This is the worst impressions thread ever. That's why we can't never let you PS3 dudes have nothin' Hopefully things go back to normal after this "PS3 gets it first" aberration.

Just FYI, the R2 adn L2 triggers still do the size up dribbles. I just ISO'ed Kobe with 8 seconds left against Ray Ray... and hit a buzzer beater to win the DEMO game 14-11... it was nasty.

Can you guys change the game speed on the demo?

This is easily the best 2K yet. I am most impressed with the MOVEMENT, which ironically was my major complaint when watching the videos. I'd like to see how the XBOX 360 demo looks in contrast to the PS3(I think Pared mentioned that the 360 version looks a bit cleaner). The words on the sideline (Boston Celtics) do look fuzzy, ala some of the court graphics in college hoops 2K8, but its not much of a focus as the gameplay is very engrossing. Other than some of the court graphics, everything else graphically looks very impressive.

A few points:

--The new lockdown feature seems like more of a risk reward system, and by no means is overpowering.

--Interior defense thusfar is very solid, I love the collisions as well

--The midrange game is 'easier' this year(didn't have a problem with it in 2K8)

--Animations are very smooth, overall gameplay is very tight.

--Fastbreaks are BALANCED. Players like Rondo are hard to catch; transition defense still though, is very solid

--Tried the pick and roll a couple of times had mixed success; it seems like better passers can acheive this with greater success

--The fullcourt passes no longer have the laser accuracy of the past

--The fast inbound pass and fastbreak all game strategy thusfar seems to lack the same success as experienced in 2K8.

--Ball physics have been improved... the ball does not go THROUGH players anymore(Lead passing I think has been balanced with this simple fact) ...I've seen a pick and roll pass bounce of Bynums foot, another off balance pass sail out of bounds, nice effects.

Very impressed thusfar.

The demo doesnt let you do anything really except change teams. Also iv tried to throw up an ally oop 4 times and the cpu picked off the pass all 4 times

Now, now, you can read the controls (more than half of which you can't use ) too.

How do you actually use the lockdown? I know that you can switch between shading left/right, and loose/normal/tight with the right stick, but then do you have to hold the L2 button all the time? Or if you set the lockdown to tight and then release the L2 you will still be guarding him tight?

Sorry, didn't play 2k8.

Yeah, how do you throw alleys? I've tried... but don't know how.

Hold R2. To come in close, flick the stick toward the ball carrier, away to give them space. To shade, flick the stick left or right. I haven't noticed if that resets, my gut reaction is that it doesn't until you switch player control or the player you guard.

As far as Alleys, it must not be L2 + R2 and X because it doesn't work that way anymore, or the whole system is less wide open.

Like I said earlier, the game looks rough. If you were able to see the 360 version you'd see the difference. It's not slight. It's noticeable.

Anyways, glad you guys are enjoying it.
what a suprize, another multi-platform game looking and playing best on 360. One day ps3 owners will figure it out

1 qtr but there is a rematch feature at the end of it so you can keep cycling.

I don't know why they make these demos so bare bones. It's not as if bball fans are going to be content with one exhibition game, regardless of how many features there are. If they had their thinking caps on, they'd have made it multiplayer. Imagine having 1 qtr of multiplayer fun and then going to the demo screen?

People would be so hooked they'd have to buy it. Has Nino Brown taught us nothing?

Hold down L2, and then move the right stick to switch between the different quadrants represented by the lockdown icon. You do need to keep it held down though. Plus, you can only reach in lockdown mode when you are playing the opponent close.

Understand...but don't get me twisted..2K has way better animations in my opinion and the little interactions are great..it just seems like its a little boring..I'm still playing, having only one quarter does do the game justust..so I'll buy try and see if its what I think it should be...I am a 2K fan first, but just like the fact the EA at least stepped it up this year..
