NCAA Football 10 News Post

EA has posted another NCAA Football 10 blog. This one covers camera flashes, field goal nets, Windsocks and swappable bowl endzones.

Quote:
"One small detail we added this year is camera flashes going off in the stands. The bigger the game, the more flashes will be going off. This will help give the bigger games that “big game” feel. We were able to borrow this from Madden NFL and are tuning the intensity of these now.

Field goal nets have been missing for too long, so we were sure to bring these to the current gen consoles this year. Nothing too exciting, but it brings a little more realism to the game. Another small detail you’ll notice are the wind socks on top of the goal posts. Want to add a challenge to the kicking game? Don’t look at the meter for the wind factor and use the socks instead."

When I talk about the game, I'm talking about NCAA 09 which has 120 teams. I wouldn't say that about 10 because it would be giving away whether or not we added more teams.

I'm pretty sure by a few years back you mean Fall of 2008, right?

I got it I got it I already said I won't be jumping to any more conclusions. I have heard other devs talk alot about 120 in reference to '10 though most notibly in the announcement for the bowl endzone art.

Is the Middle Tennessee endzone art the final version? That seems really bland, especially compared to their real art (the Blue Raiders logo).

I wasn't at the championship celebration. But I did notice the new fonts this previous season.

Not sure if you noticed, but in the bottom right corner, it says 'WIP - work in progress'

Just pointing out

Adam, just promise us the camera flashes don't get out of hand. It could get very distracting and take a lot away from the atmosphere if it's overused.

That's why I'm kinda worried about Madden actually... they seem to be blowing their load a little early:P

HAVE TO add team specific traditions.. and after that, i want to see my guys jumping around and run out together, even if that animation is the same for every team.. and while thats going on, i want a custom stadium sound to go with it. Camera flashes... i'd say only in BIG bowl game.. how often do u see a camera flash in a reg. season college game?

MOST IMPORTANTLY- Fix the Revolution helmets and add the main facemask that everyone has on a revolution (ex: Percy harvin) adding the Schutt Ion4D would be quite pleasing as well. Team color Visor stickers.. all these things would make me the happiest NCAA owner in the world

Without being mean about it, I'm really surprised you completely failed to replicate the font for Nebraska's endzones, again. I tried to let it go after seeing it in 09 for the first time, but seeing as you didn't fix it this time around... well, that's pretty frustrating. Of course, there are hundreds of far more important issues (GAMEPLAY) that will make or break 10, but this thread is about the content details, so I figured the endzone font is worth talking about.

The font Nebraska uses in the endzones is the same one used above the tunnel here:

It's a nice looking, original serif font. You apparently thought any serif font would do, and for the game used a really, really hideous font that looks like it came off the VHS cover of a really bad western movie:

The ironic part is, you actually nailed the font for the actual entrance...

...you just apparently failed to realize that the exact same font is used in the endzones. Very dissapointing.

Any chance Texas FINALLY gets their white cleats with their away unis?? Nice improvements BTW, games shaping up well.

Florida has only had the new endzone art for this past season so it has only been one year................they def need to give Texas white cleats for their away games

OMT, any chance we will be ale to change sock color to white when editing players??? im a Buckeye fan and sometimes we wear high whites or "tights" for cold away games N I think it would be nice if I could see that in th game

Babies i think you're being way too picky here those fonts look pretty similiar to me. keep in mind some of us can't even play with our favorite teams yet.

Though that it is indeed a work in progress, it could still be a tad bit alarming. I only say that b/c that's how the scenario played out last year in Madden: a few screens debuted minus refs, I then asked Phil, and he confirmed that there were indeed no referrees.

Not to say that applies here, but I just wanted to point it out.
