Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Available, Post Impressions Here

Dynasty Question for anyone who can answer:

Does this game have a coaching carousel ala 2k8? Can you get offered a new job if you start off at smaller school? Does CPU coaches ever leave for different schools and does it show you?

Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Available, Post Impressions Here

Back from work, now for some more NCAA 10 & impressions....

Rasco I'm with you on Game Speed at 41, seems perfect. Same thing applies here as with Live, meaning lowering speed takes away that open court sprint from players who really shouldn't have it in the first place, and tones it down for the guys who retain it, so it looks and feels much more fluid and realistic. 41 Gamespeed is where I've had it my last 15 games or so.

Figured I'd give my fellow diehard bballers a glimpse into my setup:

Playing on AA from the start, 16 min halves... and I can't lie, most games are a dogfight with many lead changes, physical play inside, and the CPU D forcing you to run a play basically EVERY time downcourt if you have no slashers. But I played with Cali versus Holy Cross and blew them out tip to buzzer. But went to Kansas and had it handed to me consecutively. Wasn't going out like that so I went back to Haas Pavillion and edged them out. Felt brave, went back to their gym and actually won by dbl figures. The key is to NEVER wing it on offense against great squads. Like Ehh, always run plays and get your shooters looks, or it will be brick city.

Sidenote: I kinda feel the FT's should be patched. I mean, I can make them, but it doesn't feel like skill to me at the moment, more like "tap & pray" lol

My Tweaks: (BTW, #'s by sliders EA, what a concept!)

Gamespeed: 41
Hum & CPU Sink or Swim is at 75... to minimize one-on-one game, for a more NCAA-type offense
Hum & CPU Interception is at 90. I like to see passes made that can be made in real life
Reach-In & Charge/Block Fouls at 100
Fatigue Effect 90
Collision Foul 40
Boundary Force Field 25
CPU short, med, long range, layup, all at 45
CPU & User Fakeout Discipline at 100
CPU Dunk/Layup Block Ability at 25 (They still send your stuff into the stands VERY often)

It feels great to have made these tweaks after a few hours of play, and not have to keep incessantly tweaking to get it right. Been having great games against powerhouses, winning, losing, and just really enjoying this. I recommend trying these tweaks guys, I think they're excellent for now.

One thing though, I noticed guys like Ehh saying he uses UConn, and struggles from 3. I think that's probably a factor that makes me stick to Cali, or a team with at least two 80-90 rated outside shooters. I run Flex or 2 Down 3 Up mostly, and Randle Robertson and esp Christopher knock down the good looks at a high rate. I imagine with a lesser shooting team it's a bit harder to score. But my bigs get looks off the threat of these shooters.

I see some are struggling with driving, and all the contact on AA. This is similar to Live with me personally, I prefer to play on the highest level because I actually sort of like the physicality. But on SS/AA levels, you simply MUST use the RT and throw the stick to the L or R to evade the defender, and NEVER (did I say NEVER?) ever, ever, hold Turbo and X with LS toward the rim. Use the layup solutions with RT or just X+LS R or L depending on where the traffic is every single time, and you'll have success driving.

Shots around the rim have been cleaned up from Live, nice. Not nearly as many acrobatic no-look layups when you want to just go straight up, like in Live. Use your bigs if they're skilled, and apply the same logic as the layup solutions when posting. Hit X/Square while holding LS away from the defender, or drop step then evade with LS+X/Square.

Anyone else feeling like the anims are much more varied and smoother than Live's? Man, if only Live had another month of dev time...

Glad ehh confirmed they do have correct jerseys, including the Navy blue alternate. Looking forward to running with the Orange, especially after watching them put a beatdown on Cal

Unfortunately, I'm not going to get my hands on this one till Christmas as it's on my wish list, so as per the wife's order, I'm not allowed to buy it. I either get it as a gift or I pick it up Dec. 26.

For those trying to play on varsity, the steals for user need to come way down imo, heres some other tests that I have been using.

user:

steals 40

intercepts 50

All user FG's on 45

CPU:

post strength 60

shot alter 60

fight threw screen 60

I am just going to keep rasing these until it is hard enough on varsity

cpu FG's all on 55

Good stuff Steve, let us know your progress and what you find. I'm starting to tweak stuff as well and I'll purposely do stuff different than what you're tweaking so hopefully we can meet in the middle somewhere eventually!

Nice impressions.

The thing I quoted is a very good thing though, the feel/difference between teams and players is awesome this year, everything was very bland and similar in 09. I always want to run an additional dynasty with Michigan and this year I'll actually do it because they play so damn differently than UConn this game.

And you're right, it's definitely a struggle to score with UConn at times esp when teams start really sagging into the paint. Very realistic though, I love it.

Re: NCAA Basketball 10 Available, Post Impressions Here

I had some good results with the adjustments that I had on the prior page against Illinois with UVA. They were up by 5 with 24 to 19 with 9 min to go first half, not that one game is a great indicator, but you can feel it is harder to score, which it needs to be. I just want good teams to be disruptive defensively of my offensive sets

Cpu played better on varsity with these settings:

Cpu:

block layup/dunk 55

steals 55

intercept 55

offensive reounding 60

Hands on perimeter 65

hands in post 65

drop step effectiveness 65

sink or swim 65

fight threw screen 65

alter shot 65

defensive post strength 65

shot fake displine ( a must for this level) 65

all FG's on 55 for cpu

I am going to find an AI for this come hell or highwater

OH and user interception ability on 50, and all user fg's on 45.

user steal ability 40, user dunk percentage, 40
