Madden 09 News Post

I'm back now and wanted to relay some news - we found and fixed the Franchise freezing issue that some have been seeing and decided to delay the patch a couple of days in order to get that in. Major thanks to this community ...a few folks here on OperationSports actually emailed me PS3 Franchise files which allowed us to track the issue down much more quickly. You guys rock - as always!

The patch is now at our internal quality control group, and then on to Sony and Microsoft by (we think) Friday.

We are still targeting about 2-3 weeks from now for the patch to drop, and of course I will keep you updated as things progress.

Ian

Thanks for the update.

A few questions. They've been asked already, but I've yet to see an answer so I'll ask again.

1. What did you find caused the franchise freezing? Is it just a bug? Is there something we can do pre-patch to avoid freezing?

2. With the patch now fixing the freezing issue, will it still work on existing franchises?

I don't particularly want to start a new franchise. I did no player editing, so I'm fine with playing while I wait for the patch, provided my franchise won't freeze.

Thanks again.

Prove me wrong Ian.
If MS does in fact say NO to the free DLC, it would be a great move on Sony's part to allow it to try to help bring gamers over to the ps3.

Let me help you brotha, because your original wording is a bit 'combative', even if unintentional.

That's the kind of stuff mods are trying to eliminate.

You CAN voice your opinion, even if its not glowing about EA. However, you have to keep it civil just as you would in a business setting. It's not that hard.

Here's what you could have said:

"When I first heard about DLC I thought it was a great idea. At the same time, I was was a little skeptical. I was hoping it wasn't just a hyped feature that would never be made available.

So, when I didn't see mention of it in Ian's post I got a little nervous. Ian, do you feel we are still on track to get the DLC?"

Same thought, different wording. Hope this helps you in the future.

We are fortunate that both SCEA and EA people post here, answer questions here, and take suggestions here. I, for one, want to keep these guys here. They will answer the tough questions as long as we act professional.

A couple of questions. Is it neccesary to start your franchise over after the patch is released to avoid the freezing problem? I read in a release (I believe by Ian) that u wouldn't have to. And what about the lack of player progression for edited players? Do u have to start over for that? Or do u just lose that period of time before u had the patch? I'm willing to wait to avoid these horrible prolems. Just wanted to know. Oh well back to NCAA 09. HOOK EM' HORNS!!!

Any word on if they found out something about the lag and slowdown using the colts during games for the ps3?

I'm also wondering if I could start a Lions Chise right now and once the patch drops I can download it, but don't have to restart my Chise. Will the patch be effective on existing franchises? If not, then I'll just continue playing my NCAA 09 'Nasty. Thanks anyways for the update Ian.

Is the franchise freezing ocurring in Year 2 and beyond or is it in Year 1 as well?

And according to Ian, if we just play one game at a time and save the file, we should be safe before the patch drops?

What about the player progsession? I'm very concerned about both of those issues.

Thank you,

While I thought all of the original fixes in the 2nd patch were quite important to further improve the game, without the franchise freeze fix it was all useless to me, now I can enjoy the game in its improved state, so honestly, thank you.

I do not care what the score is...what length of quarters you are playing...or if your opponent is a "noob" ....you play, those top buttons will be buttoned. And casual Fridays are cancelled until further notice. All of those bad habits some of you picked up while with World of WarCraft will NOT be tolerated here. What do you think this is....some kind of game?.....

Can someone be so kind to tell me if, once the patch is realised, will be possible to download the patch into a USB key and then put it in my PS3 without connecting my PS3 to the web?
Let me know!
Thanks!!

No it is not possible. Its a system file. The patch is not tied in with a user profile. You will have to hook into the net to access it. I don't have high speed access either so I have to tote my ps3 over to my moms to plug in. Its a pain but worth it.

where exactly can you download the patch if it's available?

While running Madden and go online -
or in the Playstation Store??

have your PS3 connected to the internet and when you put the disc in for Madden, it will automatically prompt you to download the patch.

What the heck does this mean? And, since you quoted me, how is it related to my post?

Will the patch just fix Franchise freezing? Or will it also address other issues such as Robo QB, non-progression due to editing, and other things?
