NCAA Football 09 has received a mixed reaction thus far in the OS Community, which is of no suprise. Check out what Chris Sanner had to say about the game in his article Despite Flaws, NCAA 09 a Great Experience.

Quote:
"As it stands right now, NCAA Football 09 is a game which is extremely fun to play warranting a high review score. While there is just enough wrong with the gameplay out of the box to hold it back from receiving a 9 or higher, I would give it a score some where just below that mark if I were the one reviewing the game."

I understand that some of the sliders seem to not work...

But one thing I have noticed is a lot of people have complained of a lack of a pocket in the madden and NCAA games of past, and now they created one, although a little to the opposite extreme, and people seems to want the D Backs to run wild again. Sometimes there needs to be stepping stones so that you can cross the gap... The gap in this case being the legendary football game (which may very well be this year's madden if it comes as advertised)

^^It is not about the db's not running wild anymore. It is the fact that they are clueless, can't cover certain routes and run the wrong way in coverage alot. I would rather have superhuman cb's than ones that belong in the special olympics. Also let's be honest the pass rush is broken. Watch this play and tell me otherwise.

That is North Texas online maintaining your so called "pocket" for 12 seconds against Mizzou's d-line with pass block at 0 and human break block at 100. The pass rush and pass coverage are broken as simply as that, don't know why people keep on defending EA for breaking three parts of the game: pass rush, pass coverage and punt/kick returns. To think this is the third year in this gen. Maybe we will get a great game by 2011.

If you improve your user skills then defense becomes a lot easier. Stop allowing the computer to make plays for you. Take control of the situation.

^^^Hmm really I didn't know you could control more than one defensive players. Oh that's right you can't. I normally play as the safety but if the other cpu controlled players like the cbs and lbs can't cover at all what good does that do. You can only do so much controlling one player.

I have haven't had the same issues on defense as everyone... I have noticed a ton of pick 6's to my dissapointment, but I have also had a lot of good defensive battles with low scores and low production from both the running and passing games on their parts.

I also have no proof in that video that the sliders are as you state. So for all I know you did the complete opposite trying to really beat a dead horse with your piont. Not to mention I've played plenty of games and gotten plenty of sacks, leading me to believe the system isn't as broken as people state.

If you would stop nitpicking the game maybe you could allow yourself to, I don't know, actually have fun? Try it against human opponents as well, it's an entirely different experience and takes away a lot of the issues. This game is solid, I don't care what anyone says. A lot more things are right about the game than the few things that are 'broken'.

^^^Let's see the majority of people feel the pass rush and pass coverage are messed up but you think your right and everybody is wrong even though your in the minorty.

Lets summarize the things that are either broken or messed up: Pass Rush, Pass Coverage, Sliders, Rosters, Glitches like the magnet catch glitch that are still in the game for whatever reason

That doesn't leave much.

If you want to be technical about it... in actuality you are part of a vocal minority. One of the biggest problems with internet forums are that people join together in anonymity and just start complaining about everything, somewhat warranted but not to the degree that it goes on.

The true majority are the people who don't give a damn about these technical errors and don't go to a forum to find out what other people think about a game. They make up minds for themselves and just go out and have fun playing.

You want a broken game go play MLB 2k8. NCAA '09 is very far from broken, and could have been something great if it didn't have some of the flaws, and yet it still is an awesome experience.

There are ALOT of people complaining about everything mgoblue has said and the big thing for me is the lack of pass rushing. There is no way in hell North Texas could pass protect againt Mizzou's DLine like that... and that ruins it for me.

It pains me to think I won't be playing some NCAA this year, especially since my Mizzou Tigers are finally a powerhouse team.

I work for my money, I expect my $60 to be worthwhile. I expect EA to put there best effort into the game which they clearly did not because most of these problems should have been caught as simply as that. I hate how people act like apololigists for companies like EA.

this game is nothing short of amazing. i am playing with North Carolina and this game is working wonders for me. i hope madden is just as good as this game is for me.

Once again, EA demonstrates how they can sell anything and there will be tons of people to defend them. I wonder if anyone would buy a brand new car with all sorts of issues but say something like "but it the end, it's a great car!"

You know, I was part of that group that believed that this would be the best football game ever, and that we would get a true experience. I remember back in 2004, that year's NCAA was the best ever, and I wanted that same experience. It's 2009 now, and it's taken far too many steps behind.

I love playing Defense, but this is terrible. You could put ten men in the middle, and the quarterback would still find somebody there wide open. Simming through it helps, but I want to PLAY defense, not just look at the bars go across the screen. There is no way to get to the quarterback (in fact, in the past five days I've only had one sack), and when you do get there he moves to another county to throw.

Offense would be fun if you didn't complete 85% of your passes. Combine that with a defensive AI that couldn't guard against a pee wee football team, and games become barn burners. I shouldn't have games with North Texas that go for 50 points.

Then combine that with a terrible online experience. EA Locker is broken beyond belief, and one of the major features that was supposed to revolutionize the game can't even be used. There is still major points of lag between games, and nobody plays sim football (although that ain't EA's fault per se).

I was going to buy this game, but I decided to rent it first this year, and I'm glad I did. There is no way I would spend $60 on a game that should have been in development for another month. This is sad too, because I used to love this game back when the developers cared. Now, since games like Front Office Football are better, I'll spend my money there.

I keep hearing that the game favor the offense this year, but so far my games have been interceptionfests with multiple defensive TDs in each game. Online I've struggled on offense but done very well with defense. Offiline, the CPU offense doesn't challenge my defense enough on AA.

Anyone who is claiming that they have little to no defensive issues, is a stone cold liar. Plain and simple.

This game is a defensive atrocity.

^^^100% agree

Is there a law that says you're not allowed to like a game made by EA?

I heard this saying once, "To each their own." It's quite clear that many haven't heard it before.

CH2K8 got a 7 from this site. They are saying that NCAA 2009 deserves an 8 and maybe better.
