Madden 2010 News Post

EA has just posted another Madden NFL 10. This one takes a sneak peek at the Wildcat, screenshots included.

"Hello Madden faithful! This week marks a very big week across the Madden Nation in terms of news - gameplay footage, the cover athlete, and some feature / technology releases. What you might imagine is that is that we (the development team) are extremely busy trying to get the game in good shape for everyone to see. So since we don't actually have a ton of time to spend on the blog, and the marketing / PR folks will be releasing a ton of news about the game anyway, we thought the least we could do was just drop a few quick screenshots to showcase some new stuff we've added."

Could you just imagine if Mike Vick came back to the NFL and was put in a wild cat offense.. I think that would be the only place to put him.. insanity...

This makes me feel a little better about it being in the game:

our playbook gurus are going to follow up soon after that with a full blog detailing the Wildcat in Madden NFL 10 - its realistic implementation, it's usage, and even footage of it being run

Some of you guys are impossible to please. The game looks outstanding.

I can see why people complain about just plain black cleats once they are compared to the Dolphins real life orange-white cleats, but for the most part, this game looks like it will blow any other football game ever made out of the water. I am willing to bet the gameplay will be even better than the graphics.

As long as there are ways to stop it I'm excited for the addition of Wildcat.

You know everyone is going to use the Dolphin's playbook online just to have Wildcat plays.

Agreed. I mean it would be nice to have colored cleats in the game, but they've already made some big improvements as far as accessories goes so I'm not complaining. There's always next year people.

But I agree, the screenshot is amazing. The player models are highly detailed and quite impressive. With a little bit of tuning, this game is going to blow people away.

I can't imagine too many teams are going to have a HB with good enough THP and THA to actually make them worth it...

Now that the wildcat being in the game has been confirmed can any of the guys who went to the community day comment on how well tuned it is and how successful it is if there was any use of it by you guys?

Well that's why the ratings better mean something this year .

I just think on the list of things Bi****** about cleats is a bit it picky, the screens look very good.

.
I'll just give a summed up response to this. Thats what a Graphics/Visuals Department is for. Obviously there are more than a few who share my thoughts/wishes or there wouldn't be these threads and responses every year on OS.

Might not be your cup of tea, but I see no reason to feel wrong or ashamed for expressing something that many want in NEXT GEN Madden that was in LG.

Agree completely. DOF needs tuning.

It's about details and it sucks to see the same damn cleats on every player, makes them look generic an nobody is saying "Screw gameplay, I just want a variety of cleats", you're missing the point it's not about having one or the other.

And what about that argument "When do you ever look at the players cleats?" When do you ever look at a players facemask, or gloves, or visor? Why not make every player look the same, 6-1 250lbs, screw all that, it's all about gameplay, right?

I am very impressed with the way the players are looking. It appears that "toy" look is gone. Cant wait to see how the game looks when its running.

# 73 DearbornDolfan @ 04/20/09 03:54 PM
Not only is the logo too big, it's flat out wrong. The Dolphin should be centered over the sun, the way it's in the pics is how TD was aligned during the 70s. If that's wrong when the game comes out I'm going to go freaking ballistic.

EDIT: Btw, not too many teams have an RB or WR who can throw well. Ronnie Brown was a QB in high school and ran the option, which is why he's suited to the Wildcat.

# 74 xtoddx @ 04/20/09 03:54 PM
The small numbers on the shoulders are kind of irritating, but looks good other than that. Well, the sleeves don't look that great either. I say for a bonus Monday blog we get a model of the new Lions unis!

I just read dude aboves post about the logo, and wow that is terrible. How does that go unnoticed?!?!? It's hard to be optimistic about things when stuff like that is wrong.

agreed... it should be all about gameplay.. but then players couldn't all weigh the same because weight would actually mean something..

if you want customization, go get Midnight Club L.A

This is a football game, and Andy understands they have an art department, but for people to complain as much as they do about visors and different helmets, is ridiculous

This comparison right here made me change my underpants. I haven't got a good feel for the graphics until this comparison right here. The DOF does need some tuning, but this is a step in the right direction.

To be honest, Next-Gen Madden has had bigger problems than cleat color since Madden 06.
True. But this is what I don't get when I see responses like yours...how/what does this take away from the team that actually works on the actual physics and game engine?

This is my last response to this topic.

# 79 DearbornDolfan @ 04/20/09 03:58 PM
WTF, why are there lines between the major spokes of the sun? Did you guys just let something out of the bag you shouldn't have?

Thats the kind of thinking that got us here in the first place...cough cough madden 09 cough cough!!! J/K I care for detail, but just not as much as other people. I'm not going to bring up cleats every time there is a screen shot with shoes in them.

Not complaining, but Still lookin for them mouth guards though.

If that is jenkins in the M10 screen then maybe he is fixing to go to the double team since number 72 is staring someone down like he's going to go in for the kill. Hope there are double teams, From what it looks like its shaping up to be something great. Great screen shots Ian appreciate it.
