NCAA Football 11 News Post

Jon Robinson, over at ESPN Videogames, sat down with Producers Ben Haumiller and Russ Kiniry, as they break down nine changes being made to NCAA Football 11. They have also posted the very first screenshot from the game.

Quote:
"Numbers on helmets might seem inconsequential to some gamers, but if you're an Alabama fan, the fact that the video game recreation of your school doesn't accurately represent the uniform details you cheer so hard for on a weekly basis has been driving you message board mad & as in, leaving threats of "I'll never play the game again," on any sports gaming board you could find in hopes someone at EA will finally hear your cries.

Cry no more.

"Alabama fans, we hear you," says "NCAA Football 11" producer Ben Haumiller. "This game's for you."

That's right, not only will "NCAA Football 11" finally feature Alabama's famed look that includes numbers on helmets, but now when gamers create their own schools using the wildly popular "Team Builder" (over 500,000 teams were created last year), they can put numbers on the sides of their helmets then watch as they actually appear in-game.

But that's not all the "NCAA Football 11" creative crew has in store for this year's game."

Lets not get too carried away here....it's the same EVERY year. Let's wait until some videos/REAL details about the gameplay drop.

If this game plays like '10, there's no way I'm buying it.

Towels, new equipment are awesome, but they arent worth $60 to me. And seeing the way every player last year wore grey sleeves, I'm still not sold....every lineman might end up wearing two kneebraces.

Nice to see 3/4 sleeves though.

But, one(doctored) pic does nothing for me.

Not a big NCAA guy, but some of these "improvements" seem like they should have been in the game years ago. I remember playing this game all of the time in college on the PS2, seems like it should be further ahead than it actually is.

Most seem happy in here though, so good on you guys.

Major "mehhh".

Formation subs - can you really celebrate this after all this time?

I love running my 5'5" 140 RB's out of the pistol There is no way he is even a 2nd string. In order to do this, I have to Press Start, go to strategy, depth charts, move him out. Kills to momentum of the game.

I'm underwhelmed at this point.

Good start for ncaa this year. Hopefully next month Ian with a bang of blog for madden 11.

Because, it would be one thing if this game still played great w/o formation subs. Then, the addition of formation subs would just make the game complete.

But this is long overdue, and just ONE important issue lacking in this game. So yes we're happy, I am at least, but more is necessary.

I want to see more field degradation and players showing effects of getting tackled. I'm talking about grass stains on jerseys and paint from the opposing team's helmets being smudged on your helmet. That would add a sense of realism to me.

because your excitement is tempered by the inexplicable delay.

Too good to be true

That is the kind of news I wanted to hear! Love all the new equipment, finally formation subs!, onfield refs, auto save...
To say that these are just the small additions and that bigger stuff is coming soon is really exciting to me! I'm really hoping that full espn/abc integration is next up!

Most lineman wear knee braces full time, not just when they're hurt.

I'm loving it! I'm an equipment freak!

A couple things other than the espn/abc integration that would seal the deal for me.

I want the sideline to look like madden 10 did. Get rid of the statue/robots and have the players talking/walking around just like madden. Adds to the realism.(just noticed the screenshot and looks like they are the same as last year. oh well).

Chain gangs and coaches!

Better crowds. I liked what they did with the ncaa bball game. Show some life!

Authentic team entrances!

All that stuff is cosmetics IMHO but the gang tackling is a great thing. Loved hearing that.

I'm excited about that update but the real throw down is gonna be on gameplay. If it's still in fast forward with zero momentum or physics then it's still all window dressing.

It will look great. The old saying... looks like tarzan plays like jane.

Here is to hoping they get the gameplay fixed up. Overall, very encouraging. I'll be following and this sounds promising.

OK you did something for Alabama. Now what about Auburn? Put Auburn's REAL fight song in, "War Eagle". Im tired of hearing "Hold 'em Tigers every time Auburn scores. It seems you have everybody's fight song but Auburn's!
What's the deal?

# 99 vatechfan44 @ 02/27/10 12:57 AM
This is a great surprise.

A)Welcome

B)This can be fixed by using Custom Stadium Sounds.

C) When would you even get to hear it?
