NCAA Football 11 News Post

Jon Robinson, over at ESPN Videogames, sat down with Producers Ben Haumiller and Russ Kiniry, as they break down nine changes being made to NCAA Football 11. They have also posted the very first screenshot from the game.

Quote:
"Numbers on helmets might seem inconsequential to some gamers, but if you're an Alabama fan, the fact that the video game recreation of your school doesn't accurately represent the uniform details you cheer so hard for on a weekly basis has been driving you message board mad & as in, leaving threats of "I'll never play the game again," on any sports gaming board you could find in hopes someone at EA will finally hear your cries.

Cry no more.

"Alabama fans, we hear you," says "NCAA Football 11" producer Ben Haumiller. "This game's for you."

That's right, not only will "NCAA Football 11" finally feature Alabama's famed look that includes numbers on helmets, but now when gamers create their own schools using the wildly popular "Team Builder" (over 500,000 teams were created last year), they can put numbers on the sides of their helmets then watch as they actually appear in-game.

But that's not all the "NCAA Football 11" creative crew has in store for this year's game."

i'm just hoping the animations and player models are different this year. judging from the screenshot, looks as though they might be a little different, so, here's to hoping.

i'd also like to see them add in saving in the middle of the game. why they dont offer that is a mystery.

This is a GOOD start. Nothing mentioned was about gameplay, which leads me to believe that they are going to release gameplay related stuff later on. I'm glad that they are paying some serious attention to presentation.

I'm very, very satisfied right now. But, the real meat of the issue will be when gameplay is on the table for discussion.

Guess calf "wrist bands" are new.

1. Refs - honesty, refs not being on the field wasn't that big to me. but glad they finally made it into the game during gameplay(already were there in cutscenes).

2. gang tackles - good to have.

3. auto save - probably the first thing i'll turn off. thankfully they will put an option to do it.

4. auto load rosters - a convenience thing, but very welcomed small addition, IMO.

5. formation subs - about time, seriously.... this is the 5th current-gen NCAA('07 on 360 was the first) and this is just now getting in? very useful feature.

6. new equipment - meh, I'm not big on the equipment for NCAA, but i suppose it'll be good. I am glad they finally added under armour cleats though(as seen on the screen shot with the South Carolina player), no more generic cleats for Texas Tech.

7. single bowl season - again, a convenience thing, and this too is a very welcomed addition, especially for people that play online dynasties.

8. dynamic conference logos - I like this. most people here probably don't care, but love it. I usually have an offline build-up dynasty and it was just dumb to take a team like MTSU from the sunbelt to another conference and still have sunbelt logos on the field. also it'll help those that play online dynasties with custom conference setups.

9. numbers on helmets - didn't bother me in NCAA 10, but I don't play Alabama. good I guess.

Exactly, I want to see what it looks like and NCAA 11 will be the only place to see it.

ND to Big Ten: Never gonna happen

That screen shot looks amazing, now lets see if the game actually ends up looking like that.

I want to see the knee braces. Or really I want to see if all O-Lineman will have them on.

And I hope that the injury equipment is goes on and comes off automatically. Other wise there is no point in even having it in the game. Nothing was more pointless then the "club" you could use as accessory

This seems like a step in the right direction. Formations Subs & Pro-Tak is a really good start. I will reserve judgement on this year's version until I hear how presentation will be addressed.

Although I gotta ask, why does EA put dynamic in front of everything?

This year's new dynamic feature, CONFERENCE LOGOS

whoopdee doooopers

just sayin..
well dynamic is faster to say than "conference field logos change based on what conference your team is in" feature.

notice in the pic, the SEC logo in orange on Clemson's field who is normally in the ACC.

Pro-Tak=YES!

ok my teambuilder heads if i read this right this means that during building your team you should be able to use a new team and the old team stadium stuff would be gone.

# 57 sportznut02 @ 02/26/10 08:09 PM
All of the stuff mentioned sounds great. I can`t wait to hear what else they have in store for this years game.

Until I hear something about presentation, I am not holding my breath on any screenshot, or numbers on the helmet......

Good to see the first info about the game has been released. NCAA Football is my all time favorite sports gaming series.

I am an equipment guy and I couldn't be happier. Nike Vapor Jets, UA cleats, calf wrist bands! Time to customize every player the way they should be.
