ESPN Videogames have posted their exclusive first look at MLB '09: The Show, including some new screenshots.

"Think A-Rod chokes in the clutch? Ever shout "Dodgers suck!" or yell "Drewwwwwww" when J.D. walks up to the plate? MLB 09 is about to bring out the crazed fan in all of us as not only can you record your voice screaming anything from "Where's Madonna?" to "we want a pitcher not a belly itcher" and put it in the game thanks to peripherals like the Rock Band mic and wireless headset, the fan yells will sound like your voice actually coming from the stands. You can even assign the recordings to be part of a chant and your voice will be put through a new process so that it sounds more like a crowd chanting "over-rated" and not just a single person yelling."

Thanks
I agree it had a rich stadium sound. I enjoyed it.

I'm planing to add old time players name rank and serial number in the Music walk up slot and if that echo sound was offered, that would be perfect.

Kolbe you scared Jim off now he's going to hide his "Pretty Head" under that colorful but practical hat of his.

Scooter...

You will need to download the LAME MP3 encoder to make the files into MP3s when you are done. It is really easy to use though and it works nicely if you want to record a line in our out as well. I've used it to record old cassette tapes. Speaking of which, I need to go back and finish up recording the tape I have of the 1964 NFL Championship that the Browns won and is the last major sports title in Cleveland.

Yeah I posted it here as well...

I am not huge into this, but all the people I know who do mess with this stuff, swears by these two free programs.

Good call out.
Ya I had to edit my team in season mode( the mets...don't ask why hehe) by lowering all sorts of contact edits that it made it more of a task than a game. And basically i played 08 using ONE team only coz I didn't feel like editing the whole 30 teams.

I rarely got games where I got pissed and frustrated by the opposing pitcher. I want that feeling some games where I face a pitcher and not necessarily a hamels or a santana type where I just can't hit. It'll make the games where we explode for 16 hits 4 HRs 10 runs that MUCH more satisfying.

That's why this legendary difficulty has the potential to make this game just perfect for me. Hopefully it does, so I won't be bothered by editing a whole team.

P.S- My season team this year will be the world F'n champions.....have never used them in season mode believe it or not....have used the mets or Padres since triple play days.

Are we going to see some brothers behind the plate this year? Minor I know, but would like to see more variety amongst the umpire crew

Also, I presume if there were rain delays, it would just simulate pitcher fatigue.

On a side note... am I the only person here who thinks that weather ISN'T in this year? I really doubt something like this would have been added although people seem confident that it is because of the fans wearing the specific clothing. I don't know, with all of the stuff they added this year, I really don't think there is a chance this got in. Of course, I know nothing and could be completely wrong!
i know u would probably be able to just skip by pressing a button but i wanted to know how many of you would actually sit through it. i mean people on here have been wanting rain delays so bad i wanted to know will u guys actually wait until the game itself resumes play. whether it be 5 or 25 minutes.

Actually the only black umpire was at first..... I nicknamed him "Woody"

The umpire at 3rd is an old white guy that I nicknamed "Pops"

"Woody" was pretty accurate on appeals on check swings but "Pops" was a total jerk on appeals and almost always rung me up....I'm glad he will be gone

That's right, MLB 09 The Show not only takes you down on the virtual field, your voice is featured inside the cyber stands shouting at your opponent's favorite players.

Anyone remember Earl Weaver basball for the Amiga. There was a sound editor and you could record created players names.

That would be cool if MLB09 had that functionality.

There was no rhyme or reason to check swings. It always seemed like luck of the draw. The check animations for the batters gave you no indication either.

I would also like to see contact made on check swings too. Along with foul tip outs.

Sure, check swings worked great. How they judged them may need some tweaking.

Count me in amongst the throngs (not things) of people here who are seriously in complete and utter dire straits wating for this game to arrive. I am amongst those people literraly owns a PS3 for this game, and the rest of my purchases are just fodder to justify someone actually spending that type of money on me (it was a gift last year). All of that stuff that they added sounds awesome. and now i only wish that they didnt trade Heilman becuase i was all set to record about 11 solid minutes of me and all my Mets fans booing at the top of our lungs into a microphone so when he came out I would feel like i was at Shea. Oh well. March is slowly getting here.

I dont have time for games anymore, so much so that a co worker asked what game i wanted for the holidays last week and i said how about a gift card so i can pre order MLB 09...NOTHING ELSE MATTERS NOW...just the countdown!!!

Hey Mike, guess which word series winning left handed pitcher will be receiving a "wayward" 94 mph fastball right in the earhole courtesy of Mike Pelfrey as soon as i receive my copy of MLB 09?

I need to feel better about my life as a sports fan, and Hamels will be my first act towards that...

# 254 biggerboat @ 12/22/08 11:46 AM
For us Manage Only guys, you think that is still going to be in 09? Hate to think it would be dropped.

Losing a game on a bogus check swing call is one of the most frustrating aspects of The Show.

My exact sentiment!!!! HALLEJUIAH

This was my single biggest gripe with this game. Just hope it works as advertised

Was not talking about the actual function, that worked fine. The calling was totally random. All the check swing animations are basically the same and sometimes it would be called a strike and sometimes it would not.

# 258 PhantomPain @ 12/22/08 01:17 PM
I would love to have a check swing, ump decide the fate and then an "over the batter" replay where you can see the plain was broke and therefore it was called strike, or not broke and called a ball, and then only on occasion have it very close and it go one way or another.

But you are right concerning at least '08s check swing, check the ump, and it seemingly be completely random. I don't mind the blown call here or there on really close ones, but I would rather have confidence that it would be called correctly. There are only so many times I can fool my mind into it being a bad call
