Another thing I didn't like was what I saw from 1:00 - 1:05

Watch this sequence a few times with the player cutting on the left side.

As the player stops to receive the ball but notices he wont receive it, he instantly thrusts forward with great speed without ever regaining momentum; the animation is poor. It's completely nitpicking and obviously there couldn't have been a worst video to show the game, but I'm not liking some things I've seen so far.

It looks slowed down but these are created players in the Draft combine, if these players are moving slowly, how fast will an NBA guard move in the game? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Nice find on the video, but I have to hold my judgment on what I think about the game. Just waiting on some actual 2k10 footage not the combine

well, those were just two of 2k9's main problems and that must say something that you noticed they tried to address them in such a short clip. Again, not alot to judge but enough to notice a possible change in their approach imo.

Thanks to the original poster for the link..

Its clear that a lot of people are simply burned out on the core gameplay mechanics of 2K basketball. Those folks should probably just pass on 2K10. Coming off of what was most likely their most profitable version ever, there is no logical reason for VC to have made any radical changes to their on the court play. Anyone expecting or even hoping that they did so will be seriously disappointed.

And yet their most 'successful basketball title' was extremely poor in gameplay mechanics and exploits. The competition was just that much worst.

I see spacing guys and i love it.We all know that an improvement in this area will have a major effect in gameplay.I see open court, the court compared to 2k9 looks huge in my eyes.

Player models look great as usual... didnt like that hook layup animation at 1:15 though

# 49 DaWolf @ 08/15/09 05:29 PM
I think it looks bad. I see sliding I see akward running, jogging animations and I already hated in 2k9 that a missed layup always just touched the front of the rim. That was so awful

BUt Help D and spacing SEEMS so be better,.

Come on man!He has 3 defenders on his face. That's real life basketball. When your layup is under heavy pressure the ball barely touches the rim.

if you listen carefully i think it was partially blocked as well...

The problem is that the missed layups in 2k9 were ALWAYS short. Im talking about the rim physics here. I wanna see some bad shots go wide / dont even touch the rim..

Maybe its just something that only bothers me but I think that looks and feels terrible.

I think you guys are astute enough to know that this is not final 2K10 gameplay code, it physically can't be. This game needed to be done in early July while we have until mid-late September for the full version of the game. That being said, you'll see the core changes to the game (spacing (which makes a big difference), mechanics, etc.).

It's a very fun experience that brings new gameplay to the table (the game plays totally different than what you are used to as you are player locked to your player). If you take it for what it is (it is NOT final 2K10 gameplay), then I honestly think you guys will really enjoy it. More than anything we've put out, this game rewards fundamental basketball and punishes me-first cheeser basketball. There is a learning curve for people who play a certain way, they are going to struggle at first.

Only 11 more days...

Good to hear that man.

Nice to hear that spacing is officially looked at

Really there was a lot to like about the video. You had JD playing schoolyard and failing. His team only had six after , 6 minns, the pace was improved. I'm just worried that we are seeing the real NBA players at the combine then when 2k10 drops we are going to get the super mutant demigods, named after NBA players.

As much as I tear down NBA 2K9, this is the reason I decided to pre-order NBA 2K10. You guys have done more for sim basketball than anyone else.

By providing Draft Combine you're conditioning a part of your fanbase that tends to play the game as if it were NBA Jam while simultaneously appeasing the simheads out there. It may (hopefully) or may not teach people to play correctly resulting in a better online experience - but it certainly is very clever.

I don't know why VC always lets this happen to them. Even though this is as close to an official video as we have seen leaked, they always have some random people either from other countries or on youtube leaking videos.

The passing looks horrible at 1:15(the defender didn't try to steal the bad pass).
although you guys seem to make effort to the dribble move but there are still "ice-skating" (at 1:21 and sometime the defender move weird).
At 1:23, the computer are stupid enough to using his left hand to dribble(bad position)while the defender is on his left hand side.
at about 1:41,Dupri should use his right hand to shoot instead of his left hand(it's a tough tough shot becos his left hand is just in front of his defender).

and at last, close shot seem 2 easy to go in(just like 2k9)

I don't remember, did 2K9 have finger tapes? Because it seems like it's on 2K10. And by the way, it looks like the player's fingers touch the ball now when he spins it.
