Happens all the time.

Not with 2K's recent poor history and the other games good history.

If the game had been solid for years, I could see this tactic working...(Hey instead of giving them a chance to test it out via the demo, lets make 'em buy it).

It also doesn't help that the previously pretty much totally neglected the game on the PS3.

I see what your saying but I don't want to believe that.

By going that way, that may mean that they don't want people to play the game before they release it and not like it, thus people that were getting it because of the 1 million dollar prize won't buy it. But the way 2K has pushed this game and most of the solid reviews, I don't think that's the case.

I don't think this has to do with 2K at all. I agree that Sony probably wants to get their product out first. I'm really excited for 2K10 and will definitely be trying out the demo. I most likely won't change my idea on buying it, unless I hate it, on the demo however because it's not the full game. I have both 360 and PS3 and will most likely get both games but I'm probably more excited for 2K10 as I know what I'm getting with the other game.

My goodness, the demo is coming out. Maybe I'm burnt out, but why does everything have to be conspiracy, negligence, etc.?

If the demo was never dated people would be complaining about that. Sometimes I wish the politics and BS in all of this would just be gone. I wish the devs from all these games would come on and say, "Shut up."

Sorry, just so tired of the negative lean that constantly takes precedence.

Is the demo slated for the 23rd only for gold users or silver ones too?

# 26 WarDawg58 @ 02/19/10 05:43 PM
Maybe its not on them because they turned it in to Sony for certification. The game companies have no control over that.

The over-dramatization of every single issue is ridiculous around here.
It does get overly dramatic but first week sales are big. Last year, MLB 2K9 sold roughly 20% of its total sales in their first week. Same thing for the Show. So it's not something to take too lightly.

Demos always hit silver members a week later I think.

Don't think so. Sony knows where they stand with their game.

Looking at the 2K facebook page it looks as if they said they submitted the demo to Sony in time but they failed to approve it before the release date. I think most people want to see the demo on PS3 just to see how "bad" the game is anyway rather than checking for improvements.

I think 95% of PS3 owners have decided what baseball game they are going to purchase if they play baseball games.

I always thought it was strange that PS3 users would want both 2k and The Show.

If you love baseball why wouldn't you want to try both? I have both paid for in full.

2K does things right in their game and have another certain level of intuitiveness that I don't ever see in other games. It's one of those things where, no matter how many Madden iterations are out there and they improve what they have, I won't have fun playing their game. It's just something about the way that their engine is built or something of another. Likewise, 2K always creates this "2K world" where things pan out in a very fun manner as long as they work correctly.

Sure, they are lacking in details and authenticity for the most part, but Visual Concepts has finally been hired after me asking for this for eight years, and I think they are going to create something that's just plain fun. As long as it works and as long as nobody has won the $1 million yet, I'll still be very intrigued to play it.

^ I merely provided that suggestion as a last resort, but as I said before that, it is hardly 2K's fault in the matter (though that doesn't mean you can't lay any blame on them, since it mostly only happens to them). ESPN Major League Baseball was delayed until mid-April for Xbox, and until early May for PS2. Whatever happened there was plenty screwy, and caused a huge dent in their sales while MVP caught up with their game and got it out the door on time. Some approval issues there caused me to get an Xbox in April.

It's just weird that I predicted this to happen again, based on not only this history that I explained, but even how we're hearing about not getting screenshots approved to get Insight featurettes out the door on time. There's something that 2K and their outsourcing partners don't seem to see eye-to-eye with for whatever reason, and this has been the case for at least seven years now.

But at least the demo still comes out, I guess that's what we can get out of this in the end.

People need to release that once 2k hands the demos to Microsoft and Sony, it is out of their control. People always blame it on the game company instead of the console company.

Exactly. I try both basketball games and I try both baseball games. If the NFL had two games I would try both of those as well. Just my personal preference. Only sport I don't do it for is hockey.

But since I love baseball I usually find fun in both games (usually one more than the other) but soem fun nonetheless.

Ignorance is bliss.
