I have played both demos, FIFA and PES; while FIFA definitely better in many ways as been mentioned before; why does playing the PES AI seem more realistic. Actual midfield play in PES, FIFA seems always the same? Anyone else play both demos and see difference?

I have a question, how do you play at wembly?

I can only play at the FIWC stadium.

Just played it and I am pretty impressed from what I have seen so far.

Disappointed that there are no cut scenes/camera cuts in the game. I was hoping the intro presentation would be much better.

Loved that the AI makes mistakes in the passing game. They lead too far or completely miss the run which I love. No more super passing.

Also like the more control part. I was able to bring in the ball and felt like I had much more control after a trick then past editions.

I've only been able to play at Wembley. Hmmm...

Really? That's something I think all of us wanted out of the game. I think the majority of us still think there are too many cut scenes still in the game. I guess in matters of opinion, no one can be wrong.

I like the ref running up with the card vs. the close-up, but had one where it ended up cutting to the ref like in Fifa09. Would have liked to have seen some better intro shots. I'm liking the new camera angles for corners and goal kicks. But there's still something that is lacking in the overall atmosphere. But I'll take those little niggles in light of how much more fluid and intelligent the game plays now. Just wondering how MM will end up. That's my Fifa bread and butter.

Perhaps a PS3 vs. 360 thing?

It sucks, because I'm not a fan of playing at dusk.

I just downloaded the demo and played 2 games so far and I like the gameplay so far. Either that or I'm just craving some soccer right now LOL. Even though some of the graphics are a lot like last year and not that it's a bad thing, but I wanted some kind of improvement because gameplay is just as solid.

Don't know if any of you have tried the camera angeles, but I played one game on Broadcast and I like that angle even though when the ball is on top of the pitch, it seems far away, but I like the way the camera moves with the ball.

They could always put a option to turn on/off. Personally I liked the cut scenes I saw in Euro UEFA 08.

I see why some wouldn't like it though. I at least hope winning a championship brings a more dynamic celebration.

Yep, the ref running up with the card is awesome and I like it better as well compared to the close up.

Like you though man, I'm hoping MM scores this year as that mode has been neglected for a while.

After playing both the PES and FIFA demo's, I have to say I like the PES one better. PES does feel a bit unresponsive, but I'm hoping the demo is from an early build of the game and the final will be more polished.

FIFA looks the same as 09 graphics wise, while PES looks light years better than last year. The pace of FIFA still seems off, its still basketball on grass, PES pace feels just right. Once again the camera angles suck in FIFA - I want to throw up after playing - trying to use the Pro view which has been terrible for the past couple of years, I can't understand how Konami can get the Pro angle perfect and EA can't even come close.

This will probably be the first year I won't buy FIFA - maybe I will get it further down the road, I have bought and played it for years and only got into PES in the last few months. PES looks and plays more like a soccer game is supposed, even without offical licenses,
I prefer to edit the game myself anyway.

EA Sports: FIFA 10 DEMO: Barcelona 3 - 0 Chicago Fire

Correct me if I'm wrong, fellow FIFA players, but the angled run Henry makes into the box feels new (and quite welcome) to me. I can't remember AI teammates seeing the space and making the appropriate run like he did in this clip. If he only he were still wearing the red and white of the Arsenal...

It's console dependent.

XBox is Wembley, FIWC is PS3. That's all there is to it.

After playing both demos I can say that I am more torn then ever. The responsiveness and passing in fifa, especially the ground passing, is far superior to PES. PES' ground passing is too direct and rigid. Player movement is also very poor. Playing as Messi in fifa actually feels like I am able to replicate his movement and style where as in PES it is not possible due to the rigidness in the movement.

With that being said, PES' AI is MUCH better then FIFA's. This is my only huge grip with fifa. All the teams play the same way. They all shoot a lot and rarely hold possession or attempt to since they only seem to go forward. In PES what made the game enjoyable was the fact that the comp moves the ball in a realistic way by passing it back and fourth to create chances. As much as I love fifa, on world class regardless of the team I can easily hold the ball 60% of the time, where in PES it is much more challenging. Barcelona in Fifa, plays like a very good team. Even with little possession they can quickly get shots off where the Chicago Fire are just not very good. It feels like Barca is a very good team and that is the only way they distinguish themselves from other rivals. So in Fifa teams only play differently in terms of their effectiveness and not in their style. So, in a sense they do not play differently at all, the better the team the more effective they are in attacking and defending. In PES this was not the case because certain games felt more like a battle for possession and control depending on the team's style of play.

The biggest shocker is that PES actually looks much better then fifa. From the in game graphics to the up close player likenesses PES is far superior. The game just looks so good. Do not get me wrong Fifa still has very good graphics but prior to seeing PES I would have said they have incredible graphics but that is now not the case. However, FIFAs animations demolition PES. It really is not comparable. Fifa's players animate and move in a way that PES does not. Overall graphics go to PES and animations go to FIFA.

Overall, I cannot decide. It is very difficult to say which is that much better because I do not believe one to be far superior to the other because both are very flawed. They are actually very much the opposite in experience. Where FIFA is fluid in control, PES is very rigid and restricted in what can be done. PES as stated has far superior AI that attempt to play in a variety of ways, where in FIFA teams only distinguish themselves in effectiveness not in style as they all play the same way. PES' control ruin the experience for me where the AI ruin it for me in FIFA. The AI makes PES a very good play, while the control and animations make FIFA so much fun.

Thoughts?

I'm really impressed by the FIFA 10 demo and so far have wanted to play it more than the PES demo. FIFA 10 feels so fluid and the animations are fantastic, even if PES may have a bit nicer player models now.

This goal I scored with Juventus really showed some of the amazing things that I am finding with the demo - using Del Piero, I saw Camorenesi making a run along the top sideline. I was able to hit him with a beautiful long ball (B button) which would never be possible in PES. I love the speed of the cross-field balls in FIFA 10.

Beautiful cross, yes. Realistic? Not if it was with the inside of the foot. I can see that type of cross loop down like that if it was a volley with the instep (laces), but not with the side of the foot. Beautiful run though, absolutely perfect timing - and I like how he called for the ball to be played. The glory of the goal is not being downplayed, I am just focused on some of the annoying ball physics.

EA really need to figure out the ball physics a bit more here. Crossing should be hard and specifically aimed at noone, it should not meet players heads, players' heads should meet the ball - if that makes sense. This has been my #1 concern with the FIFA series that EA just have never gotten right. You can't just cross the ball and have a forward stand straight up and head the ball, sure it happens, but most of the time a player's momentum is what drives in goals - believe me I've scored plenty of them and I find myself on the ground because of that momentum.

Ball physics - make it a priority next year.

As for my input of the demo. Well, I'm probably going to buy FIFA 10 over PES 10 this year, it just feels more like football - I just hope anything that Riz has said gets addressed and they do not mess up Manager Mode again, along with that BAP has to be longer than 4 years.

After three games, I'm impressed and excited. It's clearly a step up from last year, and on the "slow" speed, the pace is pretty much perfect.
