NBA 2K10 News Post

Gamespot has posted their first look at NBA 2K10.

Quote:
"The first time you hit the court in NBA 2K10, something might look a bit different. Yes, you'll notice things like the improved player likenesses, including animated faces, better skin textures, and greater lighting effects. But you might also notice a sense of space on the hardwood that simply wasn't present in previous iterations. As developers put it to me, that's because the proportions between player size and the floor had gotten a bit out of whack in older games, resulting in players that were slightly larger than in real life. The team took a look at all of the player models in NBA 2K10 and made size adjustments across the board, with the result of having a slightly more open feel to the play on the court.

Of course, correcting player proportions is just one of the issues addressed in this year's game. As gameplay producer Rob Jones told me, the team wanted to address animations in a comprehensive way this year. To that end, Jones said his mo-cap team captured something in the realm of 9,000 animations during the mo-cap sessions for 2K10. And while not all of those animations were entered into this year's game, a good chunk have either replaced older animations or been added to the game. As he put it, if an animation is pre-NBA 2K9, it had less than a 50 percent chance of making it into NBA 2K10. Part of that new animation philosophy had to do with providing further definition between players. Naturally, a point guard will have access to a different set of moves than a massive center, but developers didn't stop there. They also wanted to capture the differences between how a 7-foot player moves from how a 6-foot-9-inch player gets around the court. As a result, Yao Ming will move like Yao (assuming he ever plays again, that is), Nene will move like Nene, and Steve Nash will do his thing."

Sounds great. Very, very excited about the career mode. Been waiting for that for years.

Now, my main question. Have they addressed player movement, aka sliding? That's vital, imo.

I may be alone on this one but if 2k9 was an OKAY game then I have some faith in 2k10........But im excited for this "My Player" mode. I've been waiting for something like this since NBA Shootout. So I hope 2k gets this right.........What I'm hoping for is stuff like signing agents, asking for trades,interviews....stuff like that.

Wow man, I thought Dleague would be a stretch this year...but man lets go.

As long as this game doesn't ruin anything major this is going to be nice.

5 on 5 with created players sound nice, but the last time I tried to go on 2k with 5-on-5 it lagged out...so hope they aren't just saying it to say.

Other than that, love what i'm hearing.

If 2K improved on the defensive logic, the sliding, and the AI, it would be hard for me to slide over to Live just yet. But if they slip up in any one of those three, I'm jumping ship lol.

2K's feature list is looking impressive, need the game play to back it up.

It would be nice if they would give control all the teams in Assoc. mode. That way the trades during the season can reflect the real NBA.

It's like 2K read my mind and made a video game out of it. D-League integration is finally here!!! I've been saying this in the wishlist for years!!!

I'm also loving the fact that the player models will be smaller. Hopefully, this will force players to actually play basketball and use real basketball strategy and not just turbo, isomotion, drive to the basket in online play.

"You wanna stop my drive to the basketball? Swish! In your face Charlie Murphy!!"

Couldn't you do that in 2k9?

Sounds like 2k hit a home run with this one!

Nope, you could resign from your team and manage any other one, but you couldn't control all the teams. If you wanted to make a trade among other teams to mimic real life, you had to do the 3-team trade thing.

2K11 will probably have a Career Mode Reality Show. You'll be able to send text messages online to decide who's staying and who's going home...

Yeah man I feel the same way.

I hope Dleague is in association, makes sense to be of course.

I love the thing about the turbo, hope it works out perfectly.

Im not convinced this is the best way to do it.
Yao Ming and Rip Hamilton ... Let's see IRL who needs a breather first. I may be misunderstanding your point though

Also, you bitin my style

Lol! Live will have "Be the Official" mode. Run up and down the court calling bogus fouls!

Its in 2k9 already. You can actually resign from your team, move to any team and back to yours to make trades and adjust salaries (if needed) to match up the trades costs and cuts of real life.

So far they have addressed almost everything that has been criticized. I guess they wanna deliver the knockout punch to Live this year lol.
