Madden 2010 News Post

September 9, 2009 – This season marks the 50th season for the eight original American Football League (AFL) teams, and EA SPORTS is commemorating the celebration with the release of the AFL Legacy Pack game add-on for Madden NFL 10.

Available on September 24th, the comprehensive add-on brings the heritage of the AFL to Madden NFL 10 with all-new 1960’s-style presentation elements. Referees don the orange striped AFL uniforms, official AFL markings and logos decorate the field, and more – all while featuring a retro football card-like user interface and classic film grain broadcast camera.

The eight original AFL teams will be represented by name and wear their historic uniforms, including the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs (as the Dallas Texans), New England Patriots (as the Boston Patriots), New York Jets (as the Titans of New York), Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans (as the Houston Oilers).

The 15 AFL Legacy Game matchups during the 2009 NFL regular season will include the Legacy Pack presentation in the offline Franchise mode, as well as during the Play Now, and Superstar modes. Historic AFL uniforms can be selected in any mode – offline or online!

Relive some of the greatest moments in AFL history with all-new Madden Moments, which include additional Xbox 360 achievements and PS3 trophies.

The AFL Legacy Pack game add-on for Madden NFL 10 will be available on September 24th for 560 Microsoft Points and $6.99 on the PSN Store.

The award-winning Madden NFL 10, the highest rated version ever for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, is in stores now.

The same logic is applied here. The thing I'm the most happy about is that they are delivering the entire package at one, affordable price instead of nickel and diming us by charging per uniform or per feature.

Just pay the $7 and be happy or don't and be happy.

It's an easy choice.
They should at least give me the jerseys for free. They can charge for all the other stuff. I would be fine with just the jerseys, but I gave them $60 dollars and was hoping to get these jerseys included in the game.

Considering I've already dropped $60 to buy the game, YES.

I can't believe EA suckered all of you guys into thinking this is some can't miss addition by adding a color filter (Sepia broadcast). Come on.

Jerseys should have been in the game from the start. It's not like it is hard to make their jerseys in the game, it's a simple texture paste. Pathetic they are going to charge $7 basically for uniforms. The whole presentation thing is so ridiculous they HAD to add that to make you think you were getting value... and that will be played out after you use it once. Trust me. It's been done before (the old school presentation filter), wonder why you haven't heard of it? Because no one cared about it. It's stupid and useless.

So what if the franchise is automatically set up for these games? Who cares? You could set it up yourself just as easily if the uniforms were included in the game like they should have been, considering it was widely known the NFL was celebrating the AFL anniversary this year.

I hate the argument about other items, like cars. If you bought a brand new car and it had 3 out of the 4 tires, you would be pissed, right? Well, here they are offering you 3 out of the 4 uniforms that SHOULD be in the game. It's not like NFL teams are the Oregon Ducks, some teams don't even have throwbacks. It's ridiculous that they weren't in to start and now to make us feel like $7 is respectable, they add orange ref jerseys (that we will probably see cut scenes of 100x too much in ONE game) and a sepia filter(that will be cool for all of the first 5 seconds you see it).... unreal that some fish are biting on this.

If this were just jerseys, I wouldn't care enough to buy.

But okay, the 60's style presentation has sold me. That is awesome.

DLC is supposed to be something that opens up new features or new levels or something in the game that wasn't there in the first place.

This adds nothing to the game of any substance. Unis should have all been in there from the beginning. Being lazy and not including them so you can charge for them later is not what I would consider a "new feature". Also, adding a light brown filter to the game and some burn spots to make it look old should not be worth paying $7 for... heck I can adjust the options on my screen to do that for free.

Dumb DLC and not worth $7. I wish I was the owner of a business like EA and could charge for stuff that should have been in my original product and be praised when I charge for it.

Horrible analogy.

Does a car work properly with 3 out of 4 tires?

The great thing about this is that no one is forcing you to spend $7 on it. Go buy a #1 from McDonald's, be happy, and move on from it.

So what if no throwbacks were in the game at all? Then they charged us for that? What if they came out with extended commentary and charged for that? It is terrible that games are going this route. We pay enough for this damn game and they are making money from commercials that they added too. You know it is all cooll if they are making money on these things . I would just like to see that money used to make the game better. I know Daniel Snyder is ripping us off with ticket prices but at least he is spending money on players and is not being cheap with our team. Now if this helps EA get better game testing and make a superior product next year then I will have no problem with it. Kind of a bad example but what happens when we something that really adds to the game playing experience comes in down loadable form and you are forced to pay or not play. Just not cool when we pay so much especially over the past 5 years for an inferior product..

Problem solved for you then, no need to buy it.

Nothing more to say.

And by the way, saying it adds nothing to the game of substance pretty much negates your example of selling a car with 3 tires instead of 4.

I must have missed the part where new field art for the afl games and refs in their red unis and specific game banners count as just a uniform pack.

# 30 Fu Man Ching @ 09/08/09 04:37 PM
Would 2k charge you for AFl unis and symbols on the field? The answer is no. They didn't. That is what's wrong with this.

You're right.

2k is such a soundly run company making great business decisions that it's still making football games.

Oh wait, they're not.

Survival of the fittest. Guess who won?

I'll probably get it, but I still think they should have added afros to the referees and bell bottoms on the coaches.

How do you know they wouldn't be doing this now?

Charging for DLC wasn't nearly as prevalent then as it is now.

If they fix the run blocking, pass blocking(cpu blitz), and sim stats in franchise, then i will buy this. Not before.

Do they charge people for throwbacks in NBA2k9? Why would anyone defend this? Give me a reason why we should have to pay and then I'll agree with you. I am very open to debates. I just think the in game advertisements,New DLC, and old DLC is a little ridiculous. It is GREED. Why doesn't EA have a freaking yard sale while there at. Are they tight on money or something? OR is that license making them broke. There should already be presentation elements that change when I arrange a throwback game. Commentators should say something about it and the symbols should change. Why should I have to pay for that?

# 38 Tengo Juego @ 09/08/09 04:47 PM
Its cool. But I'm not buying it. I'm not so in love with Madden this year to spend MORE money it.

Was this comment suppsed to mean something. I mean. I get it that you hate the word 2k and 2k might have kidnapped your children but damn. They are the last example i have to compare to. I didn't like that game except for the little things they did.
Survival of the fittest?............ Dude. Calm down. It is more like Survival of the Greediest.

I love it. Every company does DLC, but only EA gets s**t for it. Laughable.

I want those uni's so i'm getting it. its 7$. The price of a value meal. Calm down the noise.
