The latest Madden NFL 10 blog is online. Letting the "Wildcat" Loose.

Quote:
"Throughout the season we have witnessed many different teams use variations of the Wildcat, but no one used it more effectively and extensively as the Miami Dolphins. In the Dolphins version of this offense, they placed running back Ronnie Brown at the “Quarterback” position. They then lined up running back Ricky Williams at slot receiver, and often times brought him in motion to either receive or fake a handoff from Brown. The Dolphins also use an unbalanced line by moving the left tackle over to the right side of the formation and lining him up next to the right tackle. The Tight End moves down to replace the left tackle and is still an eligible receiver because he is on the end of the line and uncovered (You’ll see a good video example of this below) by another receiver."

Missing blocks happens. Believe me i know. But show me a video of someone in the pros, whos assignment is to seal the edge, yet they turn around and try to block someone that is already blocked. I'll garuntee you that guys not in the league or he played for the raiders.

EDIT: Just saw Ians post on how the logic of blocking was screwed up, so no worries for now

Helmet is still wrong on the dolphins (Im sure they know) and the Dolphins still need the dark blue/teal belts (I think they know too)

But the turn upfield by the tight end is bad, there is no momentum too it he is just able to turn on a dime.

It looks like double team blocking. But a verification would be great.

I can finally use Richard Seymour and Wilfork like they are supposed to be used!!!

Hey guys @ EA, on the topic of who should have some wildcat plays, please make sure that the Carolina Panthers have a few. They used a version of it in the 2008 season a little bit but DeAngelo Williams kept the ball most of the time, we didn't really pass out of it. It is in the "playbook" so to speak though. Please include atleast some Wildcat handoff plays.

Anyone notice on the TD it looked like he just bursted through the hole. But I bet it was just a nonsprint to a sprint. But it does look like he slowly accelerated.

Well, I hope that the blocking gets fixed, but its only half of the issue. The wildcat won't be right until the way defenders react to run/pass is addressed. Right now, this is a blog on handoff animations.

As I've said, I greatly appreciate the openness of the Madden team, and Ian in particular, but this blog doesn't tell me anything about whether the wildcat will work properly.

Nice Blog

Is there any way to get that pre snap shotgun stance for B-Roeth and others who position their back foot back a little for shot gun snaps?????????

Would be another little detail that would go a long way toward immersion

I think I saw a few new tackle animations, "fight for every yard" at the goalline. This game is looking sharp Ian.

I hope some Wildcat plays are installed into the Eagles playbook, not a whole lot, just some (like 6 or so). Although everytime I saw them run a Wildcat play, it never really worked out. However, with the additions of Maclin, "Shady", and Ingram, it seems that the Eagles would be more effective in running it this year since the personel seems to fit better. Maclin, Jackson, Westbrook, Booker, Curtis, and McCoy are ALL speedy guys alongside McNabb, who is known for his athleticism and with Ingram and Celek being the large-recieving kind of TE's that they are. There's huge possibilities of the kinds of combinations the Eagles can use all of these guys in different positions throughout the formation. Not to mention, their O-Line is lock this season which will allow TE's and HB's to go out on routes instead of stayin back to block and pick up another defender.

On the Madden footage, can you give us a break down of which ones are slowed down replays and which ones are running at the normal in game speed?

# 77 Azcardinal32 @ 04/27/09 10:07 PM
Is Pat White really number 20?

# 78 DreaIVIS @ 04/27/09 10:08 PM
Is it just me or does the game look much slower than their real life counterparts?

Is there going to be a game speed slider?

I know what I would like, I would like to adjust my Defense as fast as possible against this, the way it is now we will get killed by this, on CG I can set up my D right after breaking the huddle and be done before the QB gets under center, not so on NG...

The Wild Cat looks awsome also, I'll be useing it.

Well I didn't have any interest in the Wildcat formation, so the blog was not my cup of tea. However, I was hoping that I would at least get a glimpse of the game running with the normal gameplay camera. I understand why Ian shot the videos so tight, but it's disappointing nonetheless. I'll wait for next monday I guess.
