NCAA FOOTBALL and MADDEN are the 2 games I look forward to , but will wait at least 2-3 weeks before I decide to buy them.

I probably will not buy another 2k sports game again.. and for now I will enjoy 2k9.

No errors or injuries IS ridiculous. But those should have ALWAYS been in the game. The fact they weren't there at release was idiotic and the fact they weren't patched is idiotic. I never play more than one year of franchise so all the franchise problems don't affect me as much. I was really hoping they would fix the fatigue for players who pinch hit and DH since it's terrible but there are some decent fixes for me.

-Player of the Game fixed
-Pause screen will show the hand of the batter now instead of the number
-Show pitcher energy instead of stamina in pitcher screens
-Check swings (PS3 finally gets them)
-Composure not automatically fixed on mound visits
-fixed cpu pitcher fatigue and have the cpu not leave the pitcher in so long
-outfielders wouldn't go into lazy throw animation on close play scenarios
-made it easier to steal
-tuned AI's decision making when throwing to cutoff and home
-toned down arm strength for fielders
-changed fielder speed to 20 as the default
-catcher will now make tags on all close plays
-made it harder for lower rated pitchers to paint corners

I agree. When I read in Ron's post about the team working to ensure that injuries and errors will be in for next years game, I LMAO!! How foolish does that sound?!?!? Having no injuries in any sports game and no errors in baseball is ridiculous.

I was hoping for the auto fielding/cpu fielder assist to be addressed, making it possible for the user to have total control of their fielder from the start of the ball being put in play, but I guess not.

Here's how 2K sports will market their game next year:

$60 for a Fathead poster and we'll throw in MLB2K11 free!

NOW we know why they were reluctant to release notes. They were hoping that the patch would drop by now, we'd all be pacified and then realize later what was missing! I believe this backlash is absolutely justified and 2K knows it.

Absolutely pathetic, man. NO ERRORS AND INJURIES. Can you hear SCEA's THE SHOW crew laughing at you guys? Aren't you embarrased?

WAKE UP 2KSPORTS! WAKE.....THE.....HECK.....UP!

I only paid $3 for the game, so I guess I can't be too upset. I like the game overall, though the exclusion of errors is pretty bad.

Can someone post the full list of patch notes from the link. Can't get to the link at work.

Thank goodness for RDR...

# 39 ckarlic @ 05/21/10 10:20 AM
Wow. Little to no errors and no injuries is just inexcusable. Should have been there from the get-go. Those are part of baseball and add to the strategy of the game.

From what I have seen from 2k in the last two years it would shock me if they did test there games. There sales dropped horribly this year because of the disgusting game they released last year and there is no evidence of them selling nearly as many copies next year. The we will do our best to add injuries and errors next year is a complete joke. I just hope they don't forget the baseball while there working so hard on errors and injuries.
