NHL 2K10 News Post

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to quickly mention the NHL team here at Visual Concepts is currently working on a title update for NHL 2K10 to address some specific issues with the game, as well as ones reported here on the forums. Upon its release we will also be sure to post a list of all the changes made for the patch.

So, now the only thread we had to talk about the possible patch has been overtaken by another EA vs 2K argument? Can we drop it? Can an admin at least come in here and transfer this argument into another thread?? I don't think we should have to sift through all this to read about the patch.

There's nothing in here about the patch anyway. I'm sure once the details are out there will be a new thread. Not that I condone going OT, but this thread has nothing useful beyond the first post anyway.

Let's not minimize this point (I'm a little biased cause he's a fellow cap fan) I like the fact that EA is around with a solid game. Look how good both basketball games are this year. Both companies are pushing each other. 2k's hockey team has only 2 years of development and has a pretty big task to match EA's progression but they have made great strides over last year. I hated to see Kush leave 2k cause I thought they were REALLY close to making it a no contest

If they don't address the passive defense, d-men in particular I really could care less about anything else in the patch.

Good news and please enable lock-on for online co-op franchise.

All I know is the quality of the mentioned Patch will make or break this game I feel for the rest of the year. If there are alot of major along with some of the minor issues addressed and no other bugs rear their ugly heads afterwards, 2K10 may get alot more of my time and even bring in some new customers yet.

Welp NHL10 announced their patch around Nov. 5th, "your move" 2K....

I agree though if all they fix is the ref freeze and the online stuff (aka stuff that shouldn't have been there in the first place) Then that'll be a wrap on this game for a lot of folks.

Touché sir. The bugged chise in NHL 10 (which I have) is killing me. 2k doesn't seem all that bad and will be my new game depending on the patch

Long thread for no details on the patch.

I have not had any freezes in well over 50 games.
The goalie jumping out to get the puck happens too often but more with goalies that give up a lot of rebounds.
I don't really have a problem with the way the defenders play, it depends they could be more aggressive but then people would probably complain that they couldn't get off enough shots.

Not perfect but I like it, curious to see what this patch brings.

Some people not having it at all means it's not coded in the software. It probably means conditions on the systems are causing it. Lenses? System temperature maybe? I don't know.

I have gotten used to the stick sweep, not as effective as 2K9, but maybe that was too effective. I have started sometimes just holding my stick out to interfere with the guy instead of trying to take the puck all the time, too me that is a little more realistic.

Stick sweeps/pokes seem fine to me, fairly realistic. You need good timing and body positioning to make them work consistently, which is true to real life.

Great news about the patch. It's nice to see the NHL series getting the same attention as NBA and MLB when it comes to patches. I think it shows the confidence 2k has in the series and ensures that we can look forward to NHL 2K11. Thanks!

As far as the "choppy animations", I thought this was something a company could patch. Wasn't it the game "Two Worlds" that had animation issues, then I read (if I'm correct) that they released a patch that fixed the animation choppiness.....?

Is there a set date for the patch yet?

Darn! The longer it takes the patch to come out, the longer I have to wait to start my franchise.

I waited for the roster with Tavares and now I'm in December in my franchise. I can't imagine waiting for the patch. I'd return the game!
