Mike or Ridin got a question for you guys. With all the players that are in A-Ball, that means that we cant actually use them right because we can only play AA and AAA games?

Is anyone working on getting the AA and AAA rosters accurate?

All singles.
I'm having a similar problem in the majors with the Cards. I'm averaging 10-12 hits a game, but very few home runs. I had one game where all 14 of my hits were singles. Last year I led the league in HR's, this year I have 5 or 6 home runs in 9 games.

Doesnt there have to be room for improvement? The way the progression system is setup players gain attribute points each year. If you took a 19 gave him high power attributes, make him an a potential, then within a few years he would be jacking 70 a year. I might be wrong, but that's what I see when I edit rosters.

anyone have any info on Duanel Jones? 16 year old out of the Dominican, just signed with San Diego. I plan on adding him to my existing franchise, just wonder what type of player he is and what potential, can't find anything on him.

I have struggled with trying to come up with a ratings scale in this game relative to real ratings. Mike Stanton is a prime example as he has 80 raw power now. If his power is high and is contact is low which it should be doesnt that just mean his avg will be where it should be but his homer numbers should be up on balls he connects on? I have simmed a ton of seasons only to see Hank Blalock lead the minors in homers with 25 or so and all the top prospects be in the 8-18 range. I guess I just dont get it attribute speaking.
That is how the game should work. Either you have a good arm or you dont, same with fielding either you have great reaction time or you dont. Contact should progress, fielding, not reaction should progress. Power should progress but only slightly. SCEA should make certain attributes somewhat static.

Power numbers are usually what develops the most. Players have not developed into their bodies and have not learned to drive a ball. Look at players like Bay and numerous other guys that didn't thump the ball till later.

Austin Jackson hit like 4 hrs last year in the minors. They project him to hit 20-25 a year.

I managed to hit a triple and a double today! I hit the three bagger with Wendell Fairley and the Double with Brandon Crawford. Hmmmmm still not sold though.

Whats the consensus on the A ball players? We cant use them in exhibition games so I suppose that they are solely for Franchise mode? What is everyone doing with their A ball guys?

# 629 ThirdDegree5803 @ 04/14/10 05:37 PM
I've been doing the roster control thing to sim out a franchise like real-life and the A-ball has been amazing for filling out rosters for injuries and such - that or taking the extra A potential pitchers and hiding them there...

I know that this isn't best thread to ask this in( i'm interested in the whole powers ratings for prospects thing to I don't seem to have enough going out either) anybody know on average how much power progresses a year?

There is no one answer. There are alot of variables that can affect it in numerous ways. Type of potential the player has, training etc....

Just a little FYI...
A little tip that Heisman316 sent to me...and is VERY cool.
I'll use it to "fix" Josh Beckett in the v2 update.

If you have a player whose contract you want to change...without having to drop him and re-sign him to a team.....(thereby changing the teams payroll for that year with a penalty and a re-sign)......
THIS IS PRE-FRANCHISE....
Load the roster
Go to ROSTER CONTROL and drop the player you want to change to the FA list
Swap him right back...
His contract is now changed to a random amount of years(so for Beckett..instead of 1/1...it might be 1/3 or 1/4).....I'm not sure about the dollars...but it is either similar dollar amounts...or they are by his ratings...)
You can do this to try and slow down the trades...and also to try and give teams more "locked up" players without messing up their current payroll for 2010.
Nice find by Heisman316.
Any other players on the v1 OSFM....that have a 1/1 contract that have signed extensions...let me know and I'll change them for v2.
Thanks.

After playing a ton of minor league games last year, I decided that different slider sets are needed for major and minor league games.

Knight, what slider set would work best with these rosters for a player with average skills

Some players are put on the trading block halfway thru the season everytime it seems. In real life their contract is really expiring but I dont think they would be on the trading block for example.

Hideki Matsui (LAA)
Joe Maurer (MIN)
Jon Lester (BOS)
Edwin Jackson (ARI)

.....just to name a few.
