The sun light on the field made it seem like the game was being played at 9am in the morning.

I hope those were not the final player models. Pretty much all the players looked too lanky. And Vince Wilfork DOES NOT have a wash board stomach. I hope that gets worked on.

Also,w hat was up with the starting line ups? Are those starting lineups or are they just showing the key players on offense and defense? If they dont show the full lineups its typical EA half arsing things.

Other than that the game looks pretty good in general. But I have a PS3 so I am always a lil worried that we will get shafted in some way again.

WOW! WOW! WUBBZY!
This pretty much has sold me(even though I was going to buy anyway) and the fact that the game is still a few months away makes it even more promising.
It actually looks like they care about their product this year listened to some feedback and made improvements!
Way to go EA! This brings back the excitement that has been lacking in EA Sports games for some years now.

Just curious, what parts give you that impression?

Yep!

Would be nice to see in HD. Looks pretty good so far. Like another poster said this *looks* like the best Madden I've seen to date.

I like the lighting, but I hope that they bring back progressive lighting and also make each stadiums shadows more realistic. Speaking as a R*edskins season ticket holder, they have a shadow that covers the home team's side of the field that is persistent at all games at FedEx Field. They had it right for 07, but for some screwed it back up in 08...

What i immediately noticed (aside from the obvious improvements) is the ability to call up the replays very quickly. I love watching the replays after 90% of my plays and it was always a chore going into the menu and calling up the replay. I know it is a little thing but i like to see that stuff added.

Looks better than '08 but... it's the same old "that's not saying much". Their presentation take is splashy, but I think they could've done more w/less. With NBC, Fox, ESPN, and even the NFL Network to choose to model a presentation style after, it's like they're trying to define their own - not like it's a huge problem, just saying... what was in the video wasn't immediately impressive, just flashier. Is the replay window just that - only showing the replay itself, not having the commentators focus on the specifics of the previous play? Like focusing on the guard making a great block or penalty, a DB getting beat/making a good play, etc. - just from their perspective. Obviously it's been done, and that's tv-style presentation. Seems like Tiburon's has their own take on tv-style presentation; going to take more video to get an idea of where they're headed. Looks like the helmet intros are back (don't like them). Outside stadium shot looked great.

Gameplay-wise, the game still has it's player interaction issues - animations flow a little better but they still are lacking. Lack of a QB pocket seems to stand out more in Madden than it does in NCAA; it's like the game invites you to move to the right or left after the snap - or just run backwards (QB anims suck; need to be overhauled). Player models are too lanky and somewhat hunchbacked but that may be fixed before release. Would be nice to see more pre-snap movement. Tiburon's done a pretty good job with mid-air collisions and the lighting looks good. Game still has a good 2 - 2 1/2 months of tweaking I guess, so that's good

not to rain on the lighting parade but

they messed up...their 'faking' the daylight

based on the player shadows, the sun is to the RIGHT of the lighthouse......using google earth shows that the lighthouse is at the north end of the stadium (field runs generally north/south).

only time the sun would be in that position would be june 21st at SUNRISE (even that might be a stretch)

oh well

I'm with this guy. I still have concerns with the o-line blocking.

Guys. Please tell me if im wrong BUT. Did you guys see the way Brady had the ball in his hands before he threw it to Moss? He was holding it down toward his hips like he really does in REALITY. It was different than the way Manning was holding the ball in the game. Am i seeing things guys?! Did they really do QB specific throwing animations?

Once again I'm not impressed...Yes the lighting looks great and the stadium and grass textures have been improved but watching that video I know exactly how its going to play...Like every other Madden.

EA needs to get their head out of their a$$ and start developing or licensing a physics engine because this is absurd. The highest grossing annual game ever and this is what they give the fans...We should be blown away by this game every year considering the amount of money they've made off of us...And seriously when are they going to change blocking AI and have a pocket in this game...ugh

With the amount of money these people have made off of us (I havent bought the last two) we seriously should be as impressed with this game as a true next gen game like GTA 4.

They have the money, just not the talent and knowledge of football...Way to go Tiburon!

Player models look great. Presentation is better, but could be improved even more... add the refs, and continue to add the little things (ala The Show). Even though there are probably some new animations, in general, they are feeling very old. I also noticed no more player intros and straight to the coin toss.

It looks good but the line play is still lacking. And why can't these things ever be played by a user who understands how to execute a proper QB dropback?

# 56 bigmoe @ 05/02/08 01:03 PM
Unless the sim guys around here love the game when it comes out im not interested.Traded last 2 years in within a week and Ill hold out for impressions this year.Im not interested in the same game ( actually getting worse imo ) year after year now and this could be a first Madden i dont purchase since 1989..oh well will see?

I don't know but watching those dropbacks drives me nuts. Just seeing a QB dropping back 15 yds or back peddling laterally across the field is not football.

I like the speed of this game compared to blazing fast NCAA.

# 59 Pared @ 05/02/08 01:50 PM
I'm sold.
