Madden 2010 News Post

Check out the Madden NFL 10 FAQ - Part 1.

Quote:
"Hey Madden fans! It's been a little while since we dropped a post here on the blog, but we wanted to use this opportunity to answer a bunch of the most asked questions that have been showing up on forums, twitter, etc.

We thought we'd try something new though and do the FAQ in video form. It just made it more personal.

Some key points before you watch:

- The first title update was completed before the game shipped (in case you are wondering why certain issues didn't make it in)
- We're hard at work on the second title update, focusing primarily on various aspects of gameplay
- We're going to continue to make more of these FAQ videos."

If anyone wants to transcribe all of it I bet I could find some swag to send.

Well, I mean Ian and Co. thats all they play so they want to focus on that. We hear about everything with their league, it's so annoying.

So no news about all the stat glitches, especially in franchise? Wow this is dissapointing to say the least.

You mean like this? This DB can keep up with Devin Hester of all people in a backpedal for 30 yards on a fly...

If anything, I would like to echo the call for clarification on tackles stats (and other stat fixes) and ask that if anything can be done about offline franchise customization, it be looked into. Being able to fully edit players mid-franchise (to include attributes) would go a long way towards adding replay value to the mode...at least for me.

Maybe you can convince Josh to do a FAQ on what specific plans he has for fixing some of the franchise concerns...just an idea.
thanks for getting this addressed...I know Josh stated that stats were the #1 factor for progression so it would be hard to believe that the problem of tackle assists not being counted towards total tackles in user controlled games (offline franchise and quick play) wouldn't be a top priority? a lot of people have been bringing this up too...

Ian,

Thanks for the update, and I can't wait for the patch and DLC. Also thanks to the gentleman that summarized the vids and title updates. Peace.

What exactly is this? Any help would be appreciated

Fixed WR release to where receivers release to both sides

if your looking for more ways to get sacks than fix how the O-lineman engage the outside rushers by making them drop back instead of warping to the rusher and brickwall his *** as soon as the ball is snapped.

also when the dline is engaged they disengage to late when they have an angle at the QB. the game says passrushers are more aware of the QB but they obviously arent.

dont think you can fix it though, seems hardwired in and someting for 11

Old's Cool - He specifically talked with Josh Looman on this topic and they are working on these for the 2nd patch.

You should probably actually watch the video before being disappointed.

On press/bump coverage, receivers will release to either the inside or outside instead of just one outcome. NCAA had a similar issue pre-patch #2 and it has since been fixed (thankfully).

Great info. Thanks.

Ian,

Thanks for the update.

How about CPU AI?
1. CPU struggles to manage the 2 minute offense. Runs the hurry up without calling timeouts...scores giving opponent plenty of time to score again....does not throw long enough when down by a TD with only a few seconds left.

2. CPU throws way too much to slot receiver and TE's instead of lead star WR's.

3. CPU punter does not "coffin" kick. When on the 45 or 50 and punting it does not kick for the corner.

4. I have played some games, especially against the Saints where they will not even try a 44 or 42 yard FG. Unless rain or snow, the CPU should always try a 50 yard or less FG.

Thanks for the expected answer

I was very pleased with the responses Ian. too bad the flats won't be addressed.... I mean I haven't had much problems with them as of late but I know how big an issue this is because I did actually use to have them. But other than that, great job.

I was thinking that the main reason for the bad pursuit of the Offense would be their ratings. Is there a way to make the AI think, "ok, on a break-out play let's focus on not giving up a touchdown" instead "Let's try to get after the ball-carrier"? Or even on 4th and long when an underneath pass is thrown. Can the AI focus on "let's keep the ballcarrier in front of me, with me being in front of the first down line"?

Good stuff Ian a lot of good fixes in there. There is one I noticed that I didn't mention in either the first or second "patch" and that is the considerable lag when transitioning from the online to the offline menus and from the lobbies to another portion of the online menu. There is also lag and partial freezing at some points in-game. I tweeted u this on Twitter and I have yet to get a response to you, can u guys fix this?

There are definitely some things missing from the video, but overall it sounds great. Especially glad that something as obvious as the FG holding calls were noticed before the game released and you all just ran out of time...

Interesting. CPU Saints had a FG opportunity from the 20 (not an exaggeration - would have been a 37 yarder) against me and punted it instead. Carney isn't that weak in his old age.

Why cant the wildcat QB scramble just be an option that ppl can turn off or on as they please. Guess if they do that we will have to wait for Madden 12

# 120 swanlee @ 09/09/09 11:56 PM
Will we have to restart our Franchise for each and every fix in the patch to work within our Franchise?

This is a pretty important question because if you do then I guess I'll wait till patch number two to play again and then scrap my current Franchise.

I know from last year some things worked without restarting but some things did not.

If this is the case can we get a list of things that will or will not be fixed if we continue our current Fracnhise after the patches.
