Lowering the sharpness just one notch on my TV did WONDERS. It's absolutely beautiful now. Didn't even think to do that. Smoothed out the small little jaggies I was seeing. game looks REALLY nice.

I don't know how to do any dribble moves though. Def need help with those. Not like last years version I don't guess.

Kobe dunked on Ray Ray, and went back and dusted off his shoulders, it was funny as hell. Just smirked and brushed those shoulders.

Game is pretty sick though. Saw some NASTY plays thus far. The blocks are sick, and I've had KB24 pull off some just straight up sick things.

Stinks that there are no plays though, and no replays.

Overall, I'm definitely enjoying it.
Are you running the game in 1080p?

In order to do this you have to uncheck 720p and 1080i from the XMB. 2K supports 1080p but goes to 720p anyway for some reason so you have to force the PS3 to run it.

It helps in 1080p for the jaggies.

Same here. Sometimes I do highly effective dribbles to blow by a guy but have no idea how I did it.

To all the people talking about the Iso motion controls, I have a feeling that they are very limited in demos. From what I remember last year in the 2K8 demo it was very noticeable that you could not complete a lot of the dribbling moves. Maybe because this is a demo, the 2k staff left out some of the iso moves like they did with the subing, running plays, watching replays, or changing camera angles.

The full version should be a little easier to do most of the iso moves.

Iso has really changed where you have to use the modifier/turbo to pull off crossovers and change hands. What I find to be great is the post moves and triple threat moves. This game is going to be the closest representation to real simulation basketball we have had in a long time. The animations are second to none the only game that come close to this in animations is the The Show.

I had one scenario when Garnett was mismatched on Fisher and when I banged him in the post he fell. When I went to the basket to dunk on him he grabbed my leg as he was on the floor. I made the basket and they showed a cut scene of Garnett talking smack to the Lakers as he went to the line.

will there be sixaxis FT's in the full version?...in this demo I had to use the R analog

I'm not feeling the ISOmotion in this game. I only played it briefly because I was watching the MLB playoffs, but I couldn't pull off anything. I hope that's just a demo problem. The game's animations are improved, but I did see the ugly hook shot from behind the backboard animation... in my opinion that should of been removed from the game. I also saw the arms rotating in a complete circle pass glitch.

But my biggest gripe so far is the lack of responsiveness with the ISOmotion.

sorry with the late response... I couldn't stop playing... Let me say this... after a while the jaggies became less noticeable... I guess I got used to it...the faces this year puts last year to shame thus making the look MUCH MUCH better... not to mention the better lighting, arenas, crowds.. smh

My Impressions:

THIS GAME IS BONKERS!

I have to get used to the controls and isomotion since it feels brand new... and my crosses aren't coming out when I want.. but my spins are

The animations are stepped up like crazy... running and swiping at the ball from different angles give different animations... no more stopping to swipe... everything is in stride which is EXCELLENT... the stripping animations are just AWESOME.. I was Rondo and stripped Fisher (hit the ball to one side, and get it on the other for a fast break) that resulted in a nice 2 on 1 fast break with me scoring...

i'm LOVING the driving contact... it's a lot more authentic now that u can drive to the hole, get beat up, and land on the floor sometimes resulting in a foul and sometimes not... makes the game more organic (as Sage said to me earlier)... The layups in traffic are just GODLY! Ray Allen is always moving off the ball cutting baseline to the rim for me.. and sometimes I can get the ball to him cleanly with him taking one of those lil layups under the hoop.... GREAT STUFF! The "draw the foul" animation from 2k7 has made it's return, and it looks nice.

The arena atmosphere is AMAZING!!! The crowd sounds GREAT... things going on the court sound GREAT... hearing the balls get blocked, hearing the players grunt on dunks, when they get hit, etc... hearing players call out to each other on the court.. it's just AMAZING... I used to give the nod to Live overall in sound just because it always sounds authentic to me.. but 2k just took that 3 steps further and it's just great.

I love the camera angles the CPU gets on fouls... it mimics the real life NBA more than 2k8 did.

The CPU AI even on this default diffuculty is nice... Odom caught a nice alley oop on me while cutting baseline... this game is just great.

Same here. Tried the Live demo and thought it was okay but this really blew me away. There are jaggies but it's not too bad. I really noticed them on the loading screen. Somebody earlier mentioned the players had "weight" and they feel like they do. Plus my first game I think I scored all of 4 points but I loved it. Watching Kobe drive to the basket and score was so cool!

yeah ... that sounds about right... and the demo size is small so they prolly left out some stuff.

Wow, Kobe's free throw routine is nice! I can't believe they put his "wipe both hands on his chest" thing!!! (which he does every time in real life)

By the way, anyone else on standard 480i noticing the Boston Celtics center court logo being blurred?

I hope this is the case.

These are my impression based on the demo:

1. To me i love the isomotion!! Its not a unresponsive as last year. Like the guys said though there is a learning curve. The new moves are very nice though.

2. The players have weight to them again. That was my biggest gripe I had with 2k8. You can finally take a charge! I have already saw a charge called in my brief time with the demo! I cant remember if i had even one in 2k8.

3. You can defend your basket!! This is huge for me because if you cant get any stops other than steals on defense, the game will turn into a score fest. I like that if someone drives my lane, i can attempt to stop them and make em' earn the points from the line!

4. I saw the real time injury! I fouled Paul Pierce on a breakaway with Odom. Pierce landed wrong on his knee. He began to roll around on the ground for a few seconds grabbing his knee. His face showed that he was in pain. Then Garnett came over and helped him to the bench! All of this was in real time!

5. Shooting is Improved!!! They still gather there feet before shooting, but the hitch that was in 2k8 is removed!!! Shooting is almost perfect!!

That's about it. I need to play some more to see if I notice anything else, but clearly its just a demo, so i wont get the entire feel of the game until Tuesday, but so far its the BEST BBALL GAME I HAVE PLAYED besides actually playing. Hope these impressions help calm some of you who still cant play the game yet. Sure its just a demo, but its better to feel the game yourself, than to have to rely on vids.

I admit, I was really hyped thinking Live was gonna challenge 2k for the crown this year, and while i am still purchasing both on day one, based on the demos; IT AIN'T EVEN CLOSE!!! Seriously, 2k was and still is the best Sim out period. Is it perfect? NO! But is it close? ABSOLUTELY!

Its funny to hear all these PS3 players talk about how irritating it is to use the Right analog stick to shoot free throws, well us 360 users have had to use that the last couple of years. Its better to use the R stick because to me its more realistic and challenging.

Glad the PS3 has finally converted though!

OH MY DEAR LORD.... I wish I had a camera set up for the last Kobe move I pulled off. You use agressive modifier and turbo for ISO I believe, or else it's been working for me. I'm pulling off some nasty moves. I just did the Jordan dunk with KB24 after shaking Rondo on a fastbreak. He decided to pick me up at the 3pt line, tried to foul me, and I spun by him and went in for the straight Jumpman dunk. It was insane looking.

I dont know, but after playing the other two games I just cant play this game, it looks too ugly to me, full of jaggies, player models and faces are really bad, they looks like plastics figures, gameplay is good as always, but not enought to guarantee another $60.00, we can have the same for less than $10.00 on 2K6 / 2K7 / 2K8, this game was impresive 3 years ago, now it looks like is starting to show the age, I just dont get it, how a game that looks amazing can get worse instead of better? the court looks like a kids court or something or the players are too big for the court, but something is wrong with scale, on the positive side the game has an incredible attention to the little things and details.
