All-American is hopeless IMO, I'll be very surprised (and happy) if a slider maker can eliminate what I see below. This never happens on Varsity, happens nearly every time on AA. I literally saw this 8-10 times in the first four minutes of an AA game. It couldn't be fixed in Live so I don't have much hope for this game. At least Varsity eliminates this kinda stuff, in Live Pro level did not.

This is taken from directly under the basket, I clearly have beaten my man shoulder to shoulder with Dyson and should have a good layup animation here where he protects the ball with his body and lays it in with his right hand. Instead this happens...

Varsity FTW!

Glad to hear you're digging the game DirtyJerz.
I think that you are right. Just got smoked by Illionois and a lot of inside contact. For sure do not see that much in varsity. I'm gonna lower my shooting sliders very slightly and the cpu seems to be fine. I saw the hyper speed that Steve was talking about. Half court offense teams are fine but up tempo is insane

Dynasty Question for anyone who can answer:

Does this game have a coaching carousel ala 2k8? Can you get offered a new job if you start off at smaller school? Does CPU coaches ever leave for different schools and does it show you?

Back from work, now for some more NCAA 10 & impressions....

Rasco I'm with you on Game Speed at 41, seems perfect. Same thing applies here as with Live, meaning lowering speed takes away that open court sprint from players who really shouldn't have it in the first place, and tones it down for the guys who retain it, so it looks and feels much more fluid and realistic. 41 Gamespeed is where I've had it my last 15 games or so.

Figured I'd give my fellow diehard bballers a glimpse into my setup:

Playing on AA from the start, 16 min halves... and I can't lie, most games are a dogfight with many lead changes, physical play inside, and the CPU D forcing you to run a play basically EVERY time downcourt if you have no slashers. But I played with Cali versus Holy Cross and blew them out tip to buzzer. But went to Kansas and had it handed to me consecutively. Wasn't going out like that so I went back to Haas Pavillion and edged them out. Felt brave, went back to their gym and actually won by dbl figures. The key is to NEVER wing it on offense against great squads. Like Ehh, always run plays and get your shooters looks, or it will be brick city.

Sidenote: I kinda feel the FT's should be patched. I mean, I can make them, but it doesn't feel like skill to me at the moment, more like "tap & pray" lol

My Tweaks: (BTW, #'s by sliders EA, what a concept!)

Gamespeed: 41
Hum & CPU Sink or Swim is at 75... to minimize one-on-one game, for a more NCAA-type offense
Hum & CPU Interception is at 90. I like to see passes made that can be made in real life
Reach-In & Charge/Block Fouls at 100
Fatigue Effect 90
Collision Foul 40
Boundary Force Field 25
CPU short, med, long range, layup, all at 45
CPU & User Fakeout Discipline at 100
CPU Dunk/Layup Block Ability at 25 (They still send your stuff into the stands VERY often)

It feels great to have made these tweaks after a few hours of play, and not have to keep incessantly tweaking to get it right. Been having great games against powerhouses, winning, losing, and just really enjoying this. I recommend trying these tweaks guys, I think they're excellent for now.

One thing though, I noticed guys like Ehh saying he uses UConn, and struggles from 3. I think that's probably a factor that makes me stick to Cali, or a team with at least two 80-90 rated outside shooters. I run Flex or 2 Down 3 Up mostly, and Randle Robertson and esp Christopher knock down the good looks at a high rate. I imagine with a lesser shooting team it's a bit harder to score. But my bigs get looks off the threat of these shooters.

I see some are struggling with driving, and all the contact on AA. This is similar to Live with me personally, I prefer to play on the highest level because I actually sort of like the physicality. But on SS/AA levels, you simply MUST use the RT and throw the stick to the L or R to evade the defender, and NEVER (did I say NEVER?) ever, ever, hold Turbo and X with LS toward the rim. Use the layup solutions with RT or just X+LS R or L depending on where the traffic is every single time, and you'll have success driving.

Shots around the rim have been cleaned up from Live, nice. Not nearly as many acrobatic no-look layups when you want to just go straight up, like in Live. Use your bigs if they're skilled, and apply the same logic as the layup solutions when posting. Hit X/Square while holding LS away from the defender, or drop step then evade with LS+X/Square.

Anyone else feeling like the anims are much more varied and smoother than Live's? Man, if only Live had another month of dev time...

Glad ehh confirmed they do have correct jerseys, including the Navy blue alternate. Looking forward to running with the Orange, especially after watching them put a beatdown on Cal

Unfortunately, I'm not going to get my hands on this one till Christmas as it's on my wish list, so as per the wife's order, I'm not allowed to buy it. I either get it as a gift or I pick it up Dec. 26.

Good stuff Steve, let us know your progress and what you find. I'm starting to tweak stuff as well and I'll purposely do stuff different than what you're tweaking so hopefully we can meet in the middle somewhere eventually!

Nice impressions.

The thing I quoted is a very good thing though, the feel/difference between teams and players is awesome this year, everything was very bland and similar in 09. I always want to run an additional dynasty with Michigan and this year I'll actually do it because they play so damn differently than UConn this game.

And you're right, it's definitely a struggle to score with UConn at times esp when teams start really sagging into the paint. Very realistic though, I love it.

is there anyway to play in your face defense? if I hold rb he backs off even on tight setting. college teams especially the good ones get up in your face so that u can't run your offense easy. anyway to recreate this? thanks

no coaching carousel, but you do get offers from other teams, and you can resign and get a new job similar to ncaa football

Thanks for the reply. A little disappointing but at least it gives me a chance to actually do a Michigan dynasty.

All COnference difficulty is too much for my EWU. ha ha ha. I guess ill try those sliders and play Varsity.

If there's a more fun team to play with than UW-Milwaukee, I haven't found them.

Whoever it was that suggested 41 for game speed, you're awesome. It plays so much more realistic now, not to mention that I can finally play 20 minute halves and get realistic results because the game is slower.

man I just had a awesome game. texas me vs ku at tex. overtime win 75-71. hit a 3 at buzzer to put it in ot. I love the new motion offense. also if u didn't know u can press the y or b button during even if its grayed out. helped tremendously with running plays. collins was tough to handle, so was henry an the big fella to. for my team they had no answer for the new kid on the block number 0. he went 6-12 from 3. james was slashing, the tip about layups startin 18 ft really helps. couldn't get the big fella involved though. in foul trouble though, my post game isn't very polished either. anyways awesome experience crowd was nuts. I was on default all american 15 min halves.

Just got it last night along with AC2 and the God of War collection, which I had never played before, so spent most of my night with that.

Have yet to jump into the game as I usually like to name UCLA's team first. One thing that is really disappointing with not being able to change classes of made players is also you can't delete any players from your team in the roster management screen. So because they felt it important to add 4 walk on PG players to UCLA's team I can only add one created player to UCLA because the roster fills up with that one player. They are missing 3 freshmen which I figured as much would happen, but thought I would be able to create them all. Now I have to choose who to leave off.

Going to suck for roster makers. Not that big of a deal in the overall scheme of things of course, but I never understood why they would not let you change a players class or at least let you delete players from a roster so you can add more created players.

Well off to play a game or so before bed. Will post back with my thoughts later today.

After playing it some more, I feel this game is pretty good. Looking forward to our roster makers here on OS to work their magic.

2 things though that really bug me about this game are the lack of varied animations in all aspects of gameplay and the feeling that the players and shots have no "weight" to them. The 2K games feel very good in the weight dept. It actually feels like you are making contact with the players and the shots feel like they have some weight behind them.

I'm finding that varsity plays a pretty good game and gives good stats. I played a game using USC vs Mich St. I kept it pretty close until thend when Mich St pulled away and won by 8. Shooting % for both teams was in the mid 40's.

Anyone spy any deals on this game yet or is it too early? Really want to pick it up, but I'm broke after L4D2 and Mario.

I have seen it listed as used on Gamestop's website for $44.99 the nearest copy is about 37 miles away from me in ANN Arbor. Don't know how they have used copies already?

Playing a couple of games with the Illini, I found I had trouble with outside jumpers and my offense was bogged down. I then played as UNC and after a slower first half where I increased my lead to 8 at the end of the half, I started bombing from the outside and blew them out. The teams do feel and play different so far to me.

Playing on Varsity myself as I like it here. The CPU shooting sliders may be a bit low at default. OSU shot 50% in the first half against me in my first game, the other games neither CPU team has come close. Need to up my foul sliders too as I need some more FT attempts by each team, and less FGA.
