"I am really looking forward to seeing how the spread out ratings affect the game. It makes the strengths and weaknesses of each team apparent and depth becomes more important. Users will have to strategically consider each team’s personnel. It should really open things up with the games better resembling what would be seen in the NFL."

youre probably right...im an NFL junkie...and i would just hope that the only NFL game available would have an accurate representation of the talent in the league...maybe im just a dreamer

I'm thinking it's going to allow for true subbing for specific situations. If they are in fact spread out ,each player regardless of overall will have their own areas of strengths.
So possibly instead of always just making sure your hightest rated overall player is in the game, you'll have to dig a little deeper.
So there may be times you actually have a player rated a little lower overall that simply fits the situation (or team philosophy) better..

That's how how looking at it anyways.. Hope I'm right.
I hope you're right too, that would add alot more strategy to the game which would be great imo.

And i think everyone is focusing too much on the actual number ratings. I cant sit here and criticize the ratings because i dont know how they actually play. Just my 2 cents.

now, if you can just explain to me how a 4th rnd rookie LBer has a higher speed rating than every corner( at least 1 of whom ran 4.3) on the roster, and a receiver known for his speed(also 4.3 guy)
how is this possible?? and how/why the heck are people defending this nonsene.???
and understand, this is just my team ive looked at .. its probably messed up across the board

Not sure if anybody mentioned this but they did say before that speed is all relative. Pat white at 87 speed i believe it was is going to be slower than a corner who has 87 speed. It's done differently by positions, from what i understand. Some confirmation from Ian would be nice but i swear i've heard them say this. And it would make sense because for example:
Vince young 85 speed, 4.58 40 yard dash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn_Fu...eature=related

Jared Cook 85 speed 4.5 40 yard dash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saxhQG9Smhk

Nick "Why did you cut back" Harper 80 speed 4.58 dash time
LOL damn nick harper doesn't really have any highlights but i'm sure you all remember him in the colts steelers playoff game.

I knew comming in to this season that the Cowboys WR's were gonna get no love but geez Patrick Crayton is rated a 73 and Steve Smith of the Giants is Rated a 76.

Steve Smith = 57 reception 574yrd = 10.1 a catch
Patrick Crayton 39 reception 550yrd = 14.1

Not to mention that crayton has put up these kinds of numbers for the past 3 years and this is past year that steve smith has ever done anything.

Ian tell me you will fix this. i dont care if crayton goes up or Smith comes down but this is just wrong.

Crayton is slightly underrated rated but he is a punk and I could care less lol. Don't lower Smith this isn't a competition it's about giving players the ratings they deserve. Smith is a 76 IMO.

For Giants fans I haven't heard anybody say anything about Dominique Hixon I mean he is pretty fast and was pretty solid last year, he is only a 70 I think his rating should be higher.

Thats my point how are they comming up with these rating if not by the preformance throught the season all three of these players should be rated pretty much the same, but yet there is quite a bit of difference between there ratings.

I'm shouldn't the guys that have been in the league and produced consistantly for a few years be rated higher initially then a guy that come out put up similar numbers but for only one year.

fo the cards i wonder why wilrey fontenot(a guy who probably wont make the team) is higher than greg toler(who some call the next DRC) and ralph brown who played great down the stretch.

and Leinarts rating just makes me sick. If he started he would be in the 80s.

I also think jerheme urban and early doucet should be a little higher as well. doucet was hurt all year and looks to have excellent potential.

If that is so, why is Ricky Williams so slow. Last season he looked faster then ronnie brown.
But, Ronnie is 91, and Ricky is 82 WTF.

Only a few complaints with the Vikings.

Chester Taylor - For real only a 78? Tahi is equal with him? I thought Taylor would be 80-82, he could start for almost any other team and do a solid job.

Madeau Williams - Lower than Tyrell Johnson, how did they get that? He was quite good once he came back from injury, certainly think he isn't worse than T Johnson.

EJ Henderson - Thought he would be higher, although he was lowly rated in Head Coach also, does Donny Moore just not rate the guy? Id have to think that is the case. Thought he would be around 84.

I'm predicting that Tom Brady will go from 97 to 99 verrrrry quickly.

# 72 marcoyk @ 06/15/09 12:25 AM
WOAH!!! Ray Lewis is a 97?! That's a little high for me, especially because he's seven points above Terell Suggs!

He should still be a 99 but so many cry babies put pressure to lower him, and yes it will be fast for him to be back to 99.

I completely agree with you especially about Toler, at least they have his speed pretty high, which i was worried they wouldnt get right. The only thing i disagree with you on is Doucet. He didnt play last year and from what i hear isnt looking all that good in OTA's, even though they arent the best indication. I hear Lance Long is actually impressing and outperforming Doucet, mainly due to Doucet being quite inconsistent. So basically i dont have a problem with Doucet's rating.

how is it not?...the Saints have given up 29 sacks over the past 2 seasons combined, fewer than any other team

I'm stoked about these new ratings!! You can actually tell where your team has holes now!! before it was like... ok .. no starters below an 85... My team looks good to go... now it's like.. holy cow... I got a couple 60 something starters... and some low 70s.... It's time to get some better talent !!

Real good.....Almost as good as my Eagles, whose worst lineman is still higher than your second best.

Toler is very raw and Ralph Brown (who I think should be a tad higher) is a scrub despite his good play down the stretch.

Disagree about Urban. He's rated right where he should be. If it was me, I'd probably have him lower.

Leinart is disappointing, but it's better being rated 62 like the initial reports.

That doesn't mean he has 4.3 game speed. Larry Fitzgerald caught plenty of long balls.
