Ultimately, it's going to come down to in game AI and franchise mode for me. It's disappointing the gameplay looks more or less identical, but if the CPU AI is realistic, and franchise mode is fun but challenging and sustainable over multiple seasons, it will be a huge upgrade over what we've seen so far on the 360/ps3.

I've got a bad feeling though AI was barely touched (again), and once again franchise mode will be somehow bastardized. It would be nice for 09 to be an exception to the recent rule but I think if EA could have done significantly better in both they would have by now. With the removal of PC it is clear EA's new agenda is to only pay attention to the pinnacle of mainstream, and neither AI nor franchise mode make a dent in the mainstream as important attributes. It's strange, too, as it would have to be the only genre in sport that this is true.

one more thing

i like the QB back-stepping.....I've seen Brady do that countless times to avoid pressure

in 2k it looked goofy when trying to back up---u couldn't actually

And BTW, why is he even tippy-toeing? Pick up your feet Eli, and RUN!

Watch that in the vid at the 3/4 mark a few times and then tell me that looks like something you've actually seen a QB do in an NFL game. No QB tippy-toes 20+ yards backwards in a curl pattern and into the open backfield before tossing the ball. If he wants to get killed, or mocked and laughed at on ESPN Sportscenter afterwards, maybe...

no not 20 yards but I HAVE seen Brady step backwards (from center of field to 5-6 yards outside hashmark)

the point trying to be made was the stepping back animation VS a qb step back in 2k

go to the 1:23 Mark.....Brady will use that back-peddle step

Watch Rex Grossman when he drops back too far in the pocket.

It's kinda more of a backpedal then a dropback.

Usually a sack or a fumble.

1. Sure Tackle? It seems in all Madden games 95% of the tackles are one hit and done. No struggle!!! Just two hits, the defender hitting the offensive player and the offensive player hitting the ground. BORING! and not real football. Most offensive players are taught to fight for more yards and also attempt to fall forward.
2. No driving of the legs while being tackled and the fight for more yardage. 2K did nice work on this. Pressing the A button to fight the tackle and the defender doing the same to make the tackle.
3. QB animation and throwing variances is out dated. Every QB in the league throws and moves the same??? I thought it was IN THE GAME??
4. RB should be able to make an immediate football move upon approaching defenders. This pre-determine hit and tackle needs to stop.
5. WR catching animation variance.
6. CB,S, LB ball swatting and tackle variance
7. Real gang tackling. Two or more defenders actually making a stop.

To me, these changes will make a fun/exciting football game. I might have missed a few, but I am sure it was mentioned on this forum.

One good thing I noticed was EA took out the god awful slide animation. This was highly visible during kickoffs and punt returns. The returner would normally slide to the spot in order to receive the punt. Now they move realistically per the vid. Good one EA. Now just make the rest of the animation and physic changes and we might have a game. Ha!
That's a good post. I can see they definitely put in work this year on the overlays and such...

You can see there is something going on, even if guys don't like it. Completely different from other years.

Last year looked like a decent step up... this year looks better.

As for the complete roster lineup, I am thinking that the human player pressed a button to skip the complete lineup overlays. I can't believe that what was shown was it. I guess I'll have to find out for myself once the game drops.

And I am not sure what you are meaning by TV camera cut scenes. There were cut scenes that showed the players close up and a TV style replay within that video.
Interesting...well, when I say TV style cuts...I mean this...turn on a football game....after a play is over, there is a tight shot of a player running or walking back to the huddle, looking up at the scoreboard, etc...then there's a shot of the coach...on touchdowns, there's shots of fans going crazy. Not to bring in 2K5 here, but I think that they captured this pretty well.

Now I see what you are referring to. No, I haven't seen any of these types of shots in any of the videos released thus far. Hopefully, some of these will be added or unveiled in a video before the release.

They said they were adding camera cuts to the fans.

I personally don't like the graphics. it looks less REAL. it's more like the last gen versions... the grass looks too patchy...

I think they're just giving us a little taste of what's to come. This video was miles apart from the Favre "snow game" video.

Huh. To each their own. To me, this looks like they finally got the graphics looking next gen. Impressive.

That is a proper QB dropback...in Madden anyways. Try standing in the (non) pocket in Madden and see where it gets you.

Graphics are nice--but thus far the gameplay looks like the same old Madden (and that ain't good).

It's like you're eating poop and calling it gold.

I don't know what beef you have with me, but you really need to get over it. Your constant searching me out, making pointless posts such as this is getting old.

You've already admitted that you are in here for nothing more than to "rail", (was that the term you used?) the game and anyone who buys or supports it. Your trolling has been much appreciated, so please move on.
