as usual, there are some of u who are complaining and use ridiculous meaningless excuses to back up your claims..
i agree that the ratings of many many players are off, but to whinge because [example] lebrons perimeter D is b+ or something is silly.

steals probably has a big part in the perimeter D grade, something which lebron is very good at..

i really like the fact that 2k9 has graded categories now which would be based on the accumulation of attributes within that category. who cares is its a half mark or so off your opinion on what he should be graded..

i absolutley cant wait to get into these edits and re do the roster...i cant wait..
every year since 2k, its been a hobby of mine, and i really enjoy the time it takes to do it.
and the great thing is, 2k9 gives us the oppurtunity to share rosters, and the O.S has a great community of educated and passionate nba gamers that will improve these rosters for all of u who dont know or care to do them.
there will be a wealth of solid more accurate rosters to download within days of the games release.
so who cares about if the default ratings are off...
this year, its a non issue for everyone! not just those with transfer kits..

BINGO!!!! This is what many seem not to understand. The ratings are not solely based on prior year performance, but they are heavily based on those statistics. Superstars seem to be the only exception to this rule, whereas track record is also taken into account.

posey 84, kirilenko 80? even though ak47 struggled last year i would always pick him over posey... and rondo at 83 IMO is high.. champs do get a lot of love... lol..

Kobe at 2003>>> now IMO, but he's still the best player in the league...

Because his prime years(25-33) was with the Sixers......

What does Shaq have to do with anything?? Obviously Shaq was the best player in 2000.. but we're talking about today's lakers vs iversons 76ers/lebrons current cavs...

Anybody who watched both series would admit that the Cavs were a better matchup against the Celtics zone defense and strong perimeter play.. The Lakers outside of Kobe have defensive liabilities at every single position.. and remember the Lakers were also missing their starting center who was also their second best defender.

When did I bring up Shaq?
dude said kobe was carrying more weak teams than iverson.....what in the hell have you been smoking?

# 108 Stumbleweed @ 09/22/08 01:33 PM
Sweet, my dude J.R. Smith at 80 with an A for outside shooting and Kleiza bumped up to 76.

# 109 X*Cell @ 09/22/08 02:27 PM
Zo is an 82... Kurt Thomas is an 80...?

what the hell was this ratings guy smoking?

You guys think this is bad?

Ha. Go visit the 2k boards, then come back here to OS. It'll be a breath of fresh air.

All things pro basketball (the NBA forum or the 2K/Live forums) are always the worst on OS. Cept maybe the Madden forum around release time.

Can't argue w. that. Sooner or later OS may have to adopt a referral system to register.

Awesome Steve. much respect for these screens. Some of these ratings though...

# 116 23 @ 09/22/08 04:39 PM
How about the discussion of the forums going up or down be done in the neighbohood thread instead of this thread.

I have my own thoughts but i wouldnt mind contributing them to a thread where i wont have to move it or lock it for going too far off topic.

Why do i have to feel that, that is necessary, it is for the forums to stay readable.

I wasn't claiming that Brand should be rated lower, I just think that Bosh, still having a better season than Brand should not have had his rating hastily decreased. They should first of all avoid overrating players, and then if they have a slightly sub-par year they won't decrease ratings unless a steady decline in stats, play time is seen over a few seasons. Also, Brand hasn't been in the league much longer than Bosh. Bosh, since becoming an allstar has consistently put up over 22 pts and about 10 boards per game; I think that is a good track record. Has anyone ever thought that the reason his boards decreased slightly was because he had more help from players like Jamario Moon and Nesterovic. That doesn't mean he is any worse a rebounder for example. I would also think that by now Chris would have enough respect by now to be called a superstar/franchise player.

Using my own team as a means of comparison, if Manu Ginobili is a 91, Chris Bosh should be higher than a 90... similarly, if Tony Parker is an 88, Jose Calderon should be way worse than an 87. That rating is an utter joke.

I think that Tony Parker improved over last season and should be only slightly lower than Deron Williams (94) not 88, I agree with that point. I also think he is better than Ginobili. But I think Calderon deserves that rating, as a starter he averaged like 8 assists and 10 pts per game while having the lowest assist/turnover ratio in the NBA. He also greatly improved his shooting. Since players like Mo Williams and TJ Ford are rated 84, Calderon should be better.

yes, Calderon should be rated higher than them... that kind of logic is suitable... what isn't working out is the fact that TJ Ford is an 84 etc etc... I didn't go through all the screenshots, so these names with these high ratings keep surprising me when they pop up.
