NCAA Football 10 News Post

EA has posted another NCAA Football 10 blog. This one covers camera flashes, field goal nets, Windsocks and swappable bowl endzones.

Quote:
"One small detail we added this year is camera flashes going off in the stands. The bigger the game, the more flashes will be going off. This will help give the bigger games that “big game” feel. We were able to borrow this from Madden NFL and are tuning the intensity of these now.

Field goal nets have been missing for too long, so we were sure to bring these to the current gen consoles this year. Nothing too exciting, but it brings a little more realism to the game. Another small detail you’ll notice are the wind socks on top of the goal posts. Want to add a challenge to the kicking game? Don’t look at the meter for the wind factor and use the socks instead."

Small things like these can really add to a game. Nice touches.

I feel like it would have been mentioned in the blog post if they were in. Looks like we may have to wait again.

All positive additions. Nothing I didn't expect to make it in though, so not thrilled... just satisfied.

I appreciate the information but am a little underwhelmed so far. I know a lot of people wanted custom end zones and auto throw but I would much rather have features like FCS teams and playable conferences and custom playbooks. I do appreciate EA listening to us and trying to bring some of those things to the game.

Seems like it would have been mentioned in this blog if it was. Hopefully it's in.

OMT,
I notice a lot of the same equipment from last year is in 09, will we have any new additions? And I believe Illinois has white and blue cleats, not white and black.

Well don't forget that most of the "big news" stuff comes out later on towards May. Right now they're putting out as many tid bits as marketing will allow.

Nice to see this in, not a game changer, but nice nonetheless

Nice find... these little things (although endzone art is a huge thing) really add to the overall experience. I hope they add even more nuances to help immerse us into the game.

I am completely satisfied for this week. I wish they would take out the kicking meter and make us use the winsocks or have an option to choose between kickmeter on or kick meter off making us use the winsocks for Field Goals

Looking back at those screenshots did anyone notice the time of day difference in the two Ohio State screens (progressive lighting)? It looked to be the same game but that can't be for sure.

They need to add the squib kick(i know i spelled it wrong). How is it the commentator tell you to squib kick and its not even in the game!

# 17 Husker_OS @ 02/26/09 08:03 PM
Sweet. Its the little things that'll keep you playing 4 months after the release.

What about bowl patches on the jerseys?

The idea is to release better stuff each week. You should feel underwhelmed this early.

I honestly dont recall seeing light blub flashes going off alot when i went to the Jags vs Browns game this year. Its a nice touch for big games on the kick off maybe but I always felt that it was out of place/overdone when I had the Lions playing the Rams on madden

Mad props for your graphics engineers for figuring out a simple yet complex issue. I never realized the nets were missing... lol glad they made it back in
