NCAA Football 09 has received a mixed reaction thus far in the OS Community, which is of no suprise. Check out what Chris Sanner had to say about the game in his article Despite Flaws, NCAA 09 a Great Experience.

Quote:
"As it stands right now, NCAA Football 09 is a game which is extremely fun to play warranting a high review score. While there is just enough wrong with the gameplay out of the box to hold it back from receiving a 9 or higher, I would give it a score some where just below that mark if I were the one reviewing the game."

And I'm saying that this game is not fun for me because I expect for there to be some sort of gameplay that mimics football. I mean sure, this game has first and ten and a football, but other than that it's a bit sketchy.

Also, I'm not saying that this should be 2k5. I say 2k5 because that was the best football game ever made. Is it perfect? No. Will any game be perfect? No. Yet, the fact of the matter is that this game has too many broken parts to make it fun at all.

I'm sorry you have given up looking for realism and settling for a broken game with roster updates, but I haven't given up that fight. I think we ought to be treated better than what EA has been giving us. There is still a chance in Madden, but it's being pumped up like NCAA was, so I have my doubts.

Never settle for anything bkrich83, or anybody on here. If you do, you get NCAA 09

Agreed. And with that being said, the flaws in the game are certainly there. Pass Rush/Pass Pocket, Defenders maintaing leverage in zone coverage, defender reaction in zone coverage when no one is in their zone, the return game, etc.

Despite those probs, I still have fun with it. And that's the bottom line, and if they can fix those probs, that's gravy.

I also think I have gotten better in coverage by utilizing my players to their strengths a bit better in the secondary. The Press, MCV, ZCV attributes seem to play a pretty decent role.

For you, I assume. Which is fine, but for me, I have had a ton of fun.

I haven't given up anything, or settled for anything. Either I enjoy a game, and I play it, or I don't and I move on. It's that simple. No need to talk down to people who don't share your view on the game, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Right, you either like it or you don't. With my Xbox 360 probably a week away from arrival and Madden only 3+ weeks away, I might hold out on this game though.

I think it's worth a rental. I am going to go ahead and get the CE Madden, for the sole reason of getting Head Coach before September. Madden looks fun, but Head Coach is the game I really looking forward to.

I mean really, is it that hard?
If they did this, they wouldn't be reviewing the game before it comes out anymore.

Once again, the hateful whiners have hijacked another thread. The names are always the same too. Coincidence? I think not.
What are you, 15 years old?

I'm exactly .500 in a dozen online games so far, so I hardly think I "suck"

Tell me exactly how it is that I would "suck" If I call a defense, and as a safety or LB user, have my responsibilty blanketed, only to see leaks everywhere else, and my opponent just calmly sits back and laughs at the slow as molasses blitz that doesnt draw an drop of pressure, or my other defenders fail to cover any one else.

Then, when I get the ball, I methodically do the same thing back.

In a dozen games, the only pressure my defense has generated has been against morons rolling out into DB blitzes.

The front 7 has done NOTHING, and this is playing with teams ranging from UCF to Georgia.

I'd also like to add that offline Im doing fine. like someone else said earlier, its just a matter of getting comfortable with how the game works. I am getting good games, and Im just about to start my offline dynasty.

Online, though, all that goes out the window. The problems are much more magnified because you just cannot account for all of the weakness in the slightest.

I still don't get why so many of you are upset with what a reviewer says. It's one person's opinion. Everyone has different things they want out of the game. Some rate games higher for online play while others want a competitive CPU. Reviewers are also never going to trash a game, especially one from a large company that is giving them exclusive interviews and games before release date.

First of all for someone who says people are mistaken if they get more than .5 sacks a game that's just ludicrous... I have found ways to create pressure on the defensive front and have gotten roughly 3 sacks a game which feels right to me.

Also, I feel I'm getting some pretty realistic results from this game when playing against the computer. I'll have long drives or just break for a huge run or I'll go 3 and out at times. The computer has thrown deep bombs on me and sometimes completed them; it might not happen as often as in real life, but I have seen it on occasion, maybe once a game.

I think this game plays pretty well, and if anything is downright fun, and for people to bash others for enjoying it (claiming they are EA apologists) or claiming critics are not doing their job because they actually gave it a decent score, you need to realize not everyone agrees with the outspoken minority in these forums. Not everyone needs a perfect simulation experience to enjoy their video games.

I love it too! As a PS3 owner last years game sucked and I didn't even buy Madden (first time in forever)!!! My beef with this game is they still don't have the dang ball rotating in the right direction. A right handed qb's ball will rotate counterclockwise. That's just not right. I know its minor but replays look awful like that. EA, FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!

One of the most over-used yet idiotic agruments of all time. If you want to play arcade games, just play NFL street!

See, it goes both ways which is why that argument is so lame.

I agree with people renting this game first. Also, I have no problem with anybody enjoying this game. If you feel like you spent your money well, by all means enjoy your game. I'm just saying this game is far away from being worth the price when it comes to playing like actual football.

Seriously, some of you are having a cow over nothing.

As far as getting a life. Maybe you should heed your own advice.
Same here. I've never seen the robo qb before. And I get a bunch of sacks. Almost too much. Interceptions aren't an issue either.

No it doesn't, since when have they made NCAA Street? Lol, j/k, I see what you mean, but I don't want a true arcade game, or a sim. Ideally, I want a compromise between the two, and I think, for the most part, that's what I got with this year's game. But you're right, I would probably make a similar argument to someone who wanted pure arcade games, but I still don't see why my first point was incorrect. You want arcade, go play NFL Blitz, you want realism, go play for real. Why is that idiotic, I don't understand?

I love this game. I'm using Firktaf's heisman sliders as of now. I'm still trying to find my set and right now I'm thinking that heisman is the way to go.

Really? Really!? I don't believe that. Hell, there have been many videos posted showing robo qb in action. There was even one where GIOVANNI VIZZA had TWELVE SECONDS to throw the football in the pocket. That also against Missouri. You must either be taking on a team that has far too many screen passes, or you must have a different game altogether.

Do you really think that I care whether you believe it or not? I haven't seen it and I stand by that. This is not happening to me. With EVERY game that I get the ratio of glitches reported and glitches that I see is like 1/10. I am honestly not seeing the robo qb and all of the other stuff that people are complaining about.

It's idiotic because when you pay for a game, you expect some sort of realism with it. I don't know, maybe because I work my end off every day for a living, my dollar means more. I can't go out there and play when I'm supporting myself.

In any case, if this is fixed next year, you wouldn't know the difference, I would swear it to you. If it was fixed this year, you would still be saying how you just loved the game. For me though, I look into the details. This game doesn't satisfy that need, and if it means saving my money and buying a game that's worth the price, so be it.

I'm not angry with anybody here, I'm trying to prove a point. If you can't take off the rose colored glasses, I'm not going to force you to. For those who look at games objectively, I'm just trying to prove my point. That point is, the defense is busted, and this game is not worth the price.
