MLB 10 News Post

ESPN Videogames have posted their first look at MLB '10: The Show.

Quote:
"MLB 09" was one of the best offline sports games of the year. But take the game online and it's virtually unplayable because of the constant lag that throws off the timing of every move, making even little things like check swings seem impossible. "We're fully aware of the complaints," admits Cutliff, "but we've made online playability a priority area for us this year to make sure the timing of everything from the release points to the swings and check swings finally look and feel right. The online game will be going through much more extensive testing than we've ever put it through before."

That looks great the only problem I saw with it is that the fans who remember those classic stadiums are dead or dying. I was hoping the classic stadiums read more like Candlestick, Tiger Stadium, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and Three Rivers.

When you are dead those will become classic.

That was fun. You could choose how much you argued and I liked to push the limit. One time I got tossed for pretty much coming out of the dugout lol.

Absolutely incredible! Controlling all 30 teams in franchise is going to be ideal and is definetely going to add some realism. I am also really excited about the futures game, active bullpens, etc. And the addition of fireworks is something that has been needed for a long time. I can't wait until march 2nd.

However, the only thing that bummed me out was that it looks like there won't be Single A teams this year (hinted in RTTS 4.0).

Everything looks great but I just wish we could here more about the on the field gameplay itself. It seems every year all the previews and reviews focus on are the presentation, annimations, etc..

I remember those days. While we are at it how about the player suspensions for charging the mound and bean balls. First time I charged the mound I had a player suspended for 7 days!

They said 11 new stadiums, 5 minor league and 6 classic...does that mean the new twins stadium is not going to be in the game? I thought I saw an article on kotaku talking about them putting in the new field, but I could be wrong. With Mauer on the cover, you'd think they would put it in...

# 48 econoodle @ 12/17/09 10:57 AM
Malvin, the new target field is in the ga,e, you can see it in the mauer shot.

Nemesis, that is true when I'm dead a lot of things will be classic.

I still hope they have those stadiums I mentioned (Tiger Stadium, Candlestick, etc) available as DLC even if I have to pay extra.

I'm as big a fan of MLB The Show as anyone, but if they didn't do anything to improve on franchise mode (horrible CPU trading logic, budgets, etc.), I may just stick with '09. I'm so far into my franchise now, it would be a shame to start over.

Even though the presentation stuff does sound REALLY cool.

Wait until we see a fact sheet and other information come out, don't just jump to speculation.

Thats the stance I'm taking right now. Dont get me wrong, SCEA has done an amazing job with their product, but it will be a no go if the DL glitch isn't fixed or if the CPU logic (i.e. Trading Tim Lincecum) continues to make head scratching moves.

Wow. Dude we're talking a preview article and screenshots. The ESPN article said they're still things they're trying to get in. I don't know how you make can assumptions about ANY product 90 days before it's available.

I wish they would change the 6 1/3 starting pitching logic. That has always been the thing that drove me crazy the most about this game. The only way your pitcher stays in the game past 6.1 is if the game is tied or he has a shutout. If its say 3-1 and the pitcher has only thrown 70 pitches, he gets taking out every friggin time at 6.1. Fix that please. Thats not realistic.

I'm looking forward to the new presentation.

My favorite part of The Show is RTTS. I don't care about the boring training sessions or the Home Run Derby, I hope they fixed to wonky manager logic and goal system. I do like that you start in AA, that's much better than ST.

I'm glad they are fixing the online and fast players as well.

I was really hoping for a dynamic season mode like NBA Live has, that'd be awesome for a long 162-game baseball season so that you wouldn't have to worry about sim stats for games not played.

My man Marino sums up my thoughts on your thoughts.

Only thing I'm disappointed with is the lack of Ebbetts Field as a classic stadium...was really looking forward to playing there. Other than that, it all sounds great!

First time poster here. Loved (and still loving) '09 but '10 just sounds awesome.

Roll on 2 March (plus the week or so it'll take for my copy to get shipped over the pond).
