to be honest im not sold on the presentation either way. im concerned with the announcer (hammond) bing put in what seems sega genesis video game quality, and ive not seen much else besides overlays. it doesnt seem like they went with TV style delivery but im waiting to see more.

But stop brining up that nonsense.

It was the greatest football videogame I ever played, but it wasn't perfect. Just as you accepted 2K5's faults (and I won't mention them), either keep playing it now or accept Madden for what it will be. It's your choice and your money.

This stupid conversation takes place every year. The only reason it's so strong right now is because it SEEMS as if Madden might finally be turning the corner.

But I don't think their current goal is to re-create 2K5. Hell, the pre-beta Madden looks better than 2K5 in SOME respects.

But there's just way too much focus on "what 2K5 did". And some of the requests that I have been reading are just way too nitpicky.

thats what I am saying.

These guys are upset because 2k is being mentioned in the Madden forum and being talked about what it did right. What I was telling them is that Ian asked for people to do that. Look at what happened when gang tackling was compared between the 2. EA has been able to take gang tackling to another level and thats because they are trying to equal what 2k has.

Exactly. As long as 2k5 and APF are being brought up to contribute to Madden advancing, it's good conversation. It's when people come in with hallow comments about how Madden will never be 2k5 or APF, that's when the problems start. Madden needs to borrow all the good from the 2k football series and none of the bad. Honestly that's all I've ever wanted.

im seeing some of the most constructive post comparing 2k to EA that ive ever seen here. you will always have a few pop in with crap, but last year everyone of these threads would be 80% flames by now, unless im missing something im seeing 80% constructive interactions with Ian. you must be reading a diffrent board if you think MOST have not been constructive with Ian.

Its been mostly civil discussions this time around, especially since Ian joined the forum.

I'm sorry, but these vids look pretty freakin ridiculous (in a bad way). Why, WHY, WHY, can the QB's move faster SHUFFLING diagonally than a defender can run in a straight line?

That just makes no sense to me. Not only is it not improved from Madden '08, but it seems that they made this faster.

I agree completely. It's one thing to have the issues that exist with the passing pocket, but to also have the QBs moving around like they're on roller skates just makes it all the worse.

At least we know this is going to be a focus of 2010. Doesn't help this year, but it's something.

The ridiculously slow progress on getting the QB mechanics straight since '06 should be inexcusable. Since the community leaders are touting gameplay light years ahead of what '08 was, I'm waiting to see some extended gameplay video

its funny how people are so hell bent on putting Madden in a negative light. Some of the things that people are criticizing the game for have been mentioned by Ian as not either being in the game or improved upon.

Instead of acknowledging that these things are the way they are and moving on, we continually hear about them. No Madden '09 isn't perfect, and yes there are things that we as a community would like to see in the game that aren't there or improved upon, but the game is going in the right direction and judging by all the guys that got hands on time with it from at the community days, its a hell of a lot better than '08.

So instead of criticizing the game for what we already know isn't there, could we focus on what is there and appreciate the effort and improvements that were put into the game?

I'm sorry, but this is some seriously BS logic.

Not only does the "QB dropping back like he's running a 4.4 forty" mechanic severely detracts from the gameplay, but it just looks plain hideous. If it's in '09, I'm going to slam it.....regardless if Ian is on this board or not. He needs to hear that QB play in his game is crappy, it's as simple as that.

Yes, it is. We still have quite a few inconsistencies in animation speed that we'll be working to improve in the coming year.

If you already know its not in '09, then why continue to slam it? Whats the point? And he knows that the QB play needs to be improved.

But do what you will. I just don't get it though. I don't understand what you hope to accomplish by pointing out what we already know isn't "fixed" in '09.

I don't get this. Are we still paying $60 for this game? Will it be discounted because Ian's team hasn't gotten around to fixing some crucial gameplay features? If not, then I believe I have a right to criticize it.

You have every right to criticize it. Like I said, I don't understand what you hope to accomplish by criticizing something that is already been mentioned as not being fixed for this year's game. I understand that you are frustrated by it, but I don't know how continous criticism is going to help.

But hey, if you feel the need to criticize it then by all means, knock yourself out.

LOL, well then, can I criticize the game without people getting on my back for it? Are you going to pay for my copy of the game for me? If not, than I don't see why you need to say something about me criticizing a game that I plan on buying.

nope, not going to buy you a copy of the game. And criticize to your little heart's content. I hope whatever it is that you hope to accomplish, you do. I'd hate for all this criticism to be for not.
