MLB 10 News Post

Here is our list of the current known issues that we're looking into for immediate attention:

Attendance:
Attendance is not correctly getting reported. In talking with Jeff, he has a fix in mind that is fairly safe but would end up in the actual attendance not mirroring the paid attendance you get in franchise. It would fix the issue where you have 50k+ people attending Spring Training games. This will also fix issues with playoff games and games played in any stadium that isn't your own.
* UPDATE - This was caused by the stadium select screen being added to franchise, causing the attendance to be reset using the non-franchise logic. The stadium select was previously never used for playoff games, so it didn't handle that situation. This is fixed and it also fixes the issue with spring training games showing the attendance as if they were in their home stadium.

Trade Waivers:
Users can claim anyone off of trade waivers - CPU teams will never pull them back.
* UPDATE - fixed this one - a simple fix that will prevent user teams from simply claiming everyone that was passed through trade waivers.

No Contract:
Players can get into a state where they have no contract.
* UPDATE - As soon as a player was placed on release waivers, his contract was cleared. Then if he was claimed, he didn't have a contract. It was also clearing his 40-man roster status, which is what was causing him to go to AAA instead of the MLB team. Have a fix for this.

Player Potential:
Looks like a fairly bad miscommunication ended up with us having some seriously out of whack potentials. This will be corrected with the next roster download (Monday)
* UPDATE - Lorne is taking care of this - will be fixed with a roster update.

Multi Closer issue:
If a CPU team has 2 closers (one acquired in a trade) - they will always send one down to AAA.
* UPDATE - It would just look at the closers and see that they had more than they needed so they'd send one down, but they wouldn't look to see if they could send down a reliever instead and keep the 2nd closer in the bullpen. Have a fix for this.

Multi Trade players:
Not even sure what the details are on this one, but it looks like sometimes a player is traded and then re-traded or waived. Currently investigating.
* UPDATE - I have a fix for the trades. I'll not allow a player to be placed on the trading block by the CPU if he has been acquired by a trade recently.

Manual Trade issue:
I've seen a few reports of users having trades set to Manual and still having trades done by the CPU. Again, no idea how this is happening and we're looking for more information.
* UPDATE - Not sure what's happening here, we can not get this one to reproduce. Whoever is getting this, please make sure that you don't have your profile option set to something different than your global setting. If you need to talk to me via PM or IM for further info, please just say the word!
* UPDATE 2 Thanks to tabarnes19 and a couple hours of debugging we have found the issue and have a fix in the works.

If you respond, please please PLEASE do not be noise. We need clear help or silence - we want these things cleared up as much as you do!

Much appreciated! Oh and whoever implemented the batting practice before the game in RTTS gets a major salute! Such a simple Idea yet it really adds to the game when you need that extra practice on timing before a game.

My favorite addition to the game so far..believe it or not!!

Same goes for getting to throw the warmup pitches before a reliever enters a game. Adds a lot, and is very helpful to let you see how the pitcher's breaking stuff moves.

To the Oriole player:

I had the same thing happen to me in franchise mode, I was the Orioles, first game and right about the 7th inning or bottom of 6th the game froze. I shut it off and just figured something happened. But if anyone else is playing with the O's and are having the same problems we need it to be known. It might be a bad media problem. Or maybe something else.

Issues aside, the industry as a whole should take note from these guys at SCEA. This is how you support a title and on the day of release no less??!! Simply awesome. Much appreciated guys. Much appreciated.

Im playing a ST game (1st with nats against FLA) and im getting a glitch where it's telling me the previous batter hit a HR despite being out or hitting a double.... The box score and score are still correct but it shouldn't be happening.

I'd just like to say that it isn't confined to the Giants. I was playing as the Tigers and had trades made to the Angels and the Nationals. I was initially really upset that this bug was keeping me from my beloved Franchise mode, but I'm gad to see that the devs are listening to feedback and working on fixes so quickly.

If it's any help I had Rehab, Training, Banking, and transportation set to auto; everything else was manual in both global and user settings. I was simulating large stretches of games each time it happened (about a month at a time).

In franchise, a lot of the players on my roster lost their intro songs.... i had 38 pages of songs to choose from when editing players, but when I try to edit them in franchise, I only have 13 pages.

I found another issue. (That or I need a brushup on MLB rules)

I had the bases loaded with one out. Hit a deep fly to left field which was caught. Fumbled with the controls and got the man at first doubled up for not tagging, but the runner at 3rd crossed home plate before the out was recorded. That run should not count, but it did.

Man...I already had loads of respect for SCEA but the fact that they're already on this issue is amazing. Most developers drag their feet for weeks (sometimes months) before they fix anything.

As far as my understanding goes, no runs can score until every force out possibility is exhausted. Since the play at first was a force out, and it ended the inning, the runner should not be able to score. If I had tagged at first and tried to run to 2nd and been tagged out after the runner had crossed the plate, then the run would count.

It was a force out. Even if he was tagged, it is still a force out. The run shouldn't have scored.

This is why I'm saving up for a PS3. Thanks to all the game developers of The Show for their customer support and working so hard to fix issues in the game.

Thanks.
SCEA can only use whatever jerseys/accessories are in the official MLB Style Guide. The Guide is hideously out of date for any number of reasons. It is up to the teams to make sure the Guide is updated. SCEA has no control over it, they just have to follow it.

My user settings don't work. When I check them before I start a game, they are the way I want them. But during a game, they reset back to default - so every game, I have to re do all of my Gameplay settings.

Thanks for this guys... Truly amazing to see the developers working on the game just hours after release!

Thanks again!

I started a franchise with the Tigers and was in year two when the franchise wouldn't let me simulate past June 23. I tried everything and it wouldn't go past that. If it is bad media, what do I do about that? I'm not sure I quite understand what is meant by that - is it my ps3 or the disk?

And I also ran into a glitch in an exhibition online, and on an error by the pitcher, I wasn't allowed to advance. I kept pressing advance but the game acted as if it was after the play and no one could move. I think this was a one time thing but the franchise stopping is really annoying.

The run counts since it is not a FORCE PLAY. It is considered a TIME PLAY. See the top pf page 5 at the following website:

mlb.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y2008/official_rules/02_definition_of_terms.pdf

"A FORCE PLAY is a play in which a runner legally loses his right to occupy a base by reason of the batter becoming a runner.

Rule 2.00 (Force Play)

Comment: Confusion regarding this play is removed by remembering that frequently the “force” situation is removed during the play.

Example: Man on first, one out, ball hit sharply to first baseman who touches the bag and batter-runner is out. The force is removed at that moment and runner advancing to second must be tagged. If there had been a runner on third or second,
and either of these runners scored before the tag-out at second, the run counts. Had the first baseman thrown to second and the ball then had been returned to first, the play at second was a force out, making two outs, and the return throw to first ahead of the runner would have made three outs. In that case, no
run would score.

Example: Not a force out. One out. Runner on first and third. Batter flies out. Two out. Runner on third tags up and scores. Runner on first tries to retouch before throw from fielder reaches first baseman, but does not get back in time and is out. Three outs. If, in umpire’s judgment, the runner from third touched home before the ball was held at first base, the run counts."
