Madden NFL 11 News Post

For those that like to skip over the Madden NFL 11 press release, here is something worth noting.

Madden NFL 11 will redefine videogame football for both veteran and rookie players by providing a Simpler, Quicker and Deeper experience:
  • Simpler: Call plays like an NFL coach with ease using an all-new play-calling system, GameFlow, which executes an authentic, situational game plan for you.
  • Quicker: The new play-calling system will enable players to spend more time on the field and less in the playbook - completing games in half of the time.
  • Deeper: Madden NFL 11 is feature-rich, with improved animations and control options, enhanced online functionality, and new broadcast and audio presentation that delivers the NFL experience fans have come to expect.

"...enhanced online functionality"

I hope that relates to a better and more complete online franchise this year.

I we'll have to wait and see how these features turn out, but thing I can't stand is the sheer arrogance. "Redefine Football"? Really? You're going to do that?

Come on dude, thats the best part about him. He's like the complete opposite of Tom Hammond.

Come to think of it Gus' lines will probably flow really well. It seems as though when he's announcing he says everything individually: "Manning........ in the shotgun......takes the snap...."

And the pitch of his voice increases with every statement....

Two thoughts:

1. I don't have high hopes for any major changes to franchise mode. So long as they can tune it so glamour positions have somewhat believable stats I'll be reasonably happy. If they can't I promise to join the throngs throwing a nutty on this forum (I'm still pissed about how badly that final patch screwed up RBs).

2. I don't know what their PR speak regarding the playbook means. Defensively, I'd like to see EA split it so I decide what my D-line is doing, then my linebackers, and then my secondary. The canned plays are a relic of the 90s IMO.

How about marketing 101?

Sounds like a marketing line to me.

Really, I'd love if some how those things made it so we could finally create basically our own defenses on the fly. As the person above me said that instead of seeing the same thing over and over again you can get plays will be different on mostly every play. I could finally make my own scheme properly! I never had the patience to do the 3000 changes you would have to make in 10 to make your defense different. I would of done it but it's to rushed and annoying, hated getting caught in the middle of changing assignments.

I agree that is sounds like the same ol Ea catch phrase. I'm just not confident that we will see a true football sim this generation.

Why do some people on here keep assuming madden crew is not focusing on franchise mode. Just because they have not mention nothing about franchise mode doesn't mean they have not worked on it this year. Every part of the game has a department working on it. Josh Looman works on Franchise mode. It ain't like Looman just gets up and walk away to another departmnet and work on something else. I'm sure Josh and his small crew is doing their best to focus on both offline and online franchise mode. We have 4 months until madden is released. Plenty of time for blogs. Don't worry so much. But overall it is nice to see them doing alot for madden this year. Can't wait until the trailer tonight.

Im interested to see how the new play books work. For me I highly doubt making play calling easier will cut down on game time at all.

Any news on Create-Your-Own play book? I think if they really want people to open up the play books then let us pick the plays in it. After that they need to tune the plays to make sure all routes have a chance of working. There are a lot of plays that look good on the play call screen but if you have a few hours of madden knowledge you know there is no way that route is ever going to be open.

The press release is very vague on Game Flow, so I am going to be even more vague. I will say that I like the idea a lot. I used Game Flow with the Patriots and after getting sacked on 1st down, game flow called a draw play just like the Patriots would. After gaining 7 yards and facing a 3rd and 7, Game Flow called a screen Pass to Kevin Faulk like the real Patriots would. Authentic and situational. I'll ask if there is anything else I can say and hope I didn't say too much already.

LOL, agreed. Josh is still pimping out the Madden Ultimate Team, when that is over, we'll see more from him on the Madden side of things.

I just feel sometime people around here try to over react because all the news is focus on other parts of the game right now. When I know there is still plenty of time for them to give us info. I know Josh got the franchise mode department in hand. He did a great job on it last year. I'm a franchsie nut. I'm sure Josh Looman is going to do everything he can to give fans the deepest franchise mode possible for fans to enjoy this coming year. But I wish people would stop going overboard and just wait a blog on franchise mode later on. But overall worrying ain't going help any. So best thing for fans is to enjoy the current news we are getting and go on and enjoy the draft coverage with the madden crew here in a few hours.

Funny, a lot of these items comming out about Madden seem to have been taken from Backbreaker (analog controls, momentum, etc).

Funny what some competition can do! Too bad I have no interest until EA redoes the engine from scratch, as Madden is old tech now.

Because they haven't worked on it since they nerfed it back in 2006? And Superstar is beyond repair at this point...

Pointing out the fact that the word "franchise" isn't in the marketing right now isn't worrying, it's calling it like we see it, i.e., if they're not pimping franchise mode in their marketing text, then franchise ain't getting a lot of attention this year.

Notice that I didn't say franchise isn't getting ANY attention this year; just that if it isn't getting a lot of emphasis in the marketing plan, history shows it isn't getting a lot of emphasis period.

Their past performance hasn't earned my blind faith yet. If they have your blind faith, more power to you. But your faith is no more legitimate than other people's dubiousness, so live and let live.
Well I know how you feel. Since madden has come the next gen console. Franchsie mode has been quite poor. The last madden I played with a deep franchise mode was madden 07 ps2. When it had owner mode in it. But I feel madden 10 was a good starting point for Josh and his crew with offline franchise mode. In the blog from last year he point out to us and said don't expect for HC 09 suddenly fall into madden. Josh had to rebuild franchise mode in madden 10 from the ground on up. It is going to take a few years for him to really get madden offline franchise deep once again. It just take time my friend. People just need to give him time to get out a blog on what he has done for this year franchise both online and offline. I just see it is way to early to judge until we have gotten a blog on this. If it was july and still no mention of offline franchise then I would question it. But since it is still late april. I'm not jumping to conclusion But dude like I said before I love offline franchise just as much are more then anyone on here. But it is to early to scream foul play on this one and say EA doen't care about offline franchise mode. They are trying to focus on all aspects of madden this year. It just takes time for them to write up the blogs and put them out. If I could have been a CD person this year. One of my main focus would have been about offline franchise mode. But right now the only thing we can do is wait and see what happens.

Backbreaker has nothing to do with EA doing all this stuff with locomtion this year. I'm getting BB just like anyone else is in June. But I don't feel like EA had nothing to worry about. They was doing this to get caught up with the times. EA for the past few years has been trying eveything to make madden moves more real looking. But I just feel like you are saying BB had something to with EA redoing both NCAA and Madden with a new locomotion engine just to keep up with BB. I feel it was not the reason. But I do respect yours and everyone else opinion on that subject. But I do feel that BB is not the reason for EA doing all this for ncaa 11 and madden 11 this year. But bro before say no about getting ncaa are madden 11. Please try the demo.

I think this idea will be pretty cool if the AI is smart enough and each team will have their own unique style. The Brees interview sounded promising in regards to this, so hopefully the final implementation is solid.

Also hope it would tie into your team in franchise mode somehow in the event you change style based on personnel after a period of years.

Assuming the comment about franchise mode was towards me...

Like some one said, seeing is believing, I cannot believe iton faith...

Not to be harsh but only thing upgraded last year for franchise mkde was the presentation, I guess you can call that a step in the right direction but IMO, the The Tony Bruno Show was just as good as '10's effort...

Madden franxhise mode was taking steps in the right direction back in 07... Heh, It was in the right direction in 99...So people have a legit reason not to believe without facts...I think Carl Sagan would agree...

'Simpler: Call plays like an NFL coach with ease using an all-new play-calling system, GameFlow, which executes an authentic, situational game plan for you."

Isn't this what "Ask Madden" was supposed to be doing?
